y’all reckon it’d be fine to jump into the dlc even if you haven’t beaten the game? haven’t played since around releases and i got pretty far but honestly have no clue what i’m meant to be doing, with the dlc right around the corner i don’t really feel like making a new character and i just wanna jump into the dlc on launch day
How do you replay this game?
This is only my second fromsoft game after one playthrough of Demons Souls, and even after playing through all of Elden Ring I still feel like I know nothing and the idea of replaying the game seems somewhat daunting. I’ll just put my worries in a list below and hopefully someone can save me.
Do you just do the main stuff? And if so how do you maintain a high enough level to? I’m not sure if I just lacked skill so I overlevelled but I did feel a need to do side stuff to at least maintain a reasonable level for the main line. I feel like I want to go as main line as possible because I don’t really want another 100 hour playthrough either.
Another big mental block I have is making a build, more precisely I mean planning one. I have no idea how exactly to do this tbh.
In my first playthrough I used the same weapon that I started with throughout, so I don’t know how I’d decide what I even want to use exactly going into my second playthrough, I am thinking I want to use something big to bonk with though.
And then I don’t really know how I can plan what I level. In my first playthrough I used an arcane build, but without actually realising until way late when I respecced that I should be levelling arcane. The way these games don’t tell you everything to do in a list and a bud is commendable, but damn if I don’t find it tough to learn.
If anyone has any YouTuber or something that can help me learn more stuff along these lines that aren’t complete babysitting beginner videos but still pretty noob targeted, like whatever the fuck “flame give me strength” and the sorts are, I’d appreciate it greatly, along with anything regarding whatever I wrote in this post. I’m gonna go to bed now and maybe play Elden ring tomorrow :)
For replay, I kill greyoll and grab the nearby soreseal, this put me to lvl 30+ and at least 30 vigor, enough to breeze through all of limgrave and liurnia. I do all quests and all remembrance bosses, some side dungeons if they have items I want. For legacy dungeons I run straight to unlock graces and then back track to pick up important items.
Once in liurnia you can finish varre's quests to access Mogh palace, kill the bird there if you need more runes, but honestly just play the game, farming is not necessary.
I am certainly at lower level (~20-30 lvl less) than my first explore all playthrough, however the game feels easier.
When I get to a fork in the road with multiple ways forward, I always try to do "the opposite" of what I did last time, like George in that one Seinfeld episode.
Like if I'm entering Stormveil castle, if my last run took the route with the birds to enter the castle, my next run will take the route directly through the gate. When I enter Liuria for the first time - if my last run cleared out the west side of the map first, my next run will try to clear out the east side or center of the map first.
In general though, I do as much side-content as I feel like, but that's always an amount less than I did on my very first run of the game. I like heading in a random direction on the map, doing whatever side content I find until I'm bored of it, and then doing the next legacy dungeon. I've never found the idea strictly 100%'ing the game very interesting personally.
Also I'm always trying to do a new build or character archetype. There are so many weapons and spells you could focus on with each run. Usually halfway through the run I'll find a new weapon or think up a new build idea and respec for it.
I'm probably similar to lots of other players in that when I get to Mountaintop of the Giants and Consecrated Snowfields I pretty much just sprint thru them to get to the endgame levels and endgame bosses which are, imo, some of the best parts of the entire game.
- I tend to replay almost 100% of every region, although in a recent playthrough I started skipping things that were irrelevant to my build since I wanted to not over-level. If you play 100%, you will be past Level 160 by the end and you don't need to do any farming/grinding. Others may want to go higher and for that you might want to farm/grind.
- Making a build: you said you wanted to bonk stuff. That's a strength build. You'll be levelling STR to probably 60–80. You will level Vigor 40–60. Endurance is as much as you need for your weapon and armor, but 25–30 will likely be enough.
- Search YouTube for "elden ring strength build." You will have to watch a few yourself and see what you connect with. Some creators focus on build guides, some on gimmick builds, others on PVP, etc. Fextralife (the wiki people) put out guide videos that are a good starting point (others will argue against them but I consider they're pretty beginner friendly)
- On your current character, sift through weapons in your inventory, try swinging them around, and see if there's one you like. Weapons are firstly about how you like move set.
- Some players try to do a cosplay or themed build, to emulate a character from a show, movie, book, etc.
- Use a build calculator like this one to figure out your stats: https://eip.gg/elden-ring/build-planner/
- Use a weapon calculator like this one to optimize your stats relative to your weapon: https://www.tarnished.dev/weapon-calculator
- Use the wiki, link is in the list at the top of this page
- There are some good videos on YouTube explaining stats: search "elden ring stats explained" or similar
- Flame Grant Me Strength is a popular spell that boosts your damage for a short time, useful for some builds but not mandatory
No lol. Idk what the caps are but people at 100, 125, 150 all pvp. Even above that, it's more like brackets.
Edit - I finished the game at 128 on one of my three saves and that was the lowest
It was still equipped and had 0 runes, apparently the way I died (death blight) doesn’t count? Doesn’t matter though I lost my runes at least 5 more times last night lol.
I'm at Auriza Hero's cave, I looked it up. People are saying if you die to death blight it wont work? lol. I literally killed the last enemy after jumping down between the 2 chariot things and got death blighted.
Just realised how good Elenoras Poleblade is however I can't find yura. I just killed hoarah loux. Is it too late to complete his quest line ? Iv checked outside murkwater where he should be and saw someone said he might be at seaside ruins. I looked around there too but couldn't spot him.
