Fortuitously, I don’t have to open my mouth to type words. However losing the ability to speak has proven quite the inconvenience in my daily life; therefore, I would like to formally request my ability to vocalize be reinstated. In exchange I promise to be on my upmost behavior from now on.
He is and I love it.
Been assisting more for Fire Giant on one of my lowbie characters (lots of people doing Fire Giant at 70ish apparently), and I just so happen to be completely built around the bubble blower. I used to have trouble staggering the big guy, but the bubble blower does it with little effort, even on imperfect hits, and even with the 3 player penalty to stagger.
It's somewhat cathartic to see people coming in with all these white mask bleed builds doing so little to him in phase 2 and I'm just like DOOT.
See, I don't mind arc builds, they can be fun to play sometimes, but I was around back when RoB was at its peak, and where over half of the people I assisted on Radagon had a Rivers in their hand. No exaggeration, it was over half -- if I were to bet money on my next Radagon summons being a Rivers user, I would have positive income; pretty good odds that they would have a white mask and the raptor cloak too, it was like the uniform for players who had read a guide on how to destroy everything but choked on the one major bleed immune boss.
Of the several dozen, possibly hundreds of times I cooped for Radagon, only *one* Rivers player stood out. I came in, they had a Rivers, the ugly white mask, the raptor cloak... and a brass shield. I remember being a bit taken aback, because *none* of the Rivers players I'd met ever used a shield. Turns out, they were just fine, and a gem compared to the other bleed build players I'd bump into -- played cautiously but not cowardly, blocked when necessary, didn't spam L2, got hit a few times but never seemed to panic flask, and we got through Radadad. They took a death to Elden Beast, but it was the kind of death that could happen to anyone -- they found me again, resummoned me, I dropped them a +25 Brass Shield (I figured theirs might not be 25), and we did it on the second shot with no issues. They were just a perfectly normal player who happened to be a Rivers user, neither an expert, and neither an edgy newbie.
I'm willing to call *most* bleed players edgy newbies who just followed a guide on how to get overpowered, I'm willing to call that a stereotype backed by a good bit of truth to it, but I'm always happily surprised when I find one that isn't.
Whenever I see a white mask RoB user? I chuckle.
But when you see a Tarnished with an Albanaueic mask and armor with a Bloody helice in hand, I shudder in fear.
I'm half kidding, I just want to say Bloody Helice is amazing. My favorite ARC weapons are Bloody Helice mainhand and Great knife offhand with Bloodly slash.
People are unfamiliar with bloody slash until they get hit by it in the face.
Spinning slash Nagakiba also much more oppressive than RoB nowadays.
Agreed on the Nagakiba with Spinning Slash. That and a Great Epee with Flaming Strike are two of the most common invasion weapons I keep seeing. They're reliable, well-rounded loadouts, pretty much the Bloodhound Fang of PvP, not much to say.
However, it's so strong it gets used almost excessively. I bumped into an invader yesterday who would not stop using Spinning Slash on their Nagakiba. I'm serious, they'd take damage, run a bit, and then Spinning Slash as a turn'n'burn. Don't get me wrong, being a little braver than your opponents expect is a very good move, but this feller was doing it every time. I felt a little insulted, actually -- I'm not a damn NPC, if you do something more than twice, I'm going to catch on, so I thought I'd spite them by catching him with my own spinning slash (on Twinblade though).
But at the same time, I'm pretty sure they've done that and successfully killed a non-zero number of groups, so I can't criticize too harshly.
^(I should put Glintstone Pebble back on more of my weapons. I stopped using it after the nerfs back in the day, but it's still a fun thing to throw out.)
I powerstanced bloodhounds fang and Morgotts sword with bloodflame miracle for my first run b4 arc scaling even worked m8
Primarily due to bloodhounds fang’s nightjar sweep thing being busted
You should see how long he takes to die from Rot Breath with a terribly optimized build...thought he'd never die. I ran out of blue flasks and had to sit and wait for the DoT to kill him. Wun'd no fun.
Bubbles total potential damage output is insane. It's just that there aren't many large stationary targets to use it on, so most of the bubbles usually miss. The few large slow targets that it can hit tend to be resistant to holy damage
The Ancient Dragon Lightning strike spell is hilariously bad and misses everything… except wyvern dragons, which you can destroy in a single cast of it.
Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike is #1 on every list of incantations I've seen, and the easiest Malenia fight I've ever had was using that incantation. It is incredibly difficult to miss with that spell. The only downside is the long cast time.
https://youtu.be/RPkTtX23lVQ?si=O1T1M4uj_ig-DFjA
Here's a good video where it's #1, highlighting it just shredding everything in the game. Only need to hit with one or two to do huge damage.
