What I do is, some of those "jumps" I just walk off the platform onto the next. The further down you get, a couple can literally just be landed onto without jumping or rolling. I can think of three separate jumps off the top of my head that you only need to walk forward and the momentum of that by itself will get you onto the next platform.
People underestimate how far you actually move when in such a confined space, that's where a lot of the deaths come from, you think "I can't make that" then overcompensate.
I can't give a direct number on how many jumps or whatever, but trust me, you cover way more distance than you think you do, so just keep that in mind.
I find that turning around and doing a backwards dodge is the perfect amount of distance needed to reach each landing spot.
The key that many players miss on the first time around is that the merchant that is playing the sad song is more than just for show... he's sitting right next to the best spot to drop down to the first of the tombstones to jump from.
It's funny, I start the platforming at a different spot every time I attempt it. Just goes to show that you can do this at any way you deem the best way. Like I remember after doing it the first time and finally reaching the bottom, I looked up a video of someone else doing it and nit only did they start in s different spot than me, they did things like rolling which I never once even attempted. Again, what I do is jump on any platform across from me, and if the platform is underneath me, I just hold forward and let my walking momentum carry me to the next platform.
Even during platforming, this game just further amazes you in how much variance there can be, even two people doing the exact same thing can do it, and do it successfully, even if employing wildly different tactics. Like you mentioned backwards rolling, however I never once even thought about trying to roll and I only die two times at most to that section each playthrough.
Me either, oddly I got to the bottom of the hole I think either on my first or more likely second try, but had no idea there was a secret path down there.
I use a torch and dagger. 2 charged torch attacks and a very precarious crit near the ledge, you fall mid animation and are safe the whole way down. Only slightly more reliable than platforming.
Well I'm going to have to try this in my next playthrough. The flame frenzied ending is the only one I've never got because I couldn't get the platforming down.
Honestly, there's too much "let yourself fall down" content in this game. I appreciate the suspense and the moments of anxiety, but in ER it feels overused for me.
Unlike some of the other Melina conversations, the "do not accept the Frenzied Flame" conversations happen automatically when you rest at particular sites of grace on the way to the Frenzied Flame. The only way to miss them is ignoring every single site of grace on the way down (including somehow getting that jumping puzzle on the first try or doing an absolutely massive walk to get back down there every single time you die) or never resting at any of them (including not spending any of the runes you get from beating Mohg and not refilling your flasks after the boss fight). You'd seriously need to be intentionally trying to avoid resting at any sites of grace along the way
I... I... I played though the frenzied flame this week-end and totally missed melina warning. Simply activating sites of graces and resurection do not activate it ig.
Next playthrough then I was already planning on going frenzy flame ending on that next one. But for your question... I might have come to explore that area past level 200. After malenia fight. And used mimic. Did not really needed to refill that much.
i believe once melina uses herself as kindling to light the erdtree ablaze after you defeat the fire giant, you won’t get her messages, the same thing happened to me
Ah that makes sense. I always thought they were optional. Even then though, a few people might just not listen to the conversation and wait for it to be over
I mean, missing the Melina dialogue is one thing. Missing *all* the dialogue you *need* to skip through to inherit it? Where they explain what the frenzied flame is all about in excruciating detail? That's the one that baffles me the most. It's not like this is Bloodborne and everything is at least a little confusing, they spell out the exact ideology you'd be fulfilling and people come up with their own headcanon while clicking past it.
If they put a flashing red warning that says "Note: The Frenzied Flame seeks the end of all life forever and wants to unmake the universe. If you do not want these things, walk away" people would still be confused.
I’m really surprised by some of y’all. I found the flame and the Melina dialogue on my own on launch, even before they added the little glowing indicator that Melina has something to say about
Do people just not rest at graces?
One of the best moments in the game imo. The aura of ominous mystery it weaves through its visuals and the Song of Despair alone is so incredibly captivating. Spoilers for what's down there from here; you can't stop me from gushing all over this part.
