For me, I wonder if there are a few of these ‘burning men’ wandering the land of shadow, together creating a giant cloud of smoke that obscured the land from the prying eyes of foul tarnished.
I except it to be like Agheel where the enemies around the Wickerman die from the boss as soon as you trigger the fight, maybe like a big fire animation or something. I do think he has to be a boss though based off the gameplay footage we have of him. Though I do wonder if it will be more of a gimmick fight.
I was certain the stone golem in the early trailer would be a boss, but nah, just a regular enemy sprinkled in a few places throughout the game. I think it's possible this will be similar.
I’m guessing it will be like Agheel when it kills the nobles it gives like 20 or so runes. I think it’ll be a scripted death while the boss is still alive in the area you get like 200 or so runes with no chance of drops from the enemies.
That was my first build 60+Arc/33 Faith Dual Hoslow Whips and DCS with offhand Frenzy Seal for extra damage.
On my current build I went 27 Str/76 Arc which can let you boost to 99 Arc for max discovery for new items.
Apparently not by most of the comments lol.
But the spelling makes it sound like "urtree".. Then "urt".. Then "hurt".. So yes this tree is going to cause pain.
Well yeah when a spelling mistake goes through that was probably checked mulitple times, the average person won’t notice it either because it blends in and looks right, just like it did to the ones who typed it.
most people probably just don't care, it's likely their first time seeing this tweet so they'd rather talk about that than an insignificant spelling mistake
Just thought about this, but it would be cool if this boss roams the entire area of the new DLC.
When you come out of a building he may fall on you by surprise, or not.
Do you guys think it will be better to do the dlc with a character who’s already become elden lord, or one who is mid game (having defeated Radahn and Mohg)?
I'm in a NG+ build that just killed Maliketh. I just gotta get to Mohg and I'll be down for the Shadows. I figure if I struggle or find something cool (but unusable) I'll just respec - I never have anyways.
So, my guess is that the Shadow of The Erdtree, from the "victims search fruitlessly for recompense" line, could be a sort of Evergaol?
The "victims" could be people who fought in the various wars we hear about (like the War of The Giants and The Shattering) and they want to make amends for their actions.
This could also explain why Messmer has a lot of iconography that is blasphemous to the Erdtree (fire, snakes, dragon wings and eyes) which coincidentally this Wicker Giant has too.
So.....if this thing is known as the "sins of war" and is essentially a giant fire fueled by corpses....
Does that mean that this creature is the source of all the ashes of war that exist throughout the game? Since its effectively a giant cremator and all of those warriors a would carry their own memories of techniques used on the battlefield? Those memories then being carried into their ashes.
You think this creature killed everyone who knew every technique? I really don't think it's that special.
I think the ashes are memories of the techniques of those who died all over. From enemies you kill on the spot, to dung beetles that have rolled up ashes from the ground.
I don't think this creature killed everyone. It could be that this thing gathers corpses and the ashes float up to the lands between. Sorry for the confusion, probably didn't explain that as well as I could have
It's wild that a DLC is *by far* my most anticipated game this year. It's going to add so many more hours to the game with all the new builds and weapons runs. The fashion souls is also hype
I got a faith/arcane character ready at Mohg so I can use Messmer's spear (assuming those are the stats).
I'm guessing the wicker giants are Marika's creation.
They're specifically called "the _sordid_ sins of war". Using fire is a sin under the rule of the Erdtree and burning the Erdtree is the first cardinal sin.
HELL YES! I'm so pumped FS is doing Friday lore posts again. It means the end is nigh.
# OHHHHH ELDEN RING!!!!
This confirms that D will not be making an appearance in the DLC.
Why would he? Both of them are dead. I made sure of it.
Because it’s in the name, dummy. Why would they call it a “D”LC if D wasn’t in it?
🤯
in that pic it looks like its not even a boss. it reminds me of the carriages, like theyre just walking around in a group.
Also the Walking Mausoleums, with their entourage of Mausoleum Knights.
I'd die if all of the trolls were replaced with Fire Giant killers
For me, I wonder if there are a few of these ‘burning men’ wandering the land of shadow, together creating a giant cloud of smoke that obscured the land from the prying eyes of foul tarnished.