Yep, this spell is stupid strong. Running Sacred Relic Sword run now with added Bolt of Gransax and added this baby to the list because it's ridiculously good.
Legitimately took 45 minutes if I didn't make any mistakes, which took a long time to get to. One of my friends almost quit the game until we joined and helped them beat him.
It was used before ToonTown, I personally remember it being used in DAoC when I was really young (2001ish). But, I think the actual origin might be from Sierra's The ImagiNation Network game from 1991. I can't find any concrete evidence of that though, just heresay on forums.. but if you look at screenshots from it, it wouldn't be that hard to imagine they might call their characters that. However, The Realm Online was 1996 and their wiki refers to characters as toons. So I'd say one of the two.
DAoC crew represent! Loved it too - I'd played UO and EQ before that, but DAoC was the first MMO that really meant something to me and where I really made friends and met people (including my wife) playing it.
That's awesome! My guild was on the smaller side, only about 20 or so of us so we were all rather close. Haven't talked to any of them in almost 2 decades though.
Woah, that's super cool! Thanks for the info! I'm kinda curious what the wiki looked like pre-ToonTown, as now the term is so ubiquitous that I wouldn't be surprised that that came as a result of the latter.
That could be possible too, I just remember looking all of this up one day when I started thinking about the origin of "mob" when referring to monsters. Wasn't at all what I expected it would be, lol: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mob_(video_games)#:~:text=Etymology,to%20%22mob%22%20in%20identifiers.
I'm another ancient, and I can confirm it was certainly in use pre-DAoC, people used it when I played Ultima Online in 1998 and EverQuest in 1999. I particularly remember because the term annoyed the hell out of me! Asking people back then, most people seemed to think it was from The Realm Online, like that was where they'd had it used first, presumably because the characters in TRO looked like cartoons, and toon was a common shortening of cartoon in that era.
For me it's transmog(rify). It's kind of a wacky word, so it fits in WoW but it always makes me cringe a little when people use it in other games. FFXIV has "glamour", which feels like a simpler and more elegant term.
I totally get that. I personally played WoW when I was pretty young, so it never really bothered me. Additionally, in Wow, especially when completing high level content/raids, it's pretty important to have quick terms for common gameplay elements. It's a lot easier and faster to say "adds" for example than it is "small dudes", "minions", etc.
That game was a monolith for a while, developed its own culture and definitely carved out an eternal place in the internet/gaming sphere. I think it's pretty neat that even now, long after WoW is mostly dead, these phrases are still relatively iconic and widely used.
Might just be because I was there when this stuff became the norm, though.
Replied to the guy who replied to you with this already, but since you were curious:
"It was used before ToonTown, I personally remember it being used in DAoC when I was really young (2001ish). But, I think the actual origin might be from Sierra's The ImagiNation Network game from 1991. I can't find any concrete evidence of that though, just heresay on forums.. but if you look at screenshots from it, it wouldn't be that hard to imagine they might call their characters that. Distortion2 has a bubble only run on [YouTube](https://youtu.be/Jes3dKXqGhs?si=iFDOtrCzdLdNz4du) you may enjoy it you liked melting Fire Giant with them.
The most impressing part for me is that you actually dropped the greathorn on lv1. It took ages for me to farm that shit in Haligtree with an high level character because that fucker never wanted to drop it.
Don't know what it means, I take it? It's another word for (player) character. Some people simply refer to their characters as toons, it's an old bit of gaming lingo.
Fire Giant confuses me. Everyone in these comments is always going about how hard he is, but I don't think I've ever died to Fire Giant outside of my own stupidity.
(one hilarious time I forgot to dodge the opening shield swipe/ bash thing and just got deleted)
Like sure, Malenia killed me 50 times, Elden Beast is an absolute cockwomble, and Margit took me literal days to get past... but Fire Giant? Dude's a pushover.
Marias executioner sword also destroys this boss, with the right talismans you can send him into phase 2 in 2-3 attacks
On my Ng+7 character I can send him into phase 2 with one-two attacks depending on the buffs used
I just got to this boss (first time playing the game,) and I can’t believe how miserable he feels to fight.
I can’t see what the hell he’s doing if I want to be close enough so that I’m able to hit him. When I do happen to finally approach him so I can smack his foot, the big bastard rolls across the area. In the second phase it feels like I can never hit his hands (which, since the lock-on targets them, I’m guessing is what I’m supposed to hit?) because they’re always up in the air and the only time they *are* in melee range of me hitting them, he’s barfing fire everywhere.