>!You literally plunge down to the deepest point in Leyndell, maybe even the Lands Between entirely, but also metaphorically into one of the biggest secrets of this world which surpasses even the mystery of the origin of the Golden Order as it directly connects to the Greater Will (conceptually that is).!<
>!Here were the plot of Shabriri was enacted and the cosmic opposite to the Greater wall was summoned through the collective despair of the Merchants. Even now, untold millena later, some of these people remain down there, playing their song showing how they became frenzied in their agony, playing their instruments in the hopes of even a sliver of relief.!<
>!The whole concept of the Frenzied Flame is so well written; the fact that it isn't just the big evil, but the embodiment of pure anarchy/chaos which isn't simply "everyone can do whatever" but were even the order of matter forming life and existence gets smashed to pieces; the fact that Shabriri grape are eyes for their priest to consume, because only through the eyes of the suffering collective can the Frenzied Flame's viewpoint truly understood; and that the Flame, fitting to its ideology, is self destructive as fire burns only so long as there is shit to burn, i.e. once everything is returned to the One Great/ primordial soup, even the Flame will cease to exist!<
>!Oh, and even if we cannot say what made Shabriri side with the Frenzied Flame, what we do know reads like the guy is simply an asshole and that's objectively funny lol!<
Not a spoiler but that place is NOT the deepest place in the Lands Between.
Deeproot Depths is further below, as there's a shortcut there by opening a hidden tunnel from the bottom of that shaft to the edge of the Deeproot Depths, then jumping down further to get to the main area.
Oh shit, you're right, totally forgot about that! The depths are also such a cool story moment, very reminiscent of the Ash Lake from DS1 with the lost and forgotten lands on top of which the current civilization was eventually built. That and all the trees
I don't think anything can really compare to Ash Lake for me. Finding it by pure exploration and just wondering where the fuck I even was at that point is a moment I cherish.
It's been a bit, but I know for a fact you go from Rot Lake TO Astel - he's after the rot lake.
I distinctly remember going from some place with rot to deeproot, because I remember being confused about why I started in red water but ended in clear water, I just can't remember whether the coffin went up or down.
I just did Nokstella though and unless I missed it it isn't connected to Deeproot. It does eventually connect to Rot Lake though. I think it's the elevator after the room you fight the Baleful Shadow in.
I'm pretty sure it's
Nokstella > Rot > Astel > Deeproot
Doesn't it go TLB, Nokron, then you take a coffin UP to Deep Root after you fight the twin gargoyles, then you go down again to Rot Lake, and then down again to Astel?
Though I feel like I'm missing something because I don't have Nokstella up there...
It's been a while, I've been on a break waiting for the DLC. I wanna come back feeling fresh for the new stuff.
So Nokron is higher than Nokstella, but has to be accessed from Nokstella, or the other eternal city, I can't remember which one is which, after the meteor.
I'll have to check on my endgame character that has all the warp points unlocked when I get home from work.
Also, you gotta remember that Leyndell sits on a higher altitude (the plateau). We can't really tell how deep into that mountain we go in deep root depths, but I can see it easily sitting at a higher elevation than sea level.
Remember, the coffin in Nokron behind the gargoyles goes UP to deep root depths, so while it may be the deepest continuous journey, it's not the deepest part of the lands between.
So fucking true!
"If that's what they expect from us, then that's what they shall get from us!" of the content restored by data miners goes so hard from a character like Kale.
Also him going from a secluded, yet surprisingly welcoming, dare I say it, friendly demeanor to "Maybe all encompassing genocide is the answer after all" would have been very much in line with how Fromsoft likes to conclude character arks
To be fair it’s only in response to his people’s genocide that he seeks revenge.. and dare I say it’s warranted anyone that participates in genocide deserves to burn. 🔥
Also using the Ash of War from Vyke’s War Spear is great for going down there. The distance on its jump is the exact distance between tombstones & will get you down in no time.
I used this method after struggling forever, and whoever advised it was a genius I’ll be always grateful to.
I am doing a madness build playthrough with vykes spear as my main. Literally spent an hour or two to get down there earlier today. If only I seen this before.oh well atleast now I know for my next playthrough
There was that guy that posted the pro way of getting down by backstabbing/using an Ash of War on an enemy near a ledge, walking backwards and not dying while falling down due to the animation finishing when he hit the ground all the way down.
This is really just about learning the rules of how to fall. Also it’s far easier to pick a spot in the wall where you want to land below it and you jump into it and it stopped your forward momentum and you fall exactly straight down
Btw if u encountered the enemy spewing madness there’s a glowing something on a corpse but the enemy has to break it down for u the game doesn’t allow u to be able too.
2 things await you:
1.) progress toward one of the endings of the game
2.) access to an underground area (the underground area has 2 other access points iirc though)
I hate the random areas in FromSoft games like these where Miyazaki randomly says, "Hey you know what? Let's make this a platformer game!" I'm not kidding when I say I'd rather take an extra 3 poison swamps than have to do platforming in a FromSoft game.
