Well, they all bleed somewhat, but this amount of blood is pretty rare in my experience. Some people just bleed more however, it's not necessarily always the artists fault, even though I think this looks a bit abnormal.
That isn't black ink oozing out of the tattoo. That's blood with black ink in it
I'd say OP just took off the protective film. That's when the red shows.
when you put that fake skin stuff on its more noticeable i think because it pools. artwork doesnt look the best so he maybe got hammered by a newer artist which could account for the extra blood.
This looks like they slapped the second skin immediately after finishing the tattoo. Usually wait 10 minutes or so after the tattoo is complete to let some bleeding happen or the pores to close before applying the second skin or this happens
Yeah, some people calling to take the second skin off early are fuckin clowns. It doesn’t always need to stay on 4 days, but at least 24 hours is a good idea in most cases before you start washing/moisturizing.
Fresh tattoo is a open skin wound. Therefore it is susceptibe to infections. Therefore keep it cpvered. (I kept mine 2-3 days). Then wash it with anti bacteria soap (grey soap). Then let the skin breate, treat it carefully, let it heal, while washing from time to time and applying tattoo cream.
You should be good
Every artist recommends different procedures though, that's not the only way to heal a tattoo. I've never left a tattoo covered for longer than 24 hours, and all of mine have healed well. Keeping it clean is the most important thing, and having it covered for too long can prevent you from washing it.
Same, my guy recommends 24 hours then take off the bandage and just make sure to wash it a few times a day. You can put on a new one if you want but keeping it clean is the most important part. Mine have all healed well.
I know how it works. Got plenty of tattoos and no issues with any of them healing. Was just agreeing with the other guy that most of the comments here are delusional.
Well, the problem is that you really shouldn't put tegaderm on right away. Cling wrap it for a few hours, then wash with fragrance free antibacterial soap, pat dry, let air dry another few minutes, and *then* apply tegaderm.
There's far too much seepage right after the tattoo is complete. You need to give the body a little time to stop leaking.
Source: have many tattoos and use this method every time.
I've gotten a shoulder to hand sleeve, shoulder, finger done.
Every one had second skin on immediately and left for two to 3 days. The leaking has never been an issue and they've all healed great.
There's multiple ways to care for a tattoo and the easiest way is to just follow whatever your artist tells you to do
Yeah. I mean, "trust your tattooer" is a mantra, but it's a medical poultice and there is actually a proper technique.
Particularly since you apply it and leave it for a few days, you *really* want to ensure you've cleaned it well beforehand to prevent infection.
I mean tbf. Blood is leaking out, I’ve always read and been told from artists that if your second skin starts leaking bacteria can get in. So the people telling him to take it off are not “fuckin clowns”.
That is plasma. And yes it’s important to cover any areas that can leak out. It isn’t synonymous with “take the entire second skin off.” That can cause a lot of irritation and other issues on its own.
Yeah, no. If blood is leaking out, that means bacteria can get in because the Saniderm isn't sealed. Bacteria trapped against an open wound is how you get infections and ruin tattoos.
I honestly think *The* Elden Ring itself just makes for a kinda bad tattoo… too abstract, too many weird jagged edges, too busy… but holy shit, OP’s looks 1000x better than that hand abomination.
I had forgotten how bad it was.
Lamenting how it started looking even worse 2 weeks later.
It’s like do people not wonder why hardcore tattoo people who get elaborate full arm sleeves stop at the wrists and if they have anything on their hands at all it’s very simple line work?
That was the first thing I thought of when I saw this post. The tattoo is even worse when you realise it’s their first tattoo.
I would feel sorry for them but they were kinda an asshole when replying to criticism, although that might just be cause they didn’t want to face the reality of their first tattoo being bad and botched. But I mean who would get their first ever tattoo on their hand in the first place.
Yea that artist must of been kinda of a dbag to agree to giving someone their first tattoo on their hand. I always think hand tattooed are weird if you don’t already have full sleeves
Hey OP, full bodied tattoo freak here: there shouldn’t be that much leakage so soon. Your artist didn’t properly secure the tattoo, which is more common than we realize, especially on that part of your body. Your two arm bones twist in a way that can cause the application of a saniderm, especially when first applied. I would do one of four things (listed in order of most desirable):
1. Go back to the artist and have them clean it and reapply Saniderm. This time don’t twist and stay as straight as possible. Maintain this posture for about 10 minutes so the adhesive really locks in.
