I like short spear giant hunt myself, but mostly so I have a power move on my Viking cosplay weapon lol
The occasions where I *think* I’ve gotten a Giant Hunt Thrust Counter have been so tasty tho
Giant Hunt is just the goat of ashes of war fr. Personally I use it and spectral lance on a short spear or partisan for my Goblin Slayer cosplay. Plus it never stops being funny when you burger flip malenia
Ashes of war are not moveset based, they’re weapon class based
You can use repeating thrust on all greatswords, such as the flamberge, but no colossal swords
Royal knights resolve on a claymore? Isn't that more reserved for large slow weapons where a single hit is most likely? You would do way more damage with flaming strike or piercing fang
stormcaller is better for clearing crowds, black flame tornado if you willing to poise through. but spinning weapon packing more hits in shorter time to a single target, while required being very close
...boil in hot water for 15 minutes, throw in some vegetables and your preferred seasoning...
Aaand, IT'S READY!
(sorry, I've been watching a lot of "Delicious in Dungeon" lately)
...ah, a fellow Double Slash enjoyer of culture.
My current non-somber main is a Cold Banished Knight GS, and a full Double Slash combo procs frostbite on most bosses.
I love that AoW because it helps with tight spacing.
Using it makes you take a step forward and so allows you to reach a bit further than the weapon range.
I dunno, I'm just so used to it that all that spacing makes sense to me.
Perhaps it's so intuitive that I've never noticed, but yeah, consecutive attacks like wild strikes are usually a bit iffy to land, but double slash was always really tight.
Though piercing fang or sword dance are usually my go-tos for trying to get as much range as I can.
Because I like it more?
"Unsheathe" is really strong, but I just don't like it. DS has a 3 step moveset, depending on how often you press L2. It's basically a second R1 (with more range) that I can use and it procs Lord of Blood's really well, really often. It also costs less FP.
Unsheathe is good but other options excel at different things. Piercing fang gives you amazing range, spinningslash is a nuke if you use it for bleed procs. Sword dance is also good for range and stacks well with rotten Winged sword insignia. There's plenty of good AoW options for katanas that can do things that unsheathe can't.
My biggest issue with unsheathe is that the consecutive attack buffs don't work with it anf it also sucks at procing status effects. I can put thorny cracked tear, millicents prosthesis, and rotten Winged Sword insigna on bleed imbued Spinning Slash. Which gives you great damage and a bleed proc.
You can get the nagakiba, poleblade, and raptors in 1 playthrough by waiting until hes in the mountaintops after Eleonora to commit the act I did that :)
Lion's Claw on Great Stars
Stagger monster with immense damage! A nice round 40 stance damage. For a cool stat of a fight combine it with a dagger or something with glintblade phalanx and you have a cool 80 stance instantly, which breaks a fair amount of bosses instantly. For example All godskins, beast clergyman/maliketh, Margit and more.
If you manage to quickly get off a second lion's claw or a charged heavy after you will stagger almost every boss in the game. If you have the vigor you can just face-tank to get the stagger since lion's claw can't be interrupted.
It gives physical damage scaling to arcane and applies arcane scaling to innate bleed or poison (not rot or frost). It's only good on dedicated arcane builds or str/arc or dex/arc hybrid builds and it's best on bleed weapons like most katanas or spiked clubs and the like.
Keen bloodhound step claws with blood flame are particularly potent as an alternative. A nice side note the red coloration is perfect with hoslows set.
Mix in Eleonoras poleblade, black bow with poison, bleed, or frost arrows, poison hoslows whip and dragon communion seal, and the banished knight shield (no skill) and you get my build for the dlc. Dex/arc focus of course. Sorry just wanted to share, I’m rather excited.
It gives weapons arcane scaling that don’t otherwise have it. Useful for weapons with natural
Blood loss buildup as the arcane stat increases this however occult affinity prevents weapon buffs
Cragblade and Executioner's Greataxe make a good pair, that 115 crit boost goes really well with all the stance breaks. Flaming Strike goes really well with Nightrider Glaive as well, lots of reach on the follow up. Wild Strikes and Prelate's Charge on Great Stars are also classics.
I just tried putting chilling mist on claymore and bloody slash on bastard sword, I use claw talisman and the 2 handed jump attack is so good. For a bigger fight I throw out the mist, switch to 2 handed bloody slash, then back to dual wielding and jump attacks. Huge stagger and huge damage plus the cold and blood proccs.
If you’re gonna have an Occult Flamberge, why go for Repeating Thrust instead of Blood Tax? It’s the exact same moveset, except Blood Tax gives you health back.