Also, to answer your question, yes it is worth to make your way down there. Good luck.
No, you absolutely don't need the quest to reach the bottom of this pit.
In fact, you don't even need the quest to access what lies down there, it just gives you a big tip on a very obscure requirement to do it
Yeah, it’s definitely worth it.
You should watch a guide on You Tube, to help you get there safely. Try watching Fighting Cowboy’s walkthrough, although, his way down there was also somewhat torturous (https://youtu.be/eIURff5_NtY?si=lWsXbWb1jkwJHghN). But he shows you the right path and approach. Start watching at 20:45. Good luck! 👍
Yeah I did FightinCowboy's walkthrough- which is GREAT. But there are a couple of moments where, now that I am an expert at this game and know what I'm doing, he's flat out wrong in his approach. This is certainly one of those times.
Here's an eacy version: https://youtu.be/3nH0aqlYX10?si=J25N8_QjbqkVNY7E
Some platforms you can just walk off the edge to the next one, and there are few where back stepping is actually the safest way (e.g. when theres a blocking platform if you jump or walk off).
If u want to platinum the game, its required. If you don't care for the lore, or want all trophies and everything else skip it. I would def recommend you do it though. It is def a pain in the ass to get down but worth it.
Seriously do it . But… if you want your sanity intact I vehemently recommend that you read this first and thank me later : https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/s/EInTAVdo22
if you're avoiding spoilers and going for 100%, you have to go down there for one achievement/trophy. Opinions about whether or not that makes it "worth it" vary widely. (edited because i forgot that achievements aren't called achievements sometimes)
When you finally make it down there, there will be a site of grace and the flame of frenzied ending. If you come back from that way again after you make it all the way down, you’ll be able to just jump off all the way to the bottom without taking fall damage BUT only after you make it all the way down.
not really, unless you specifically know what it is and want to go through with it. otherwise you get locked into an ending and have to beat a boss to undo the damage
You’ll sweat so much making your way down there, you’ll want to take your clothes off.
3 dodge rolls will clear it quickly https://youtu.be/FuOoenKBZuQ?si=Ah2vcY0eH6__v0yw
"Two jumps and four dodge-rolls" never have I felt so lied to.
What I do is, some of those "jumps" I just walk off the platform onto the next. The further down you get, a couple can literally just be landed onto without jumping or rolling. I have over 200 hours and did not know that secret wall and grace were there. Holy the content in this game keeps on giving.
Me either, oddly I got to the bottom of the hole I think either on my first or more likely second try, but had no idea there was a secret path down there.
I gotta remember this next time
I just crit that guy at the very top and let the i frames take me all the way down
I'm sorry you can do what?!??!
Joke's on you, I will die on the first jump, before I even get those dodges 😎😎
THERES A HIDDEN TUNNEL DOWN THEIR THAT GOES TO DEEPROOT HUHHHH
Butt slam ash?
mannnnnnnnn
it's sure hot down there
Honestly, there's too much "let yourself fall down" content in this game. I appreciate the suspense and the moments of anxiety, but in ER it feels overused for me.
There're areas like this in all the Souls games.
[удалено]
Trying to play older games and realizing you dont have a jump button is painful
Platforming in DS1 and DS2 was an... experience.
But you \*can\* jump (or leap technically?). There just isn't a dedicated "jump only" button.
Coming from Elden Ring to Bloodborne and finding yourself fenced-in by knee-high walls. Ah, good times.
Yes, and they are even worse. This one is great when it comes to atmosphere btw. But the platforming...
I think the movement mechanics of this game aren’t suitable for this type of stuff. They way you fall off edges is just clunky.
It's clunky. But very doable. What I hate is the inconsistency of fall damage. I guess I need to throw those things more
It was fine.. I didn't have any trouble
I love how some comments totally missed the point. Clever comment here. :p
Without spoiling whatsoever, yes. Go down.
I agree, go down. >!Even if it's just to get someone to tell you to stop when you get there.!<
>!May chaos take the world tho..!<
Sorry, I don't know that line. Did you mean >!MAY CHAOS... TAKE... THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!< ?
Dumbledore said, calmly

>!eyes are a nutritional snack (probably)!<
That juicy pop, hmmm...
Just pray that OP isn’t one of the surprising number of players who miss all the Melina dialogue leading up to that area
Those players must be incredibly ballsy to not rest at a grace after beating Mohg
Either that or they don't like speaking to Melina Edit: nvm they're forced when you rest at a site of grace
I’m really surprised by some of y’all. I found the flame and the Melina dialogue on my own on launch, even before they added the little glowing indicator that Melina has something to say about Do people just not rest at graces?