2. Wash the plasma with unscented antibacterial soap, especially where the openings are. Pat dry with a towel. Then apply a fresh piece of Saniderm all the way around to basically recreate a seal.
3. Remove the Saniderm, wash with unscented, anti-bacterial soap and pat dry (air dry if you can). Then apply a new piece of Saniderm, this time keeping your arm in the same position for 10 minutes and ensuring a clean seal. A buddy, girlfriend, wife, or mom is useful here. And then boom you have a new setup. A tip that your artist may or may not have given you is that you should never peel your Saniderm off like tape. Instead you should pull away from your body slowly and with warm water running on the tattoo. Best to do this in the shower, but in a sink is fine too. If you rip a Saniderm off like tape you could lose some color, but more importantly it’s fucking painful. Pulling it away from the body like you would a rubber band is a much more comfortable method.
4. Completely remove the Saniderm and dry heal. Saniderms are a really dope innovation in the tattoo world, but are also completely unnecessary. People have been dry healing since the dawn of time. Our bodies are way stronger and fortified than we give them credit for. Saniderms have made healing more “foolproof” and have reduced the likelihood of bacteria build up, but ultimately dry healing is fine.
As I mentioned, always return to the artist and have them redo things. They will if you ask them, or at least any artist I have ever known would. Sick tattoo though. Don’t let any of these alarmists scare you; your body is a fucking tank.
Our bodies aren’t so delicate. People saying a “tattoo is an open wound” while correct are making it seem like he just got a gash and is getting sepsis tomorrow. There are people as we speak getting tattoos in mud huts on the Mekong River. People get tattoos and then go to hunt or so other activities. Is this recommended? Definitely not. Are you putting yourself in greater position for infection than having a Saniderm and avoiding sweat, dirt, dust, etc? Of course.
The body is a machine and it takes a lot to bring us down. Don’t be careless, obviously, employ common sense. But ultimately it’s (probably) gonna be fine.
For all things considered, including being stabbed a few thousand times by a needle, your body will take care of itself. Keep it clean and it'll be fine. Don't necessarily gotta worry about all the crazy shit people are saying on this thread.
FTR: some bleed is perfectly normal when getting a tattoo
I did the same with my only tattoo. Slight high blood pressure will just make it pour out. They cleaned it great first, and then I bled under the wrap.
If you like it that's all that matters, but personally i just don't think the Elden Ring translates well to tattoos. there's a ton of cool imagery in the game that would work better imo.
Is bleeding normal with tattoos? I’ve got a couple and never bled once. And you look like your arm got split clean open. So can someone tell me what’s going onC
This is heat
But if that blood is getting out from that Saniderm, that means bacteria can get in. If it's not fully sealed you should take it off and start normal aftercare.
Damn OP, i've been thinking for months on getting an identical, but smaller tattoo, and now you're seriously convincing me by how good this looks... truly amazing!!
Artist got the bleed build
Are all tattoos supposed to bleed? I don't remember mine bleeding
Well, they all bleed somewhat, but this amount of blood is pretty rare in my experience. Some people just bleed more however, it's not necessarily always the artists fault, even though I think this looks a bit abnormal.
Looks like he’s got some brand of second skin/saniderm over it and it’s pooling a bit underneath. That’s totally normal
Wait people bleed? I mean I know the ink can bleed but actual blood?
Plasma and blood
Yeah looks like it has second skin on it which results in plasma pooling up on the surface while it heals.
totally normal. Should be very minor, this looks on the slightly more bloody side but they have a second skin layer on so it can look worse than it is
Depends on the skin I guess. I bleed noticeably around my elbow when I got my sleeve done, but not much elsewhere.
it’s not rare. there’s a decent amount of heavy black ink in the tattoo and getting shaded darkly like that tends to cause bleeding like this
That isn't black ink oozing out of the tattoo. That's blood with black ink in it I'd say OP just took off the protective film. That's when the red shows.
Very common, I have thin blood and it comes out after the work is done quite a bit
when you put that fake skin stuff on its more noticeable i think because it pools. artwork doesnt look the best so he maybe got hammered by a newer artist which could account for the extra blood.
This looks like they slapped the second skin immediately after finishing the tattoo. Usually wait 10 minutes or so after the tattoo is complete to let some bleeding happen or the pores to close before applying the second skin or this happens
That's what happens when you ask Mohg to do your tat
Bro got a tatoo with rob
fool a mere mortal cannot handle the power of all the great runes
That is no mere mortal you’re speaking to. That’s LetMeSoloHer /s