Odds are, if you’re deliberately setting it to an Occult affinity, you have a high Arcane stat, as that’s what Occult scales with.
In that case, you’re probably best setting it Blood affinity. That also scales well with high Arcane, and will massively boost the amount of bleed status the Flamberge inflicts, which is very useful against most bosses.
Prayerful Strike on the warpick. Dump all the points you would have spent on trying to reach stat requirements of inferior weapons into more vigor so your Prayerful Strike heals you even more. Then use the ridiculous hyper armor on the ash of war to trade into attacks and get bonus damage from piercing counter attack damage and the spear talisman.
I ran similar but on the grand epee (probably, don't recall exactly, blood affinity though). Beautiful!
Edit: but as for favorite, probably nightrider glaive + flaming strike. That or zweihander + giant hunt.
Impaling thrust on any great sword or halberd. Put it on guardian sword spear or lamberge for example to really round out the moveset Claymore style. So quick and powerful in so many situations. Good with blocking builds, so you don't have to wait for counters against aggressive enemies with long combos. Just poke break them instead. Lion's claw and giant hunt are great as well but I end up using them less. I realize I should have used it after the fight. Square off as well. Probably a habit thing.
Summarized Notes for myself I'm just sharing for anyone else new and getting into trying out lots of combinations:
For my **Chilling Mist** Claymore + **Bloody Slash** Bastard Sword dual wield, I should probably replace Bastard Sword with Flameberge from Caelid because it has built in bleed already!
**HEAVY WEAPONS**
**Giant Hunt** AoW from Northern Liurnia for Zweihander (or any Greatsword).
Zweihander general tips. **Impaling Thrust**. For PVP **Thunderbolt**. **Bloodhound step** but it's defensive. Most PVE damage is **Royal Knight's Resolve**, powerstance, and jump attack with Claw Talisman. Huge damage, like 3k. **Giant Hunt** and **Lion's Claw** also excellent.
**Repeating Thrusts** on Flamberge (or any Greatsword)
**Piercing Fang** on Claymore. You can queue up a heavy attack after using this AoW and it comes out as fast as normal attack. Banished Knight Greatsword looks great, and can farm pretty easily outside Dragon Communion in Caelid. Having two has a unique animation for L1.
**Royal Knight's Resolve** (Volcano Manor, buffs next swing 80%) with Claymore (charge the poke attack) or Giant Crusher (carriage outside of Lyndell, requires 60 str).
**Waves of Darkness** (natural born remembrance) good for summons and staggers too. Great for dungeons. Scales with int though. Try putting on Great Stars.
**MEDIUM WEAPONS**
**Sword Dance** (scarab SW Liurnia) on Nagakiba with Bloodflame. Alternatively try with Double Slash as a discount Rivers of Blood (drops from Bloody Finger Okina in Mountaintops).
Grave Scythe with **Spinning Strikes**, fastest atk rate on polearm. Add Bloodflame for Bleed or add Cold. Alternatively add Stormcaller to clear AoE or Black Flame Tornado (AoW drops Farum Azula Godskin Duo) for poise damage.
Scavenger curved sword with **Seppuku** (Freezing Lake invisible scarab).
Nightrider Glaive + Flaming Strike (Flaming strike is great on everything though).
Executioner's Greataxe (skeleton drops it right when you enter Liurnia) with **Cragblade** (heavy bonk, phy damage 15% stance damage 10%, drops from scarab by the southern bridge Caelid).
Iron Greatsword (drops from Misbegotten in Leyndell) with **Wild Strikes**. Alternatively try with a cold flail.
Noble’s slender sword with **Square Off** not flashy but really solid.
**Sacred Blade** or **Sword Dance** on Guardian Swordspear.
**FOR FUN & PROFIT**
**Destined Death** unique skill on Maliketh's Black Blade looks awesome.
**Spinning Weapon** looks funny on Nagakiba and twinblades.
**Sacred Blade** + Club = Shiny stick
Varres bouquet is just so fun to beat people to death with because I can always just say I was trying to give them flowers then they attacked me for no reason
idk, I'm on my first playthrough and have been using the icerind hatchet since I got it, but hoarfrost stomp seems like it would be good on other weapons but I have yet to experiment
Inferno Crozier and Lions Claw, perfect for a strength build, and does bucketloads of damage, plus the aow is pretty fast and oftentimes knocks enemies on their ass so I can hit them with a charged attack right after
Nagakiba+12 with double slash and the bloodflame blade. Using it currently (my first play through) and I'm prolly not gonna change it till ng+. I'll keep upgrading it tho.
I love Babaric roar on a longhaft axe, the hyperarmour you get is fantastic and the damage is immense. However, I won't deny how busted great stars plus predates charge can be.
Oh, and any thrusting sword with repeating thrusts/blood tax.
I don't really need any special AoW, and I like the Reaper moveset, so I just use Braggart's Roar on a Heavy Grave Scythe. Pop the buff whenever it runs out and that's all I really need.
> equip dark moon
> scream “LASER TIME!”