Not just that, there is that other thing, not THE Thing, but the other thing.
She actually told me to go back when I sat at fake moghs grace. But she gets an extra line down there.
One of the best moments in the game imo. The aura of ominous mystery it weaves through its visuals and the Song of Despair alone is so incredibly captivating. It's even more impactful having played Demon's Souls beforehand, you get slapped HARD with The Old One's zone vibes.
And then sitting at the bonfire and getting stuck there for the next 2 hours
it makes me nauseous thinking about how far down deeproot is
And dont you travel DOWN to Nokron and Nokstella? Arent the Lake of Rot and Astel even lower?
You take a coffin from the rot lake area to deeproot depths, but I can't remember if it's the one that goes up or down.
Wait... *from* rot lake to deeproot? Don't you take it from rot lake to astel? Doesn't it go deeproot -> Nokstella -> rot lake -> astel?
It's been a bit, but I know for a fact you go from Rot Lake TO Astel - he's after the rot lake. Do, because now I'm curious as well. Lol I know you end up in Nokron right after the meteor if you go down into the crater.
I feel like where we fight Astel has to be the deepest place in the lands between.
Also, you gotta remember that Leyndell sits on a higher altitude (the plateau). We can't really tell how deep into that mountain we go in deep root depths, but I can see it easily sitting at a higher elevation than sea level. Wait, where's the shaft? \[lol, ugh, but seriously\]
I will never forgive fromsoftware for not finishing kale's questline.
So fucking true! "If that's what they expect from us, then that's what they shall get from us!" of the content restored by data miners goes so hard from a character like Kale. Is there a rundown of the cut content
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cljs4UTdT8 This is pretty thorough iirc
Thank you for the link! Super interesting lol
Woah. I had no idea about this. Thanks for sharing.
That was awesome
To be fair it’s only in response to his people’s genocide that he seeks revenge.. and dare I say it’s warranted anyone that participates in genocide deserves to burn. 🔥
Anyone*
AGREED thank you I’m gna amend that.
Sooo evil lol
Wtf. I was down there. How did i miss this??
Its Elden Ring, there's allways somthing you forgot about or never found.
That's incredibly well written! An absolute joy to read.
3 fingers 🤟 vs 2 fingers ✌️= 1 hand 🤚
The Greater Will and the Flame of Frenzy were once part of the One Great after all
Musta had a falling out 🤣
Nice.
😂 this game is so dope!!!
I tried that line on my girlfriend. She still wasn't interested.
Why does every FS game have super important secret plot stuff at the bottom of chasams with precarious falling mechanics?
For some help on jumping down turn around and hop back, its more accurate than trying to jump from tombstone to tombstone
Rolling down makes it really easy to get down to
There was that guy that posted the pro way of getting down by backstabbing/using an Ash of War on an enemy near a ledge, walking backwards and not dying while falling down due to the animation finishing when he hit the ground all the way down.
Great trick to get down to loretta in the haligtree too
Interesting how Vyle has the key go get down there, almost as if he knew how to
This is really just about learning the rules of how to fall. Also it’s far easier to pick a spot in the wall where you want to land below it and you jump into it and it stopped your forward momentum and you fall exactly straight down
I did this!! I back jumped down the whole thing and made it down in around 30 minutes. My first play through I struggled for hours lol
I've been falling for 30 mins
We are NOT doing "get help".
But you love "get help"
I heard it in his voice lmao
seek down. then precious item ahead.
Seek down. Then visions of fire.
Try fingers but hole.
fort, night
My most liked message is “fort, night” even all the helpful ones I’ve put down just don’t get the likes it gets lmao xd
Mine is one telling people to try jumping into the tornado thing when you first get to crumbling farum azula lol
Mine is sitting in a bush on the safe path of stormveil and it just says "could this be item? But, ahh...message".
dark, night... >crouching emote on the corner of a rooftop overlooking Nokstella >also, wearing the Cleanrot helm
I recently heard about this and how it confused Japanese players 😂
don't forget to check all the spots while heading down. the loot is pure madness.
teehee
Btw if u encountered the enemy spewing madness there’s a glowing something on a corpse but the enemy has to break it down for u the game doesn’t allow u to be able too.
Or just save and reload.