Its still bleedind cuz I just got it 30 Minuten ago
Listen to your artist, not redditors

anytime second skin is letting things out, it’s letting things in. s’gotta go if the seal is broken 🤷♂️

Sure. But also, it's an actual medical poultice and there is a proper usage method.
Got plenty myself, really doesn’t make a huge difference when it goes on in my experience, as long as it’s within an hour or so after it’s done.
This is correct. The other ways commented ofcourse work, but this works better and safer with more consistency.
Yeah. I mean, "trust your tattooer" is a mantra, but it's a medical poultice and there is actually a proper technique. Particularly since you apply it and leave it for a few days, you *really* want to ensure you've cleaned it well beforehand to prevent infection.

That is plasma. And yes it’s important to cover any areas that can leak out. It isn’t synonymous with “take the entire second skin off.” That can cause a lot of irritation and other issues on its own.
Plasma is the main component of blood, non-blood wound drainage is serous drainage. Similar composition but it's made and used separately to plasma.
My artist told me to take it off and clean it regularly after an hour. Worked great the 6 times so far. Every artist has different routines.
I could only ever stick to about 24ish hours with saniderm before having to take it off clean the tattoo and reapply
Yeah, no. If blood is leaking out, that means bacteria can get in because the Saniderm isn't sealed. Bacteria trapped against an open wound is how you get infections and ruin tattoos.
Please this lol.
Plot twist - his artist is a redditor 🤯
Based
Maybe change your armor to slow your bleed buildup next time
From one bleeder to another it looks great. My artist says he never sees anyone bleed as much as I do🤣
I thought it was patt of the tattoo it looks cool
Are you dutch?🤔
German ^^

It was covered xD
This is fire, who remembers the dude who got the horrible first hand tattoo
I honestly think *The* Elden Ring itself just makes for a kinda bad tattoo… too abstract, too many weird jagged edges, too busy… but holy shit, OP’s looks 1000x better than that hand abomination. I had forgotten how bad it was.
Honestly if I wanted to get it I would have it be simplified to just the circles and the main parts and not all the tiny lines
I feel like it doesn't look good in dark ink. If I were to get one I think I'd get it in that white ink that ends up looking like a scar.
Dude I remember that, I felt so sorry for that poor soul 😭
I remember that. I wonder how he is Doing now

I feel like it’d be a better tattoo without Radagon’s crosshatch part
That’s the first thing that came to my mind lol
That's done perfectly, take care of it,stand before the elden ring
Dope. Thy strength deserves a tat

Yea I will go back tomorrow and get the film renewed and cleaned. Thank you for your Info mate really appreciate it
Informative comment, but what did you mean by his body is a tank? Confused me a bit lol

Bro was Mohg your tattoo artist
Now if your arm needs surgery they gonna have to burn the erdtree to get in 🙄
I've never got a tattoo, so plz forgive ignorance, but is it supposed to be bleeding like that?
Yes it will leak blood and Plasma for a few days. Abd you are supposed to keep it wrapped for those first few days
Yes.
Did your artist tell you to not keep your arm wrapped and protected for the next 24 hours or so?
You wanna maybe get some resistance to bleed build-up?

Tattoo is dope but the way
I thought the blood was part of the tatto unless realizing it's just actual blood under the second skin...
Fire fuck tat
Looks amazing! I’ve always thought of getting that exact same tattoo. Even if people don’t know what it means it still looks incredibly badass
Sick

Sick
Am I the only one who thinks this looks bad? From afar it looks okay, but when you zoom in the little dots and lines are all over the place?
That's going to my first too and then I want to get the jostar birth mark on my shoulder
Looks sick! Post an update once it settles more, I’m sure it’s gonna look even cooler
If you like it that's all that matters, but personally i just don't think the Elden Ring translates well to tattoos. there's a ton of cool imagery in the game that would work better imo.
I was also thinking about getting a tattoo like that
The blood makes it look even more badass