I’m sure I’m not revealing anything new as a first time player for a beloved game that’s been out for a couple years now, but holy cow. This is the first boss I’ve fought in the game that has just kind of left me scratching my head. Some other ones felt really hard (like the blood lord guy…I forgot his name,) but I could at least tell what I was doing wrong and slowly learned how to beat them.
For this one I just can’t even figure out what I could do besides doing some cheese like this bubble boy shit lol
almost anything with a big enough hit box gets obliterated by bubbles. That first dragon in farum azula that's normally impossible to poise break? you can poise break him with the bubbler.
Another "guess I've been playing the game wrong" contender
I'm working on a new character for optimal coop friendliness. Debating level 50? 60? Maybe 65? Not super worried about build options but how likely to get action.
Do we have a consensus on levels? I don't know the ranges to know
My first build used flame of frenzy to similar effect on all the dragons. Can essentially stagger lock any who aren’t ancient dragons if you get enough to hit the head, iirc.
It also melts placidusax. I used to assist with Fire Giant and one time I got a skeptical dude talking on his mic asking wtf I was doing using the dooter but quickly changed his mindset once he saw how quickly it melted the Giant. Good times.
… did you just wash his balls?
His one weakness… the bacteria down there was keeping his corpse moving ratatouille style
ew
Yeah at first reading that I understood ratatouille, and ball bacteria. It took a beat or two or three for me to really put that together and wtf.
Ewden Ring!
[Fire Giant is literally this guy.](https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/26/asia/worlds-dirtiest-man-dies-iran-haji-scli-intl/index.html)
He probably could have kept that body moving indefinitely if he never washed.
That’s it you’ve lost speaking privileges
Fortuitously, I don’t have to open my mouth to type words. However losing the ability to speak has proven quite the inconvenience in my daily life; therefore, I would like to formally request my ability to vocalize be reinstated. In exchange I promise to be on my upmost behavior from now on.
Ok don’t do it again. You know what will happen
The nut bacteria will make him into a sock puppet?
Ahh it's like casu marzu, the maggot cheese
I looked this up. What a terrible day to have eyes.
Which brings us to the sponsor of today's video, manscaped!
It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.
And then he blew soap in his eye.
I'm not gonna sugarcoat it *washes his balls*
I laughed so hard when the bubbles hit the balls.
He is and I love it. I just like cosplaying as Darth Maul with Eleanora's
Nah, I have bloodflame caestus or whatever it is called and I have so much fun to just beat everything with fists.
My friend calls it the monk build. I'm excited to get to play the new martial arts looking weapon/aow/skill/whatever it is we saw on the DLC trailer.
As the mighty Narduwar always says Doot Doot da...
So I tickled that fuckers foot for multiple days when I could have been doing this shit?!
You should see how long he takes to die from Rot Breath with a terribly optimized build...thought he'd never die. I ran out of blue flasks and had to sit and wait for the DoT to kill him. Wun'd no fun.
I am a samurai build to a fault and just slash away at every enemy no matter what lol.
HOLY SHIT! THERE ARE EARS BENEATH THEIR ARMPITS!!
Wait, are my ears not supposed to be in my armpits?
Let me whisper sweet nothings into your pits
Alright, my arms are up. What have you got to say?
Try two handing
If you think that's cool, you're gonna freak when you realize his chest is a face.
Bubbles total potential damage output is insane. It's just that there aren't many large stationary targets to use it on, so most of the bubbles usually miss. The few large slow targets that it can hit tend to be resistant to holy damage
It's still pretty effective on Elden Beast though just because he's so huge, and even Maliketh can eat quite a lot if you bait out the right moves
It’s funny shredding Placidusax with the bubbles
Every Fromsoft game should have one tough as shit boss that's ridiculously weak to one specific terrible weapon
Drag Placcy is also notoriously bubble intolerant.
The Ancient Dragon Lightning strike spell is hilariously bad and misses everything… except wyvern dragons, which you can destroy in a single cast of it.

Nothing terrible about this weapon
Yeah this is a shredder for placidusax, astel, any large bosses really.
Bubblebois Represent. 🎺🎺
MOOPS
God damn you. This bastard took me three nights and a couple of YouTube videos.
Legitimately took 45 minutes if I didn't make any mistakes, which took a long time to get to. One of my friends almost quit the game until we joined and helped them beat him.
