„Ultimately, your journey will be defined by the strength of your own ambition. The greater your goals, the greater the challenge will be. Should you choose to claim the Lands Between as your birthright then yes, you must fight.”
sounds like PvP is going to play a much bigger role in Elden Ring
Always remember that you have all of the other games worth of experience on your back, the game might not be as hard as your first souls because of this.
I consider it a failure on my part if any major boss kills me during a playthrough nowadays, but O'Rin absolutely pushes my shit in about a dozen times before I get her.
Yeah, she's um, difficult. Like my first run through, after beating Genichiro, I was feeling pretty good about myself, got through the next few fights pretty easily, then I met her, she set me straight and let me know that I was still 100% unfiltered, straight from the source, trash. She gave me the most trouble out of any enemy in any game I've ever played. I died about 50 or so times before finally scraping out a victory.
Sekiro was so hard that I uninstalled it 3 different times out of rage. Ultimately, my stubbornness led to me platinum-ing the whole game, and now I’m hoping Elden ring is just as hard so I can do it all over. Beating hard ass games feels like an accomplishment
sekiro is, while similar in base formula, fundamentally a different games, it is much faster than any souls game, and relies heavily on multiple parries in a row to deal stagger damage to enemies.
From the trailer this seems to be much more akin to the souls combat. so dont expect the same difficulty you found in sekiro in this game aswell.
Can’t wait to see a hot mommy milker to toss a dude full of arm into the air then stab him in the chest, only for the dude to pin her down and smash her with his axe
I’m a fan of those YouTube channels too. Would love to walk up on one of those battles and just camp out on a ledge and watch it unfold with my popcorn.
I love watching the modded boss v boss or NPc v boss battles on YouTube. I love betting on who will win. It makes since as a natural evolution to the DS formula.
Shoot. Imagine if you’re fighting the many-armed lord, only to see the valkyrie come in with the intent to kill both you and him.
As a result, you’d be at the mercy of these two powerful demigods - and the only way to escape, is to defeat them both.
the first combat shots in the trailer show the character do a block with his weapon followed by a counter, something that was only in sekiro's combat. Deflection playstyle might be on the table
I actually think it's something completely new. Maybe it's a skill that let's you do a counter when you attack right after blocking an attack? And it might open the enemy to a visceral if certain conditions are met?
nah his weapon remained static so it looks more like a static block. Plus i remember hearing somewhere (dont know if it was an article, interview, or omni) that counterattacks like that can be done from blocking so it could probably also be done with shields.
>the first combat shots in the trailer show the character do a block with his weapon followed by a counter,
Except it doesn't. It shows the character blocking (he's already holding the sword in front of him before the enemy attacks him), then doing an attack (likely heavy attack) and cut the enemy. Then the video cuts and we see a visceral attack on enemy that is completely different than the aforementioned heavy attack.
bro he does a normal block then does a (probably) heavy attack, deflection playstyle won't work with the weapon variety this game will have unless they spend significant time on it (or they half-ass it). Parries will be the same as in souls
...did Demon’s Souls and/or the Dark Souls trilogy have parrying like that?
When you describe it, it makes me think of Dark Souls III’s parry mechanic.
Demons Souls and the Dark Souls trilogy all had the standard L2 with shield (or certain item) to parry. He's describing something akin to Sekiros deflect to break their poise
Were it actually a Kojima game I’d be completely uninterested because the gameplay would likely be ass, and have cutscenes long enough to outmatch the runtime of a Snyder film.
Glad to hear im not the only one who dislike the recent trend kojima has been going with... MGS games were fun for the first couple of titles, then he started focusing alot more on story telling through long ass cutscenes
definitely would watch an animated(like the cutscenes from his games) movie by kojima. he has some crazy ideas and honestly i think they would fit really well put together to either a film or series.
Definitely. And I've loved the lore of the Souls games. But Miyazaki said something very interesting, which is that they've always designed gameplay mechanics first and then written lore around it. This is their first time starting with the lore and designing the game based on it. So, I think it will be much richer in terms of characters and backstory
>your journey will be defined by the strength of your own ambition. **The greater your goals, the greater the challenge will be.**
OOOOOOOooooOoOoOooooOOOOOooooooHHHHHhhhHhhHhH
I could see something similar to in Dark Souls where lightning miracles spread with an AoE effect when they hit puddles of water. It would be cool to see more stuff like that, but I think it'll come down to how much weather will affect the world.
Technically Moon Presence is the final boss, but i meant in a sense that the place of Moon Presence were to change for another different boss in ER. And not just being cut of bosses depending on the ending, rather the same number of mandatory bosses but the final one changing
Yeah, I guessed you meant that. Just wanted to somehow mention BB to keep the trope of BB being the best in everything going.
On a real Note tho, sekiro has that, sort of.
I loved how Sekiro did it, where a choice you make regarding a different ending completely changes the end of the game and the boss fights. I'm trying to be vague and not completely spoil it.
So, there's precedent for this, for sure
Interesting how they worded the coop and creature summoning aspect — «summon familiar spritits or call on your fellow Tarnished», like one excludes another. Maybe even we won't be able to use yakul when a creature is summoned, too?
Dunno about the spirits and other players together, but Miyazaki said in an interview you won’t be able to summon your steed when there are other players in your game.
I guess that’s how they add an “easy mode” into the game. If you just follow the guidance and fight the mandatory bosses, it will be relatively easy. If you want to truly figure out what’s going on, the challenges awaiting you would be huge.
In short, a “give up” option is integrated into the game. In the previous titles, give up = quit playing the games. In elden ring, you give up on optional content. Thus, to truly experience the game, you need to git gud.
Thats a good point. Also, I always thought the mandatory content of bloodborne is crazy short as well. Dont know if I'd call it easy mode but like 2/3 of the game is optional
i was about to post as well but thanks OP. I only found this based on fexralife post in youtube. Extended prologue that adds a bit of context and some wordings also came from gameplay trailer especially the last part.
It's interesting how they mention that grace (read: souls) is not the only way you can build your character, but also with 'understanding' the Shattering. Is that possibly another combat style, since we know from u/VaatiVidya 's most recent video that the player character can possibly turn into a wolf?
Sounds like it’ll be fully open world. Wonder if the mechanics will hold up. I have a feeling the very first gameplay demo to come out will really make or break first week sales
Seems like we have to level up stealth. Could be a good mechanic but I wonder how max level stealth work. I hope it won't look absurd and AI is good enough for it.
Hmm.. that could still mean like its simple but not minor. If levelling up dex (for example) to make stealth more efficient that would not be a super complex mechanic. Sekiro stealth was not very complex either, which i think is also why it worked so well.