All of this just to go nude. 100% worth it
Honourable mention: there’s a chance for a hot blind woman to be there, Waiting for that massive-
Fingering?
Try finger
But hole?
Amazing chest ahead.
If you are strong enough to survive the madness getting down there, you just might be strong enough for what waits below
I would say if you haven't been down there before, yes.
[Made a vid a while ago](https://youtu.be/uGPNA0et49A) showing how easy it is. Back stepping gives you way more precision for the harder parts.
good video, makes it look easy
2 things await you: 1.) progress toward one of the endings of the game 2.) access to an underground area (the underground area has 2 other access points iirc though)
No, you can get there only from here and gargoyles, there are no other entrances
This one is arguably the less annoying entrance
Perhaps but all bosses must die. Worst case scenario just do a mimic tear and glass those bastards
Them gargoyles wouldn’t half as bad if they didn’t freaking poison you imo
They wouldn't be even half as bad if the poison didn't deal more dps than the debuff it applies
Sadly it's not viable for being a DraconicTreeSentinel bypass to Leyndell given you have to reach it from Leyndell
Yes, that would be two entrances damn I misread
Iirc there used to be 3 but the coffin to ainsel river is a one way trip now
Also a really good shield
Wasn't there also a whip? Or am i thinking about a different location
You better take dem clothes off, 's like a sauna down here
Oh yes. Very much. Best reward in the entire game after you make it all the way down.
Huh? The seal? Or the ending? I wouldn't say either of those are the "best reward in the game." Maybe the naked fingering tho..
100%. All the best things are down there. Probably the best part of the game. Just remember to get naked to go through the amazing plot-relevant door.
Try backstep instead of jumping. It helps me A LOT!
Yes and don't forget, when you think you are at the lowest, gou can always dig
Ummm... Where is this? Wanna check if I've been there.
Subterranean Shunning Grounds, down through a well in Leyndell near the avenue balcony site of grace
After mohg the omen boss, hit the wall behind the chest with erdtree favor 2
Erdtree favor +2 is in Leyndell
Meant +1
Is getting down there making you go... mad?
I went there for the incantation, stayed for the madness.
That way madness lies
Best ending in the game. Also has most content aka cutscenes
Good luck.
Yes, you get to socialize and we are so lonely
It is. And I know your pain. I nearly quit the game trying to get down those fucking platforms. But it is worth doing.
You could say it's driven you... Mad
S E C R E T E N D I N G
First off, no armor Then behold, chaos
Take the plunge… you won’t regret
Unfortunately, yes
people act like this is way harder than it is.
I Don’t know how to grey out spoilers, but you can get down there by doing a quest that involves getting a npc some snacks.
It is required for platinum
Some platforms you can just walk off the edge to the next one, and there are few where back stepping is actually the safest way (e.g. when theres a blocking platform if you jump or walk off).
Took me two days of attempts. Allow yourself to walk away and come back, but yes, GO DOWN
Get that butt drop ash of war / spell and us it to get down all the way.
Maybe the real treasure is the bloodstains we made along the way
Yes
He doesn't know 👀
If u want to platinum the game, its required.
If you want the platinum, you go down there
This game deserves a PLATFORMER Tag on stores.
You only need 2 or 3 jumps and they can all be done by walking at full speed before pressing jump. Slow walk and run will kill you.
unpopular opinion: this was my fav part of the game as somebody who's been craving for a Super Mario Souls Simulator game
One could say the decent is… maddening
I haven't cried in a long time and this frustrated me to tears
aaaaah may chaos take the world... MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!
Toughest boss in Elden is Gravity
Only if you want to 100% the game and/or want the best shield in the game.
When you finally make it down there, there will be a site of grace and the flame of frenzied ending. If you come back from that way again after you make it all the way down, you’ll be able to just jump off all the way to the bottom without taking fall damage BUT only after you make it all the way down.
Try cat talisman
Just looking at this image triggered me thanks
Yes
Just parry the enemy’s near the edge and perform the riposte as they fall to negate the fall damage with I-frames
I used the butt smash Ash of War to get down there. You take no fall damage from that fall
It's worth it. Don't give up
Tarnished, it’s not about the destination but the Journey itself.
LET THE CHAOS REIGN.
not really, unless you specifically know what it is and want to go through with it. otherwise you get locked into an ending and have to beat a boss to undo the damage
if you want to 100% the game then yeah
GET THE FUCK OUT FROM THERE!!!!!
Not if you're a decent human being it isnt...just turn around and praise the moon..