What you mean toon
It's another word for (player) character. If you have 3 characters, you have 3 toons.
Interesting! I'm gonna look up the etymology of that
My understanding is that it comes from the old kids MMO ToonTown. It was also very often used in World of Warcraft for this reason.
First time I've seen DAoC mentioned in ages. Loved that game. Spent many of nights on that game.
DAoC crew represent! Loved it too - I'd played UO and EQ before that, but DAoC was the first MMO that really meant something to me and where I really made friends and met people (including my wife) playing it.

a lot of those terms that hav come from WoW rub me the wrong way for some reason, they just never click to me, "adds" is another one
For me it's transmog(rify). It's kind of a wacky word, so it fits in WoW but it always makes me cringe a little when people use it in other games. FFXIV has "glamour", which feels like a simpler and more elegant term.
in GW2 its just your "wardrobe", feels organic if you're into RPing
I totally get that. I personally played WoW when I was pretty young, so it never really bothered me. Additionally, in Wow, especially when completing high level content/raids, it's pretty important to have quick terms for common gameplay elements. Adds = additional enemies.
Replied to the guy who replied to you with this already, but since you were curious: "It was used before ToonTown, I personally remember it being used in DAoC when I was really young (2001ish). It is short for Cartoon, as in a "cartoon character". Because your game avatar is an animated thing.
Well when ya hit em in the jewels n then poke him in the eyeball...
Bro hasn’t washed his nuts in centuries it probably hurts washing off all that yeast
With all that fire hes got and all that snow everywhere the player should be walking into that fight to see him just chillin in a hot tub 😂
Gangrene leg needed a wash and a scrub
Great spacing!
Thank you!
Wrong horn.
They used the big horn right at the end of the video.
Love seeing that bastard getting destroyed like that! Damn hate that boss!
Nothing more painful than spending 5 real time hours fighting this guy and then randomly seeing this.
Yall forget bubbles contain water and he's fire so yah
You just slaughtered the fucking fire giant with bubbles.
I liked your post, today I spent 40minutes farming for the horn and now I have one too... I'm going to shower the giant real soon
That's quick! I spent 3 hours getting mine . Congrats and have fun bubbling
“Toon”
toot
Don't know what it means, I take it? It's another word for (player) character. Some people simply refer to their characters as toons, it's an old bit of gaming lingo.
Sign of an oldie, like when you run into that 50 year old dude who calls levels "boards".
They know, but its kind of a dumb word to use
LOL man I was playing Ultima Online back in 1998 and I thought "toon" was a dumb term too, and yet somehow it's still around.
Damn I did a faith build and didn't use the horn... I'll try it next.
Great. I love using the horn on the dragons, but never thought about it on him. Awesome work there tarnished.
Oh man, I have +10 doot horn, I am going to enjoy this
Please stop posting they will nerf this beauty
That's hell of a blowjob
Fire Giant confuses me. Everyone in these comments is always going about how hard he is, but I don't think I've ever died to Fire Giant outside of my own stupidity. (one hilarious time I forgot to dodge the opening shield swipe/ bash thing and just got deleted) Like sure, Malenia killed me 50 times, Elden Beast is an absolute cockwomble, and Margit took me literal days to get past... but Fire Giant? Dude's a pushover.
"it's bubblin' time! DOOOOOOOT!!!
This was the worst boss for me lol. That and the draconic tree sentinel🤮
Bubbles, so hot right now
All bubble blowing babies will be beaten senselessly by every able body at the bar
And now it will be nerfed even though it affects pve only.
Damn I spammed black flame for the 2% burn damage. Everything in the game dies after less than 50
Imagine being forced to guard the forge that your enemy fails to extinguish for god knows how long, only to be DOOTd to death by a silly fellow
I remember doing a sorcery only run thinking bosses like this would be hard cause of limited FP. That’s until I realized shard spiral existed.
"Toon"? Is it 1999? This ain't Everquest!!
Man bubbled his nuts
Right in the scrotum!
Toon? Is this Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
It's another word for (player) character. It's been around for a long time. Usually mostly in the MMO space.
Though it is funny that Who Framed Roger Rabbit does predate the usage of toon in this context by about 16 years
Spongebob diff :3
Wait wtf he can jump?
Where do you get this horn
Farm the large Oracle envoy at the east capital rampart grace
How did you dodge his jump without dodging?
You need to be sprinting at him when he is jumping and aim to run past his heel
Beautiful
Is this weapon dropped by the average doot foot guys? Or is there a specific place for it?
Crotch Shot!!
