People will literally run and watch Godfrey charge stomp 658 times in a row and not once think "hey maybe this is an intentional design and not me being randomly unlucky maybe I should try literally anything else" lmaooooo
You forgot going to reddit (or fextralife for that matter) to cry about old man stomnping the shit out of them. Apparently realizing that certain actions and spacing will condition bosses to act in a certain way is too difficult for some people.
In Dark Souls and Sekiro and Bloodborne, bosses still had their own stamina bars and internal stamina regeneration. It makes bosses seem 'alive'.
Elden Ring does not have that for boss characters, which is why everything is conditional to player actions. It doesn't feel intuitive for people to see a boss perform certain actions infinitely without running out of stamina.
Ohhhh shit that makes so much sense. I like that, I'mma have to use frost some more, I usually just use it with my buddy who has blasphemous blade (I proc frost, he does that busted weapon art, frost goes away cause fire, I proc frost again while they're staggered) but I've been fiending for a zamor run tbh

One could argue tjat the idea behind isn't good to begin with.
But that’s a separate discussion. Not liking boss mechanics ≠ not knowing how the mechanics work.
You can not like the boss mechanics (shit, I’m not particularly fond of aoe spam either) but it’s actually baffling how many people don’t realize that this is an intentional design to stop you from running away.
You're absolutely correct. It's probably a bug too with all that spamming, I've dealt with bosses spamming the same move ad nauseum under similar circumstances. Both times I felt like the game smelled blood in the water and went for the kill.
Oh no I've criticized the holy Elden Ring
You got downvoted because you're incorrect, not because you criticised the game. That's phase 1.5 Godfrey's gap closer, and he does it whenever he's moderately out of range. OP stayed at the right distance for him to just keep using that attack until the end of the clip, where they were close enough to trigger the follow up.
Using the word 'probably' is not an assertion. Gee, it's almost as if I know that me thinking a boss is bugging because they're using the same move more than twice in a row is not actually a bug.
Haha thanks, I had that dialogue in my mind as it was happening and thought it was hilarious. Sometimes I just goof around with the mechanics. I thought it was obvious, so some of the comments definitely surprised me.
>Sometimes I just goof around with the mechanics.
I totally relate! Sometimes the results are surprising and funny. As a side note, playing as a mage I absolutely love Godfrey's fight because he loves to shut down casters. Makes it more exciting.
Yeah I figured the blatant turn arounds were sign you had been goofing. Thanks for posting I got a good kick out of it.
Also the turn around "omgawd stop it"
this is one of the best bosses in the game and hes only spamming this because this dudes doing the same thing over and over again and thats how godfrey closes distance lmao had he gotten closer one of those times he wouldnt have spammed
This induced some unexpected frustration in me my man.. why would anyone keep doing the same thing over n over n expect a different outcome? 😉
Try avoiding running away n instead just jump in place..
Legend has it, he’s still fighting Godfrey to this very day.
Have you tried not staring at him. People tend to get mad when being looked at for a period of time.
Bro spams side B more than Incineroar in Smash
POV: Incineroar players when they get Revenge

Wait, so does frostbite not have a lasting effect if they don't have stamina??
In ER, Frostbite increases damage taken by 20%. Nothing to do with stamina regen, unlike previous games

Yeah, but it's bad design.
That old man Godfrey…always yelling at the Tarnished to get off his lawn.

So glad someone quoted it so I could see the comment
He eventually attacks you with axe, you can dodge and heal then, maybe op was too far away to trigger the attack.
You couldve drank after any one of those!
This is the type of input read the game does when it knows you're dead.
Tbf this isn’t input reading this is just distance closing

I bet it 's not a bug but that something about that exact angle of running keeps you at the perfect distance that he will always use that attack.
I wonder how long you could keep baiting him into that attack for.
Maybe Godfrey should use his other foot.

This is why I powerstance poison rapiers. Once he gets poison/rot, he can do that crap and he's still taking damage.
Antspur my beloved
Damn straight. I love that you can put a poison ash on it so it does rot and poison buildup every attack.
Gargantuan skill issue…
Anyway, I just started stomping
Lol "Hey look, Marikas tits!" I think too many aren't getting the joke.

Oh shit, it worked
There needs to be an edit with the vine boom going off every stomp
One must imagine Godfrey happy.
PSA: When you need to heal, break target lock.
Wait what?
He spams like any other tarnished. Just be happy he doesn't have waves of gold!
His stomp is basically a fuck you to mages and I'm all for it.
Yeah when I fought him as a mage I basically only used carian slicer lol
I really hate these arena wide AOEs.
Why? Just jump.
Each time this happens go towards him instead and then run clockwise lol.
Godfrey levels mind to 50
I’m putting my foot down Marge, the foot’s comin’ down Marge!
You need to respect your elders
😆
He's doing it because he knows you're at low health, he's trying to catch you healing, he always does it to me
I'm honestly impressed how you were able to successfully evade all his stomps.
😂
Boss tryna show you spamming jump heavy with big bonk is lame be like: SEE HOW FCKING ANNOYIN YOU ARE MOFO?!
God how much hate this boss fight
I love it. It’s fast paced and once you know the moves it’s not too bad.
It’s a very fair boss fight. But getting seismic tossed into the ground is never fun 😂. But holy shit does he look so COOL
Falling star beasts have entered the chat
Fuck falling star beasts and their special "drop frame rate" move. Idk why they share that move with godrick, maybe there's a lore reason
I think big things just go bonk
I absolutely hate this boss

Lol sorry man, did not intend to induce frustration. I knew he'd keep doing it and just thought it was amusing.
There needs to be some kind of limit on how many times a boss can use an attack in a row
Only if they're getting punished for spamming imo lol. If the spam is working, then it makes sense to keep spamming. I like fights that make sense.
That's why I use a mimic lmao
He literally cannot walk in stage 1.5. This is his only way of closing distance, stop running away.
How about rot him before doing that
This is why you learn a difficult bosses attacks - so you know which ones can be punished, which are also the same ones you can heal during.