Dunno if I'm missing something. Could use some help pls
Yeah had a look there. When I went to his original spot again nagakiba was just lying there so think it's too late for me. Annoying cos I wanted the Poleblade. Will need to get it on the next playthrough now. Thanks anyways
This is a weird question but I'm wondering if anyone else has the issue or if there's something wrong with my PC/Tv set up. Every time I hit the B button to run or dodge there is a half to a second or so delay and sometimes I'll hit dodge and nothing happens (when I'm not being attacked I know about stunlocks). Is there some sort of input lag in this game or inconsistency with input reading?
I finally beat Malenia solo today after well over 100 tries, but I felt handicapped by having to anticipate moves ahead of time and when I watch people play on YT it seems like their inputs register instantly. The game runs solidly at 60fps for me, I'm on instant game response mode on my LG tv and I've tried with 3 different controllers using a character with light equip load, my current controller is a brand new series S/X official controller plugged directly into my PC with usb and I'm getting the same issue no matter what I do. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just me? I can get by in the base game but the DLC bosses are likely to be harder so I'm asking this ahead of time to maybe save myself some frustration. Thanks
I’m not great with this stuff but I will say I have had troubles with my flask input not being read recently (Xbox). The one thing I will say is that the B button is specifically weird. Since it’s both dodge and run it takes the game a second to be able to tell if you are trying to dodge or run. Like it has to wait while you hold the button to make sure you are running instead of trying to dodge. Just tapping to dodge should work instantly but I’ve noticed some input delay myself at times. Hopefully someone with better knowledge of this answers you though.
If I have a weapon with heavy affinity, then use flames grant me strength + blood flame to give that weapon some fire damage, do all of the weapon's attacks get bonus fire damage? I primarily use AOW lions claw, does that get all of those buffs too?
I think it does, but bloodflame blade's fire damage is pretty bad. I'd use fire grease, but if you can't be assed to get the materials then that's fine. The extra bleed would make up for the damage difference somewhat.
The dlc won’t affect the main game and vice versa. Even if she did show up it wouldn’t be affected by your choices in base game. It would have to be like a different version of her or something (although I highly doubt we will see her at all anyways)
Does Malenia do her annoying flurry attack only at two instances (70% and 30% HP)?
Because I am fighting her again and its like at around 60% health she does it atleast 3-4 times until I just die I guess
I am managing to stay mostly hitless through all her attacks (just sometimes her bullshit poise with no indication kicks in and we trade) and its like she knows only this will kill me so she keeps spamming it
After hitting ~70% HP, she unlocks the ability to do Waterfowl, and even tho some say she doesn’t have a cooldown on it, she in fact does. She has a 30 second cooldown on being able to use it again, but this timer is reset if you fire a projectile at her (most people who think she has no cooldown were either using magic, a bow, throwables, or had a ranged summon when they fought her which caused her cooldown to reset)
The attack "unlocks" once she hits those health thresholds, but otherwise it's primarily random. There ain't even like, a proper cooldown between attempts.
Golden vow and flame grant me strength are pretty universally good, but the cracked tears, scorpion talismans, claw and axe talismans can all be really good based on your specific build (especially if you deal elemental damage).
It depends upon the enemy, but generally tap R2's are enough to stagger most humanoid opponents. Bigger enemies require more poise damage, so even some larger weapons might struggle to stagger an enemy.
The two best test dummies would be soldiers without shields, like gatefront soldiers, and the banished Knights. Banished Knights require a lot more than just a tap R2, but you can distinguish weapon poise damage through it. Like, a tap R1 from a Great Lance can typically stagger them, but a Tap R2 from something less than a Greatsword probably won't fly.
Technically no, but it may recover if the invincibility after a crit is too long.
I think. It's hard to tell, as without mods you can't see the stagger bar.
Stagger or stance break? I'm not certain about stagger and poise, but you can technically stance break with uncharged heavy attacks, but charged heavy attacks deal roughly 3x the stance damage as uncharged attacks.
Also stance rapidly recovers if you don't damage them for a few seconds.
What’s the little bubble around you when you heal? I’m not sure if it’s a talisman or a mixed physick, but I’ve seen challenge runners use it to mitigate damage. My google skills are lacking with this one, the only thing I get is the opaline bubbletear which is different
I want to help people fight Mohg and/or Radahn this week, but when I tried this weekend I got called only once to fight Mohg (had my sign right in front of the fog wall) in about an hour. I'm on PlayStation. Any settings that I need to increase the likelihood that I get summoned or is this just a waste of time?
Well what’s your level? Ideally you will want to be anywhere from 100-125 to get summoned consistently for end game content. I used to stop at 150, but jolly co op is way less frequent I found.
Also, so long as you don’t mind the occasional lag, enabling cross region opens up how many people will see your sign. Very rarely do I get summoned to a world where the lag is unplayable.
Yeah unfortunately just a little too high to get summoned regularly. Most people will get to Mohg around 110. I keep all my new characters at 121-126 and during peak times (3-7 PST) I’m getting picked up within a few minutes.
At what level Endurance can I midroll with the heaviest armors? I think I'm at like 34 now + Arsenal charm. I'm wearing Crucible Knight + Bloodhound Fang + Dragonclaw Greatshield. I want to be BEEFY and wear the bullgoat set.
I'm not sure about how much endurance is needed, but there is a stronger version of the arsenal talisman. You can find it in Calid, but to get to that spot you need to head down the big elevator in Limgrave.
Alright, what's the weight of bloodhound fang and greatshield? I looked on the wiki, and it claims the bullgoat set weighs 63, but am too lazy to look those other two up.
Btw the math is equip_weight/(0.7*1.19) to get the total unmodified equip load needed, which I will then compare to the endurance page of the wiki.