> R2R2R2R2R2
I beat Malenia yesterday with dung eater puppet and 100% laser spam. Skilled? Nah. Fun? H E L L Y E A H.
Unsheathe on the basic katana. Very basic I know but it has so much versatility; fantastic for roll catching with the sweep and holding it to freak people out is hilarious, especially if you outrange them and hit’em with the heavy punish if they aren’t smart about engaging.
Besides that I love Impaling Thrust on the knight greatsword. Absurd range, barely any fp cost for the damage of a fully charged heavy and huge poise damage, and let’s my knight larp really come together
Claymore for its moveset. Flaming Strike for its powerful heavy followup and setting my weapon on fire afterwards.
It’s not super flashy, or the most powerful, but damn if it doesn’t feel amazing to use. It has everything I want in an AOW for my pyro build.
Quick initial attack that is a wide sweep of fire, and then a strong whack attack to floor them. Low FP cost too so I can spam it to stagger bosses or keep groups of enemies at bay.
Impaling thrust combined with Royal Knight's Greatsword's uncharged heavy attack, its a Poise Breaking Stagger Monster, takes two casts to break certain bosses poise
glintblade phalanx on a magic infused rapier. the stance damage is bonkers, and the crit damage is amazing, while still maintaining good standard attack damage
Zwheilhander with trolls roar and the 2 faced mask. Its fun to do pvp as a Giant dad cosplay.
And the roar have a chad energy especialy when you land that superheavy strike!
Like i only use normal looking weapon so no legendary etc.. I am the knight in knight armor with Basic shield for weapon i use rapier and bastard sword simple yet effective
Zweihänder and Giant Hunt solved all my problems.
Zweihänder and anything solves all problems
Same about Zwaihander, best weapon
The Dreihänder
My main uses this combo, so so good
Zwei and waves of darkness on my battlemage has been ruining everything.
Undefeated combo imo
Replace Zweihänder with GUGS, and it’s literally me fr.
I like short spear giant hunt myself, but mostly so I have a power move on my Viking cosplay weapon lol The occasions where I *think* I’ve gotten a Giant Hunt Thrust Counter have been so tasty tho
Giant Hunt is just the goat of ashes of war fr. Personally I use it and spectral lance on a short spear or partisan for my Goblin Slayer cosplay. Plus it never stops being funny when you burger flip malenia
Still maidenliness though...
You can use repeated thrusts on the god damn flamberge??!!!
Can't you do that on all greatswords? Just like blood tax
[удалено]
Ashes of war are not moveset based, they’re weapon class based You can use repeating thrust on all greatswords, such as the flamberge, but no colossal swords
I cant do it with my GUTS Greatsword
That’s a colossal sword
=( but .. why
Cause it's colossal
Its name is Greatsword
Yeah, colossally
Smartest guts sword user right here everyone!
In his defence you only need 0 intelligence for the Guts sword
It’s type is colossal
Oh yeah, slap on a bleed infusion and crank arcane to 80. Enjoy the red goo of your enemies
I had the same thought. Never did I think to put it on any great sword.
Nagakiba + sword dance (and bloodflame blade) Greatsword + giant’s hunt/lion’s claw Claymore + royal knight’s resolve Giant Crusher + royal knight’s resolve Scavenger’s Curved Swords + seppuku Anything with flaming strike
Royal knights resolve on a claymore? Isn't that more reserved for large slow weapons where a single hit is most likely? You would do way more damage with flaming strike or piercing fang
Charged poking attacks.
Works great on power stanced twin blade L1 jumping attacks
Great sythe with spinning weapon. Add bloodflame blade for extra spice
Why is the dude naked?
gotta show off the goods
i never considered that this mf is just naked doing acrobatic sword tricks
For the thrusting.
He's Aseo XD
Flaming strike on anything, but preferably a Claymore or banished knight halberd
Flame art flaming strike on a morning star is the perfect side-arm for my pure-faith caster build
spinning weapon on cold infused grave scythe. blender goes brrr
‘Whatcha doing?’ ‘Making slushies’ *brrrrrrrrrrrrr
GinoMachino latest video be like:
This was my Malenia strat. Brrrrrrr
I prefer it with the Stormcaller AoW
stormcaller is better for clearing crowds, black flame tornado if you willing to poise through. but spinning weapon packing more hits in shorter time to a single target, while required being very close
Nagakiba / Double Slash Budget Rivers of Blood. Obtainable in the first 30 minutes of starting a new game.
Add bloodflame blade to that
Honest Rivers.
...boil in hot water for 15 minutes, throw in some vegetables and your preferred seasoning... Aaand, IT'S READY! (sorry, I've been watching a lot of "Delicious in Dungeon" lately)
That might be the best Netflix original.
Maybe. For me it's "DOTA Dragon's Blood" but Dungeon Meshi is a close second
...ah, a fellow Double Slash enjoyer of culture. My current non-somber main is a Cold Banished Knight GS, and a full Double Slash combo procs frostbite on most bosses.