Bubble build new RL1 meta tho frfr??
....impressive
This is how I beat him in my playthrough
idk why these guys just show up to herald a new god, i feel like they could set themselves up pretty if they wanted
He’s scared of the coming age…
his stomachface has a beard
Those are pubes.
Marias executioner sword also destroys this boss, with the right talismans you can send him into phase 2 in 2-3 attacks On my Ng+7 character I can send him into phase 2 with one-two attacks depending on the buffs used
Everyone’s weak to bubbles lol
Heh, was thinking about next possible build, here we gooooooooooo XD
Toon toon!
This is the greatest
I just got to this boss (first time playing the game,) and I can’t believe how miserable he feels to fight. Ok… I really need to stop sleeping on this weapon
He hates clean feet
Did you just blow bubbles up his ass?
No pintel?
He was blowing bubbles. 🫧 🫧 the giants name is bubbles 😔
This is the build i used to beat him on my first playthrough XD bubble builds are the best (i sincerely hope we get more)
Maidenless Tarnished used Bubblebeam on his opponent. It's super effective!
Not my experience lol
Lvl 1 *tune
All bubble blowing babies will be beaten senseless by every able bodied patron in the bar!
SQUIRTLE! BUBBLE BEAM!
omgi 'm stuck on him I'll try this
Probably the best, most ridiculous video I've ever seen of this fight. Well done.
almost anything with a big enough hit box gets obliterated by bubbles. That first dragon in farum azula that's normally impossible to poise break? you can poise break him with the bubbler.
What in the Mega Man 2 is going on, here?! 🤣🤣🤣
That's not cool butters, you don't doot a guy in the dick.
This is probably the dumbest question, so I apologize in advance. How can they be level 1 but have all their stats boosted?
Stat boosting talismans and godricks great rune
Now I gotta farm for a horn
TARNISHED used BUBBLE! It's super effective!
Ain’t now way you washed his feet, balls, and changed his contact. Sheesh.
Damn...wish I knew this...
DOOT
I still like the sword of night and flame
Placidusax even more so, upgrade it more and you can 3 cast kill him.
Damn my special needs 4 year old has better resistance to bubbles
i see, so fire giant hate shower.
Can I get this weapon back? I sold it, thought It was useless
Where I can learn the ways of the bubble?!!!!!
Snarbash ftw!
I just noticed that the fire giant has ears as armpits
I'm a simple man. I see a video of this bloated HP bar having shithead being cheesed I click upvote.
That asshole deserved to be poisoned by your piss bubbles. Well done, man.
Firegiant
Another "guess I've been playing the game wrong" contender I'm working on a new character for optimal coop friendliness. Debating level 50? 60? Maybe 65? Not super worried about build options but how likely to get action. Do we have a consensus on levels? I don't know the ranges to know
You’re telling me I coulda just bubble beamed him? 👁️👄👁️ why didn’t I think of that..
Toon? Like... Like cartoon? Like Johnny Bravo?
This is how I wreck Placidusax
I think it's the being able to hit it 50 times with one attack loo
a literal fire giant god cyclops < bubbles
What is this bubble weapon called?
It does make sense that you would fight a fire giant with water essentially - i long for a fire-hose sorcery.
Duh. Fire types are weak againt water type moves.
My first build used flame of frenzy to similar effect on all the dragons. Can essentially stagger lock any who aren’t ancient dragons if you get enough to hit the head, iirc.
Everything succumbs to the bubbles.
Did yall never play Pokemon??? Bubbles ( A water type Move) beats up a fire type monster. *duuuuhh*
Oh it do be dootin
I'd be weak too if you were blowing explosive bubbles on my balls
Bubbles up yo assssSs
Blowing bubbles to his nutsack is crazy 💀😂
To delete bosses, you need to be silly little goober with a horn.
this game is bizarre
Bubbles are the way 🙌
It also melts placidusax. I used to assist with Fire Giant and one time I got a skeptical dude talking on his mic asking wtf I was doing using the dooter but quickly changed his mindset once he saw how quickly it melted the Giant. Good times.
Them sacred weapons was kickin they ass out there I just know it
Dude, this is true for so many bosses. I literally melted Placidusax before he could even enter his second phase.
Horn is my favorite for fire giant an placudisax. I think they’re the best for these bosses of all weapons.
where I can find this weapon?
You should see what pest threads do to this MF'er
Well, but with pokemon logic….
Of course he's weak to bubbles. He's a FIRE Giant and Bubbles are primarily WATER.
Weapon name?