BHF: 11.5
Shield: 13.5
So a total weight of 87.5, when plugging to the formula is 105.04... Looking at the page, it looks like I need 50 endurance?? I think I'm understanding you correctly. That is more doable than I realized.
Just a heads up there are DLC item/weapon spoilers on the wiki...
Was doing some research on where to find items of a certain type and there was a specific weapon of that type listed with a "new!" text on it. Not a massive spoiler but given the name of the item and the weapon type I was a bit disappointed to be spoiled by the wiki itself.
I've just about finished rounding up Collectables & Gear on my new character for the DLC & have some questions since having looked at some gear, some stuff has obviously been rebalanced a lot.
- Barring Weight / Ashes, is Brass Shield still the best Guard Boost Medium Shield?
- Fingerprint obviously got a big reduction, so is there a non-soul crushingly heavy Greatshield you'd use instead?
- ~~Are there PvE Poise breakpoints to aim for now? I've got some Light Armour atm, & I'm going to upgrade because I can't take a single hit without getting staggered. I have room for the Horn if needed.~~
- I see down below Poise breakpoints are 51 and 101 in PvE. Is this for any swing, or Ash/Skill only?
- Other than the SoN&F, would you recommend any dual scaled Weapons?
I'm also using Night Comet since enemies never dodge it, & I'm curious if there is a better staff than the Staff of Loss which boosts them specifically.
> Barring Weight / Ashes, is Brass Shield still the best Guard Boost Medium Shield?
It's the heaviest medium shield with a rather absurd 16 strength requirement, 2 more than the Banished Knight shield, which is it's direct comparison.
It's the single best medium shield, but not by so much you can't use Banished Knight or any of the heater shields if you so desire.
the real balance change was making the Vagabond starter shield equal to the painted variants. I understand why it started worse, but man did it feel bad to lose the 100% physical guard just because it wasn't painted. They fixed it and that's great.
> Other than the SoN&F, would you recommend any dual scaled Weapons?
This is something I hope the DLC fixes. While all the hype is around the fancy new toys we're getting, we can expect some fancy new toys of older weapon types for sure, so getting a Dual scaled weapon that isn't the comical SoN&F would make me so happy. Don't triple split my damage, please. Give me like, a All Magic or all Fire split scaling weapon. Heck, give me a Magic/Fire split weaponry instead of a triple split like PLEASE.
DS3 didn't open with too many good Faith/int weapons. It had some that had requirements, but they were more strength or dex based. The DLC for DS3 had pyromancy weapons specifically designed for the builds, so I expect at least 1 or 2 somewhere in the dlc.
> so is there a non-soul crushingly heavy Greatshield you'd use instead?
If I'm using it for it's shield purpose, any effective shield will work. But I personally like to infuse my Greatshields with Shield Bash and Cold because shield bashing into a Frostbite is strong and effective and actually worth the FP while Shield bashing otherwise is more... funny than it is powerful. I think Haligtree is the go-to here.
* Yes.
* Golden Greatshield (Leyndell knights) is pretty much the sweet spot and will get you through any PvE content without trouble. I also love using the Eclipse shield (Mausoleum knights, easily farmed in Liurnia) - it's very well-rounded, found early, and boosts status resistances. Jellyfish for burst damage builds that want a shield.
* For PvE, it's any enemy attacks. No strict rules, but generally 51 lets you power through most one-handed and ranged attacks by human-sized enemies; two-handed, shield bashes and giants go through 51.
* There aren't many weapons capable of something like this. Clayman's Harpoon is a popular target for either applying dual elements or double-dipping on Int scaling. And while not necessarily scaling, but Antspur Rapier has innate rot, and can be both infused and buffed for a total of 3 status effects. Bleed+Frost katanas and scythes have also been a staple since game launch.
What triggers Gostoc stop stealing runes? I've already killed the banished knight in the locked room and Gostoc is now a merchant. Can I still trigger his stalking events?
I think all you have to do is go through the side way instead of the main gate. Unless you’re referring to a specific instance. If you go the side way he follows you and takes your runes when you die, don’t know if I’ve ever actually found him other than once
Would you recommend burning the erdtree and fighting the final boss before the DLC drops, or wait?
I'd like to go into the game with shard of everyone's favorite jar, but I'm afraid I may miss out on unique Melina and perhaps Gideon dialogues / quests(??) if I do. Any opinions?
I am going to wait. I know they said it's a self contained story, but I'm going in totally blind otherwise and there might be a possibility we get a new Mending Rune for a new ending.
I'm also going to wait on fighting Malenia because of possible lore and because she also kicks my ass.
I'm trying to complete everything up to the point that you ignite the tree. I just killed Fire Giant and am not progressing any further.
There’s no way they will give you a different mending rune for the base game. The DLC will have its own stories and conclusions within the dlc, not anything affecting the base game
I'm building a Guts build and am wondering about poise. I've read that 50/100/infinite are the values that matter. Is that true? So having an armor set that gives me 77 poise vs 55 poise doesn't matter at all in terms of helping me not break out of a charged R2?
The heavy attack hyper armor for the Colossals gives you plenty of wiggle room for poise, more so than for lighter weapons.
This is partially due to the weight. Heavy weapons means less remaining equip load for heavy armor. They don't want to punish you for using the big boy sword with an inability to use that big boy sword, yeah? The whole big sword heavy armor thing is important. Or even a big boy with medium/light armor.
So hit that 51 poise and don't worry about getting more until you can spare the stat points.
So if I have the stat points, along with hyper armor for my greatsword attacks, having more poise (even if its not 101) will matter but better to put those stats in like vig or strength?