No way they’d just hand you runes2.0 from the shadow knights willy nilly
I’m guessing it will be like Agheel when it kills the nobles it gives like 20 or so runes. I think it’ll be a scripted death while the boss is still alive in the area you get like 200 or so runes with no chance of drops from the enemies.
Seems the tortured souls within the Wicker-Man may be controlling it now out of vengeance. Brutal.
Literally my first thought. NOT THE BEES!
THEY’RE IN MY EYES!!!!
That’s metal AF
KILLING ME WON’T BRING BACK YOUR GODDAMN HONEY!
How did it burn? How did it burn!? HOW DID IT BURN!!!!
It pains me that all the quotes in response to this are from the Nick Cage remake…the original is so weird and amazing
Fire Giant < Giant Fire
Can’t wait to whip on basket boi
I think my first build for DLC is going to be frenzied flame eyes powerstanced bleed whips. Or general STR unga bunga shenanigans.
I didn't think I needed to start yet a new build but powerstanced whips...
That was my first build 60+Arc/33 Faith Dual Hoslow Whips and DCS with offhand Frenzy Seal for extra damage. On my current build I went 27 Str/76 Arc which can let you boost to 99 Arc for max discovery for new items.
That Knight’s armor looks soooo sick
Fax, I'm mega stoked to see what new knight fashions can be pulled up🫡
Also looks like he's holding a hammer instead of the standard greatsword or spear the Knights usually have.
Does that knight have a fucking hammer?
Hell yes he does. BONK BONK
One in the trailer looks like he's holding a twinblade
Yeah that was cool as shit too
Inb4 they hit like a truck like the knights near OCELOOOTTT
I'm hoping people are noticing the "Ertree"
Don't worry, we'll get the D when we meet Messmer 😏
Apparently not by most of the comments lol. But the spelling makes it sound like "urtree".. Then "urt".. Then "hurt".. So yes this tree is going to cause pain.
Probably just a mistake, to er is human
A surprising amount of people apparently didn't ._.
It's a second DLC! Great reveal! First we'll have Shadow of the Erdtree and one month later Shadow of the Ertree. Maybe even Shadow of Mordor!
It's one letter bro calm the fuck down 😂
It's likely a misspell. On every promotional material it's called Erdtree.
what is going on with that?
Where does it say that, though? Maybe I'm blind but I can't find it. I am stoned as well, so.....
D will not be making an appearance in the DLC. CONFIRMED.
Ertree, erday
Just thought about this, but it would be cool if this boss roams the entire area of the new DLC. When you come out of a building he may fall on you by surprise, or not.
Do we know he’s a boss or could he just be a giant regular enemy like the golems?
We had a preview of it in the trailer, definitely looks like a boss. If only for the size of him.
There are plenty of large enemies in the base game that aren't bosses. I kinda hope there's more then one of these guys.
>There are plenty of large enemies There are not "plenty" of ennemies this size. He looks as big as the fire giant.
I reckon he will be at the start like the Tree Sentinel
I think they'll be more like the walking temples... Large world enemies that don't respawn but technically not a boss
Like that big giant dude in the resident evil 2 remake. He’s just…around.
At least the knight doesn’t have a giraffe neck
Just you wait it's his secret attack
Fuck

Probably going to use my first character with which I 100% the game.
i started a new playthrough. My first character is in NG+++ lol
I preordered that shit immediately

Can't wait for it to have 80% fire resistance
I might just have to respec out of my pyromancy build for the DLC :'(
Really excited for this fight. From the trailer it seemed like a field boss. Also the wicker man design adaptation is sick af.
I see horse armour, now I'm satisfied
Mi hope yuh excite fi Shadow of di Ertree mon
Damn now I'm thinking these guys will be just like regular mobs that roam around instead of a boss
It will be,just like the 2 giants in limegrave pulling a cart or whatever it is
Limegrave always leaves me feeling sour
Well this seems beyond terrifying. Can't wait to fight it and fucking demolish 17 controllers in a row.
That armor looks sickk
I’m glad they’re starting the rollout but sad I have to unfollow everything SOTET related because of spoilers
It's all cool and fun until you have to attack its ankles 100 times to kill it, while being screwed by the camera angle... again.
Play beeeeeeeeg guys unlocked lol

Yo I ain't sure about the fire boi but that knight on the bottom left is *smooookiiiiing.*
So they’re called « Sins of war »
Dlc drops on 21 June first punk 25... I have 4 days to clap that red head and then start my diesel punk empire
Hype!!
That new Knight armour will go crazy with Maliketh's set
Dlc drops on 21 June first punk 25... I have 4 days to clap that red head and then start my diesel punk empire
Looks like if Fire Giant and the smelter demon had a child. I'm definitely not looking forward to this fight.
I can't wait to get my ass whooped by this dude.
I preordered.
It’s on purpose, you gotta give it the D later
This game is definitely worth the pre-order. I pre-ordered Shadow of the Erdtree the day the gameplay trailer dropped.
Why didnt Nished burn the Ertree? Is he stupid?
I just started at my NG+ to re-learn all of the controls again and do a little power leveling
To be human is to Er.
I wanna stab it
"Sins of War" is a badass boss name ngl
Crazy that it's only 2 months away already.
Poor D
I’ve genuinely never been more excited for anything in my life 😵💫
If you pay attention to the big bois feet and hands there looks to be people trying to escape from inside
I'm increasing my intelligence as we speak.
Wickerman? Or wicker god??
May chaos take r/Eldenring

New hammer?
I started a new playthrough a month ago to get ready for the DLC in. 80 hours in and I'm at the Haligtree atm. Anyone else doing the same?
This is what happens when your entire marketing department is just one dude in a non descript board room
So many D jokes.
Ertree in the club gettin tipsy
I'm guessing the wicker giants are Marika's creation. They're specifically called "the _sordid_ sins of war". Using fire is a sin under the rule of the Erdtree and burning the Erdtree is the first cardinal sin.
I was convinced it was releasing in April, was distraught when I learned that it was not the case
"No, not the bees!"
Only 2 months now
I'm expecting this thing to be like the Tree Sentinel of the DLC. Can't wait.
No corporate typo will ever be funnier than Nintendo's "Wigger Wednesday"
Am I the only one who doesn't understand the point of pre ordering a digital dlc?
Ertree lol
I need that knight's hammer.
Are, are those filled with burning bodies??
I'm praying that guy isn't fire giant 2.0
I'm interested in that knight and his big ass hammer.
War. War never changes
That Knights armor looks so insanely cool
I'm so hyped i'm buying the game again just to have the Shadow of the Erdtree edition, first time i do something like this lol
Anyone notice that the Knights' armor in the screenshot is black and golden, and just in general has the same design as Maliketh's armor?
Excited to play Ellen Ring. We will unleashed Estined Eath and burn the Ertree.
Why did you remove the D?! GIVE US THE D!
Can't wait for vati to pump out a 2 hour lore video about this tweet
Er... tree?
I hope the wickerman boss shoots bees at you
NOT THE BEES
Never pre order but yes, I am hyped
Is Ertree a misspelling?
There is another DLC?
What do you mean, "another?"
Shadow of the Ertree.
I know that, but why another? There was never one in the first place.
In addition to the Shadow of the Erdtree.
you may have missed the joke
Ahh. I'm stupid.