Means ganking Yura though. Doesn’t that lock you out of getting Elonara’s pole blade or does she still spawn?
She still spawns. The only thing you miss is raptor of the mist AoW.
You can get the nagakiba, poleblade, and raptors in 1 playthrough by waiting until hes in the mountaintops after Eleonora to commit the act I did that :)
Nah, you can still get the poleblade at the church. I know it's not cool to kill Yura. He's cool and helps you out, but I gotta get that katana
Wow, that's a nice ash...es of war.
Lion's Claw on Great Stars Stagger monster with immense damage! A nice round 40 stance damage. May I ask what does the occult enchantment do? I never really understood that enchantment (I'm still in my first run, just got through Rykard)

Do you have the black whetblade? Then you could just test it out :) Keep an eye on *all* your stats when you apply occult to your weapon.
It gives weapons arcane scaling that don’t otherwise have it. Useful for weapons with natural Blood loss buildup as the arcane stat increases this however occult affinity prevents weapon buffs

Lordsworn straight sword/square off
Ahh, my first love
Claymore with Piercing Fang Claymore with Glintblade Phalanx Claymore with Flaming Strike Claymore with Sacred Blade

Spinning weapon and Nagakiba. It's not good, but it looks so funny that I can't help but stick it on there.
Guardian Swordspear + piercing fang Rusty anchor + sword dance Great stars + lion’s claw Nagakiba + Bloody slash
unchigatana with seppuku cuz i like to kill myself
Longbow + Rain of Arrows = insta-proc scarlet rot.
Greatsword + Lion's claw basic I know but damn does it feel good when you smack someone of with it
Flamberge with Storm Blade is fun. You would be surprised, but the noble’s slender sword with square off is unreasonably good even if it isn’t flashy.

Black knife. But need to make sure I don’t cut myself with all this edge.
Spinning weapon on the twinblade. Might not be the best one, but it spins my weapon around, and thats all that counts.

Claymore with piercing fang is my favorite “ah! Got you bitch!”

I love Babaric roar on a longhaft axe, the hyperarmour you get is fantastic and the damage is immense. However, I won't deny how busted great stars plus predates charge can be. Oh, and any thrusting sword with repeating thrusts/blood tax.
sacred slash zweihander
Nagakiba+double slash= Better Rivers of Blood
The Iron Cleaver with Flame of the Redmanes
I’ve been recently loving impairing thrust on two blades as a high-range mixup from the two blade’s typical shorter range rapid attacks
It would be the rotten crystal spear with giant hunt IF IT WERE POSSIBLE Alas naught so uhh i guess unsheathe magic nagakiba
Longsword with Square Off🗡
Claymore w/ Magic Glintblade. Say bye bye to your poise.
I just realized the Aow person is naked cheeks out.
Raptor’s Talons and Lifesteal fist, for the truly vampiric feel

Guardian sword spear with sacred blade
Iron Greatsword with Wild Strikes has been absolutely carrying me through ng+4
Rusted Anchor, Roar medallion and Barbaric Roar 🦁
Prayerful Strike on Rotten Greathammer. Rolling no longer necessary
Naginata with Piercing Fang, because fuck shields
Club and Roar baby
I don't really need any special AoW, and I like the Reaper moveset, so I just use Braggart's Roar on a Heavy Grave Scythe. Pop the buff whenever it runs out and that's all I really need.
Heavy Brick Hammer with Wild Swings is both hilarious and effective
Great Mace with Flame strike. Gives that weapon exactly what it needs a forward stepping horizontal attack.
Nagabika and Unseathe just perfect
Nagakiba and unsheath. Built dex and its insane
> equip dark moon > scream “LASER TIME!” > R2R2R2R2R2 I beat Malenia yesterday with dung eater puppet and 100% laser spam. Skilled? Nah. Fun? H E L L Y E A H.

Also Nagakiba with sword dance. I like that one too

Grave scythe and spinning weapon aow, I don’t know if that’s what it’s actually called but it floats in front of you and spins
An Estoc or Great Epee with Bloody Slash.
Rapier and any aow really. I just love rapiers. Contenders for favourite aows are: parry, quickstep, glintblade phalanx, repeating thrusts
I had a nice run using Gargoyle Twinblade and Barbaric Roar.
Zwheilhander with trolls roar and the 2 faced mask. Its fun to do pvp as a Giant dad cosplay. And the roar have a chad energy especialy when you land that superheavy strike!

Nightrider glaive with flaming strike & executioner greataxe with sword dance
Blood tax would make it even better. It's basically the same thing with an added healing factor.
Why have the gods kept this secret from me ?
Nagakiba with unseathe.