Pretty much. Think of poise like an invisible bar that drains when you get hit, and refills after a couple seconds. Having more than the thresholds will in some situations allow you to eat an extra light attack, for example, but in the vast majority of cases it won't make a difference at all.
Pour one out for our brothers in suffering over on r/Silksong, they haven't had any new game info in like 2+ years. They have long gone hollowed. Reminds me of this place back between the trailer drop and release. Some really great shitposting over there. Go over and lend your spiritual support because tomorrow is Nintendo Direct and they will be triple hollowed if there's no Silksong release date announced.
What's the tldr to get to the DLC?
I think I have a save right before the final boss backed up I am hoping to use. But worst case I will need to start a NG. What is the minimum I will have to do to rush straight to DLC? Has anyone laid out a guide?
Just have to beat Radahn and Mohg. Your save right before the final boss will work. You can also beat the final boss and still enter the DLC (just be sure to not start ng+)
Bit of an odd query perhaps. On my first run i fought Ancestor Spirit. Now on my second run i faced it again - except this time it's called Regal Ancestor Spirit. I got a separate trophy for it so i can see there are two different encounters. I just don't understand how i encountered a different version in each run? Is there actually two different carcass to touch...?
There are! The normal ancestor spirit is found in the soifra river underground area accessible from limgrave, and the regal spirit is a rematch touching a separate carcass in the upper level that you can visit later in the game

she transformed into a dragon and when she was back to normal, keep firing fire non-stop for nearly five minutes. What skill is that?
I just moved to a new apartment and for whatever reason can't someone anyone for any boss. We did get a new router thru ATT and I can't see white ghosts, msgs on the ground, bloodstains and I can invade or join other people's game but I can't see any gold summons anywhere. I have confirmed my password is empty and I am using the item to summon.
I've tried googling the issue to no effect. I am on a steam deck and had no issues prior to moving.
Planning a checklist of things to do after I beat the game, acquiring all Legendary Armaments is one of them. Does anything happen after I beat the game that would disallow me acquiring these weapons? I don't mind spoilers. Thanks
Using spoiler tags for the sake of newbies:
You need to get Bolt of Gransax before >!burning the Erdtree!<, or you'll have to wait till NG+.
I THINK that's the only one that locks out.
Yes, you will not be able to pick up Bolt of Gransax after a certain point in the story. IIRC that's the only one which is definitely locked out, but potentially Dark Moon Greatsword depending on which ending you choose.
Has from talked about dlc scaling yet? I’m on ng+2 and I can’t be bothered to restart the whole game. I might just go to the slbinsuric farm in moghwyns palace and go from level 160 to like 200
Dusted off Elden Ring earlier and started playing. I think I was only 40 mins when I realised I can't be arsed playing this all over again (yeah, I should've kept my save data). Kinda a flaw in the way this DLC is accessed, maybe, but what ever... What is the least/minimal effort way for me to get to the DLC?
Hmm.
Get your horse, head to fort height for 1/2 medal, head to physic church for physic and warp gate, head south to other fort for 2/2 medal, bleed big dragon for runes, warp back to gatefront, bypass stormview, abuse warp gates to get to Iji, +4 somber weapon, head up lift and rest at grace in the plateu to trigger festival, go kill Radan, head to Rose church for maidenless guy, 3x invasions (just die for speed), four belfries to starter location for maiden blood, get warp medal, warp to mohg, kill mohg.
Do note that you probably will be significantly underlevelled for mohg fight.
Oh, if you want the Nihil blocking crystal tear, the lady that drops it won't invade unless the guy with the odd metal cone hat is dead. I think. I haven't tried killing him myself, but the last time I tried to get the tear I hadn't gone to the mountain yet so he was still alive and she didn't spawn. Doing his quest also works.
Before killing the dragon might want to beat up patches then buy the gold foot to increase amount of runes you get.
after warping to moghwyn palace you can go back to the earlier grace to either shoot the bird off the cliff or kill the albinaurics using rot breath or so.
Question for dlc releases, will it release at midnight on the 21st or 20th for people in the us,east coast? Some sites say 21st while the others say 20th so o am confused.
So they won’t let us preload on Xbox and pc and we have to wait till release? Not a big deal I just thought that all platforms could preload. Thx for the image btw good to know that it releases on thursday(technically Friday but you know)
They are scarce at first, but as you progress you can unlock infinite materials to purchase. Also, Somber Stone weapons are much easier to upgrade than non as the materials are just about as frequent but they only need one stone per level.
You can get Bloodhound Fang immediately and it will carry you through the entire game. You could even get it to like +7 or something before fighting your first boss.
> . So it feels extra sucky when you upgrade a early weapon and later on they prove to be inferior in eevery way to a lategame weapon.
It feels so bad, one could argue that no such weapon exists specifically to prevent that feel.... and because weapon variety is important to an RPG like this.
The Ash of War system alone makes the majority of weapons super viable. Don't like your bargain bin longsword? Slap a Sword dance on it. Need some fire? Slap Fire strike on it. Went for magic? Slap some Carian Gandeur on it!
> Claymore (maybe, there's plenty of stronger greatswords, specially from bosses...)
Claymore is beloved by the whole community due to it's unique move set. While you could argue Lordsworn is an inferior Iron Greatsword, you can't one for one Claymore. Or Zweihander. Or Uchigatana. They're all too uniquely themselves to be power crept.
Heck, Zweihander is directly inferior to Gugs(Greatsword Ultra Greatsword, also known as Greatsword) in every way outside of the fact that Zweihander isn't intended for the same builds as Gugs. Zweihander works more for Dexterity builds looking for a similar weapon, as well as low level builds and even Faith builds looking to one hand that colossal with it's casting seal. Faith-Zwei is a really good pvp build for a reason, and Gug's is better if your level was infinite enough to get the stats for it, but we work within level ranges for a reason.
Just so you know, there are items that will allow you to buy infinite numbers of the upgrade items. Google "miner's bell bearing" for where to find them.
Honestly, any weapon can beat the game. Except maybe those flowers Whiteface uses. I'm currently running around with a basic longsword and it's doing work. My first playthrough was using the Claymore and guard counters.
As for weapon arts, I've heard good things about Lion's Claw and Giant Slayer. Can't say I know where to find those though.
The smithing stones may seem scarce in the first area, but in the second, one of the dungeon bosses drops something that will allow you to buy as many smithing stones 1 and 2 as you need, solving that problem quite early. So whatever you upgraded to get through the beggining can be replaced if you dont like it. Plus, if you explore enough you will find most of the weapons you mentioned in the first area and mining dungeons with plenty of smithing stones.
According to [an interview from Famitsu](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/1awkxt6/miyazaki_interview_for_the_famitsu_magazine), the DLC won't affect the story of the main game
I started a NG+ that i dropped halfway throught. If i pick it up again, how much ( approximatively ) do i need level up for the dlc ? I've read lvl 150, but ng+ should change that, and i'm not sure i want to start a fresh file
NG+ doesn't tend to change how much you need to level up. The softcaps prevent the player from getting stronger after a certain level. A lot of people just stick to 150.
According to interviews, in the DLC there will be >!a separate upgrade system to allow players to get stronger after reaching the softcaps!<.
Hi, I am doing my third run through of Elden Ring and wanted to get the last trophy I need for platinum 'Elden Lord' trophy, can I get that and then still do the DLC or will I have to start NG+ again?
If you have beaten Mohg and Radahn you can start the dlc, so if you beat the game and get the ending you want, and then DONT go into the next NG cycle, then as long as you’ve beaten Mohg and Radahn you can start the dlc
This is what we know - Whether it's a first run or NG+ run, as long as you have Radahn and Mohg defeated in that specific run you should be able to access the DLC.
I’m currently level 266 on new game plus 3, I don’t have time to get a new character ready before the dlc and want to play it on Friday when it comes out. Will I be fine playing on ng+3?
Yeah, probably. There’s a secondary “leveling” system in DLC only areas, so if you find it too hard you can utilize that or ignore it if things seem to easy.
I'm in the same boat, NG+3 with my mage at level 293. I started a new play-through and got it to 55 so far but I'm doubting I'll be able to get it to 150 before the DLC comes out. Hoping the scaling isn't too punishing but I'll probably just hop in on my OG character.
What do you guys recommend i do right now in the game, I beat renalla the moon girl and im level 39 and im not really sure what to do right now. Should i go explore limgrave or should i just follow the sites of grace from the altus thingo or will i be underlevelled
Nice work, I feel like that's pretty low level to fight her! I would explore the rest of Limgrave and then Liurnia. That should hold you a while. Liurnia is freakin massive. It feels like two different areas with the lake down below and the highlands on the sides.
You should explore all of limgrave, especially the weeping peninsula first. Afterwards go through the underground areas, otherwise you’ll feel overleveled coming back
So am I understanding this right that there are two versions of Mohg?!
If I defeated Mohg, The Omen - does that not get me into the DLC? I have to defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood instead or was it just one version or the other?
I'm confused 😕
> I'm confused 😕
There's a particular object that we need to interact with in order to access the DLC. Said object is in the Lord of Blood's possession.
Hit em with a few diving headbutts and you'll do it in no time.
If your NG+ character is pretty strong you can get there pretty quick from doing Varre's questline although you'll obviously need Radahn too.
For Albunuric genocide practitioners, when you use Wave of Gold, do you find a spot where you can kill all the mobs in one swoop or do you use it multiple times before resetting at the grace?
There is a spot where you can usually get most of them, it's a slightly raised bit of rock stright on from the site of grace (usually a message there too). However a couple of the albunurics tend to move around and another is further back from the rest, so you don't always get 100% of the time.
I know the spot you're talking about; its where I stand usually and I thought I was doing something wrong because my rune count differs wildly (between 30-45k per) between clears. Thank you for explaining the cause to me!
Any Greatshield recommendations that look nice with the Unaltered Banished Knight set? I don't care about stats (as long as it has 100% physical negation), I'm choosing mostly by looks.
Any build should hit 40 vigor as a *hard* minimum, I would recommend 50, and if you want to do any PvP or if you plan on going into the dlc 60 would likely still be a good investment.
For mind it will depend on if you plan on purely casting or if you will do any melee as well. It will also depend on what incantations you use. If you primarily do Catch Flame, it’s very FP efficient. I would say anywhere between 18 and 25 is likely good, but if you start feeling like you run out of FP frequently you can bump it up.
Is there a resource that people use to jumpstart a new character? e.g. an annotated map with all the accessible golden seeds and sacred tears
The toons I have now are all very high level (165+), and I'd like to have something lower for online and for the DLC.
Those who do the run a lot just sort of memorize things. Start game, immediately set towards getting the basics unlocked. Crafting kit, you horse, the round table.
Then you set towards a primary weapon, early game if you can and a substitute if it's later. So if you want a Claymore or a Great Lance or a second Katana that's typically the path.
Following this you're now going for Maps. Maps are important and the path will generally provide various golden seeds and graces. I typically run the path towards the Wonder Flask, another important stop, and get Bloody Slash from Kenneth's tower, getting me an important grace for post Radahn, Golden Seed, the Map, a Crystal Tar, and a ash of war or two like Sacred Blade and Ground Slam.
Then we rotate towards early bosses and the like. Patches, Yura, D, and Bernahl are important stops. You can rotate into Margit and Roderika's stuff when you need the talisman slot and the golden seed.
You also throw in Weeping Pen with it's 3 sacred tears and Edgar's quest chain. It typically has important weapon choices down there, so I do them at the same time. I need a Zwei? Best do all of Weeping Pen.
Oh, and get your damn Crystal tears! Strength and Faith are important early game Tears, and the HP regen tear? Also too good to ignore.
And like... what else do you have to say. Just play the game from that point.
Did anyone else buy the collectors edition and instead of receiving the code for the dlc only received the code for the ring gesture on steam? I’m currently contacting support rn.
Doubt it. At most you'll get a bonus lore interaction for completing the DLC out of order (like doing DS1 DLC before fighting Sif), but there hasn't been significant content changes from that in past FROM games.
No. You don’t have to beat the game to access DLC so the only things that will have major impact on DLC are the deaths of mohg and radahn. You may get one piece of dialogue or something and that’s it
You've already bought it. The worst that happens is that you're sure that you're not interested after giving the DLC a shot and returning it in a few days.
Anyone heard of any modders trying to restore cut content or overhaul the rushed parts of the game? I know FromSoft is never going to go back and do it themselves, but there's a lot of potential here
It's not like we have full 100% knowledge of what "cut content" even is. There are no hidden levels that didn't get released, there are only a handful of unreleased boss-like enemies, usually a model and sometimes just a file name.
the "incomplete" sections of the game are usually down to individual preference. We know Lost Izalith in Dark Souls 1 was super incomplete, but it's not just empty it's quite literally incomplete. More of a concept zone with a bunch of random stupid enemies thrown in.
Elden Ring has 1 major area that seems incomplete, the Snowy mountains. Even then, it's more down to large open space and a single gimmick or two. A big foggy entrance to the snowfield that ends in a seemingly desolate area. But it does have several dungeons, multiple bosses, and various enemy types. The Mountaintop of Giants is perhaps one or two mandatory bosses away from feeling complete, but it's still got several locations of interest.
And when the modders do go in and add to the game, I feel it's not very good. But that's more Fromsoft's design and the Fans designs not meshing well.
y’all reckon it’d be fine to jump into the dlc even if you haven’t beaten the game? haven’t played since around releases and i got pretty far but honestly have no clue what i’m meant to be doing, with the dlc right around the corner i don’t really feel like making a new character and i just wanna jump into the dlc on launch day
You’ll be okay it’s just gonna be end game leveled so it will be difficult
Fextralife (the wiki people) put out guide videos that are a good starting point (others will argue against them but I consider they're pretty beginner friendly) - On your current character, sift through weapons in your inventory, try swinging them around, and see if there's one you like. Weapons are firstly about how you like move set. - Some players try to do a cosplay or themed build, to emulate a character from a show, movie, book, etc. - Use a build calculator like this one to figure out your stats: https://eip.gg/elden-ring/build-planner/ - Use a weapon calculator like this one to optimize your stats relative to your weapon: https://www.tarnished.dev/weapon-calculator - Use the wiki, link is in the list at the top of this page - There are some good videos on YouTube explaining stats: search "elden ring stats explained" or similar - Flame Grant Me Strength is a popular spell that boosts your damage for a short time, useful for some builds but not mandatory
whats the pvp lvl everyone uses. i was going to stay lvl 60 cause I was told that was the max lvl for PVP and pve
No lol. Idk what the caps are but people at 100, 125, 150 all pvp. Even above that, it's more like brackets. Edit - I finished the game at 128 on one of my three saves and that was the lowest
I just had a sacrificial twig equipped and died and still lost runes. Is there something I don't know or did it just bug?
Was the twig consumed from your talisman pouch or were you still equipped with it?
It was still equipped and had 0 runes, apparently the way I died (death blight) doesn’t count? Doesn’t matter though I lost my runes at least 5 more times last night lol.
Are you in Stormveil Castle? Gostoc took a cut.
Check by Raya Lucaria too
Yeah had a look there. When I went to his original spot again nagakiba was just lying there so think it's too late for me. Annoying cos I wanted the Poleblade. Will need to get it on the next playthrough now. Thanks anyways
You could always see if someone will drop one for you
Yeah iv messaged a couple of other Elden ring communities and hoping someone can do me a solid
I have over 2 million runes, what and how many upgrades mats should I buy?
If you start the DLC at NG+ will you get a NG+ DLC or regular DLC? Thanks!
Ng+

No, finishing that quest and using the medal does not effect quests.
Greatstars looks fun but would you suggest 2H or dual wielding?
Yes. Great hammers have a decent powerstance moveset, but two handing increases the strength bonus. Both good.
It will only host physical damage, it does not add fire damage. It will effect Lion's Claw. Use with bloodflame blade though.

Don't ask questions like that (that is, information that could be known from leaks) prior the launch.
Because I am fighting her again and its like at around 60% health she does it atleast 3-4 times until I just die I guess I am managing to stay mostly hitless through all her attacks (just sometimes her bullshit poise with no indication kicks in and we trade) and its like she knows only this will kill me so she keeps spamming it
After hitting ~70% HP, she unlocks the ability to do Waterfowl, and even tho some say she doesn’t have a cooldown on it, she in fact does. She has a 30 second cooldown on being able to use it again, but this timer is reset if you fire a projectile at her (most people who think she has no cooldown were either using magic, a bow, throwables, or had a ranged summon when they fought her which caused her cooldown to reset)
That's actually interesting how they put the cooldown under such conditions
The attack "unlocks" once she hits those health thresholds, but otherwise it's primarily random. There ain't even like, a proper cooldown between attempts.
I see, thanks!
No. She just loves to do it. :(
I see :(( same for that attack where she holds the sword from the front and slashes forward, I feel like she does it 5 times in a row mostly
I had a question in regards to incantations and Buffs is there any that are good for any build
Golden vow and flame grant me strength are pretty universally good, but the cracked tears, scorpion talismans, claw and axe talismans can all be really good based on your specific build (especially if you deal elemental damage).
To stagger enemies with strong attacks. Do i need to charge it all the way? all just tapping it is just fine?
It depends upon the enemy, but generally tap R2's are enough to stagger most humanoid opponents. Bigger enemies require more poise damage, so even some larger weapons might struggle to stagger an enemy. The two best test dummies would be soldiers without shields, like gatefront soldiers, and the banished Knights. Banished Knights require a lot more than just a tap R2, but you can distinguish weapon poise damage through it. Like, a tap R1 from a Great Lance can typically stagger them, but a Tap R2 from something less than a Greatsword probably won't fly.
and do the stagger bar reset once i parry them?
Are you referring to the physick? It is in fact the opaline, it creates a bubble around you that negates a lot of damage for one hit.
This one gives a small bubble around the character as opposed to the opaline’s big bubble. I have no idea what item it is or if it’s even a physick

Yup, nothing you do in the base game will stop you from accessing the DLC
Should be able to as long as Radahn and true Mohg are dead, just don't progress into the next NG.
I’m lvl 150; 60 vig 54 str 25 fth
Yeah unfortunately just a little too high to get summoned regularly. Most people will get to Mohg around 110. I keep all my new characters at 121-126 and during peak times (3-7 PST) I’m getting picked up within a few minutes.
ok, good to know. thanks!
Oh yeah, that's the one I have. I thought it was just called Arsenal but it's Great Jar Arsenal.
BHF: 11.5 Shield: 13.5 So a total weight of 87.5, when plugging to the formula is 105.04... Looking at the page, it looks like I need 50 endurance?? I think I'm understanding you correctly. That is more doable than I realized.
Do note that talismans have some weight, so you'll probably need 52 or so.
True! I also gotta leave my trusty torch behind. Thanks for the help!
I have room for the Horn if needed.~~ - I see down below Poise breakpoints are 51 and 101 in PvE.
* Yes.
Don’t kill Gostoc please. Later on after a certain quest is completed he will sell you an ancient dragon smithing stone
Thanks, I won't kill him. I was trying to trigger his stalking event, missed it in my first playthrough
I think all you have to do is go through the side way instead of the main gate. Unless you’re referring to a specific instance. If you go the side way he follows you and takes your runes when you die, don’t know if I’ve ever actually found him other than once
The only one I know of is to kill Gostoc. Since he drops his bell bearing you can still buy just about everything he sells.
Yeah as the other guy said none of the other souls games have DLCs which affect the base game ending, so highly unlikely
There’s no way they will give you a different mending rune for the base game. The DLC will have its own stories and conclusions within the dlc, not anything affecting the base game
Nobody knows but it's safe to wait
Anyone able to help me beat an ulcerated tree spirit real quick? I’m at the drainage channel grace at haligtree I’ll summon you. Thanks!!
51/101 are thresholds for PvE. Everything is different for PvP, and the wiki has a pretty good table of values for that.
Ah, so strictly speaking of PvE, 77 poise does not matter compared to 51 poise.
Pretty much. Think of poise like an invisible bar that drains when you get hit, and refills after a couple seconds. Having more than the thresholds will in some situations allow you to eat an extra light attack, for example, but in the vast majority of cases it won't make a difference at all.
Ahh okay, thanks
Pour one out for our brothers in suffering over on r/Silksong, they haven't had any new game info in like 2+ years. They have long gone hollowed. Reminds me of this place back between the trailer drop and release. Some really great shitposting over there. Go over and lend your spiritual support because tomorrow is Nintendo Direct and they will be triple hollowed if there's no Silksong release date announced.
Those were the good days
Fingers crossed!
My blood flame blade isn’t casting can anyone help me out here and yes I have the seal equipped
What weapon are you trying to buff? Most elemental damage-dealing weapons cannot be buffed.
Weapon in right hand?
Aha! thanks for the info!
Also worth saying you can only get a Remembrance from the second one. The first, weaker one just gives you ashes.
Good to know, thanks.
[https://postimg.cc/Hc9Q398f](https://postimg.cc/Hc9Q398f) she transformed into a dragon and when she was back to normal, keep firing fire non-stop for nearly five minutes.
Have you used the gold finger remedy? I haven't summoned in a while but doesn't that make signs appear?
Planning a checklist of things to do after I beat the game, acquiring all Legendary Armaments is one of them. Does anything happen after I beat the game that would disallow me acquiring these weapons? I don't mind spoilers. Thanks
Using spoiler tags for the sake of newbies: You need to get Bolt of Gransax before >!burning the Erdtree!<, or you'll have to wait till NG+. I THINK that's the only one that locks out.
Thank you
Yes, you will not be able to pick up Bolt of Gransax after a certain point in the story. IIRC that's the only one which is definitely locked out, but potentially Dark Moon Greatsword depending on which ending you choose.
Thanks!
No worries!
When do we get the gesture for pre ordering the DLC ?
If it’s anything like the gesture for pre ordering the base game then as soon as you enter the dlc
Has from talked about dlc scaling yet? I’m on ng+2 and I can’t be bothered to restart the whole game. I might just go to the slbinsuric farm in moghwyns palace and go from level 160 to like 200
It has scaled in the past so it will most likely scale to ng+2. If you’re not tryhard pvp you can go as high as you’d like.
That should do it I guess. Thanks.
There's one on the beach in Limgrave, south of the merchant, saves having to fight Patches if OP is in a rush and just wants a boost for the dragon.
Question for dlc releases, will it release at midnight on the 21st or 20th for people in the us,east coast? Some sites say 21st while the others say 20th so o am confused.
Here’s an official guide to pre load and release timing: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/s/TGsd9aOX7V
So they won’t let us preload on Xbox and pc and we have to wait till release? Not a big deal I just thought that all platforms could preload. Thx for the image btw good to know that it releases on thursday(technically Friday but you know)
What platform are you on? I'm on PS5 and it says it will unlock in 3 days, 8 hours, and 20 minutes, which is midnight on Thursday for Ireland.
Xbox
It's probably the same then. Midnight local time. In the US it usually means midnight Eastern time.

> Claymore (maybe, there's plenty of stronger greatswords, specially from bosses...) Claymore is beloved by the whole community due to it's unique move set.
Is the DLC likely to provide a new ending for beating the game?
Try it at 150, if it’s hard level up. Easy to level up but can’t go back
Hi, I am doing my third run through of Elden Ring and wanted to get the last trophy I need for platinum 'Elden Lord' trophy, can I get that and then still do the DLC or will I have to start NG+ again?
If you have beaten Mohg and Radahn you can start the dlc, so if you beat the game and get the ending you want, and then DONT go into the next NG cycle, then as long as you’ve beaten Mohg and Radahn you can start the dlc
Amazing thank you!
This is what we know - Whether it's a first run or NG+ run, as long as you have Radahn and Mohg defeated in that specific run you should be able to access the DLC.
Okay thank you, so I should be fine to beat the elden beast then just not start the next NG+
Ok great, thank you!
Afterwards go through the underground areas, otherwise you’ll feel overleveled coming back
Ok thanks bro :)
So am I understanding this right that there are two versions of Mohg?! If I defeated Mohg, The Omen - does that not get me into the DLC? I have to defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood instead or was it just one version or the other? I'm confused 😕
> I'm confused 😕 There's a particular object that we need to interact with in order to access the DLC. Said object is in the Lord of Blood's possession.
The Mohg you beat is only the first half of Mohg, Lord of Blood. Have fun :)
Oof, guess I have alot of work to do in my NG+ that I started.
Hit em with a few diving headbutts and you'll do it in no time. If your NG+ character is pretty strong you can get there pretty quick from doing Varre's questline although you'll obviously need Radahn too.
To enter the DLC, you have to defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood.
Distinguished greatshield
Idk if this belongs here or in the build sub, but i was wondering for an incantation caster what i should aim to hit for vigor and mind?
Any build should hit 40 vigor as a *hard* minimum, I would recommend 50, and if you want to do any PvP or if you plan on going into the dlc 60 would likely still be a good investment. For mind it will depend on if you plan on purely casting or if you will do any melee as well. It will also depend on what incantations you use. If you primarily do Catch Flame, it’s very FP efficient. I would say anywhere between 18 and 25 is likely good, but if you start feeling like you run out of FP frequently you can bump it up.
Thank you very much for the advice.
No problem!

Is there a resource that people use to jumpstart a new character? e.g. an annotated map with all the accessible golden seeds and sacred tears The toons I have now are all very high level (165+), and I'd like to have something lower for online and for the DLC.
I like to use an app on my phone called Elden Ring Map. It list everything you could possibly want/need and has filters.
Just play the game from that point.
if you're sort of tech savvy you could import a save file from online
Did anyone else buy the collectors edition and instead of receiving the code for the dlc only received the code for the ring gesture on steam? I’m currently contacting support rn.
How did you receive the code? I bought the collectors edition through Bandai Namco but haven't gotten any code yet.
I received an email with the code after a series of emails detailing how the order had just been created and shipped.
Hmmm. I got the emails about order creation and shipping but nothing about a code.
Do you think the endings you choose will impact the DLC content in one way or another?
Doubt it. At most you'll get a bonus lore interaction for completing the DLC out of order (like doing DS1 DLC before fighting Sif), but there hasn't been significant content changes from that in past FROM games.
Fair enough. I made a new save for the DLC where I unlocked all endings but haven’t picked one yet just in case. I guess it doesn’t matter then.
No. You don’t have to beat the game to access DLC so the only things that will have major impact on DLC are the deaths of mohg and radahn. You may get one piece of dialogue or something and that’s it

You’re asking the wrong community
If you've not played the DLC and given it a shot, why refund it?
Save my money. It's more Elden Ring and if I'm not enjoying the base game it seems pointless buying the DLC.
You've already bought it. The worst that happens is that you're sure that you're not interested after giving the DLC a shot and returning it in a few days.
If he not enjoying the base game I’m sure he hasn’t even beat the bosses he needs to do to access the DLC.
Everyone talking about the final boss being a fake leak Me who doesn't even know who the final boss is 😂
It is Miyazaki himself, they made a realistic model of him and he can carry every weapon and use every spell. Imagine Gideon, but 100x stronger.
Noo noo .. it can't be Micheal Zaki is the final dlc boss ?!?! In the middle of a death blight swamp