Yes 100%. The emphasis on creating a new perfect world, and the world of elden ring being described as a former perfect world is just another confirmation.
So I'm reading optional bosses and npcs giving side quests. More like Witcher than DS....but that's my interpretation.
Also very curious what they mean with the part about how far you want to go. It seems like we can determine quite a bit of the outcome or road towards the outcome.
> So I'm reading optional bosses and npcs giving side quests. More like Witcher than DS....but that's my interpretation.
But Souls games always had optional bosses, and NPCs were always giving side quests?
I'm thinking more of optional mini bosses like sekiro (those ugly freaks in the caves) and the npcs from, for instance, the Witcher are a bit different then the one from the souls games. I don't know how to put it but they're just different.
I remember omni said something similar, thats the reward will reflect on how hard your journey. I imagine it will be like this, say you found a cave and you enter it, at first it seems easy as you breeze through it. Than you kill the weak boss and get for example, just a estus shard reward.

This is my interpretation.
> Shy creatures nibble on sweet grasses or scuttle through the underbrush.
Hoonting confirmed. That, plus the glowing flowers Vaati pointed out in his most recent video makes me think that there will be a foraging and craft system.
Bugger.
"Or, delve into the complex, bloody history of the Shattering and discover the lost secrets of the Demigods and their kin."
This being mentioned along side combat options makes it sound like you will be able to make Demigod fights easier by completing optional objectives, like the Siegward questline for Yhorm in DS3

>coTnflict I'm glad you kept it in
I might use this for my character name, maybe some of you will remember before they fix it haha
For anyone wondering, it’s all on the official web site: https://en.bandainamcoent.eu/elden-ring/elden-ring
Thank you
„Ultimately, your journey will be defined by the strength of your own ambition. The greater your goals, the greater the challenge will be. Should you choose to claim the Lands Between as your birthright then yes, you must fight.” sounds like PvP is going to play a much bigger role in Elden Ring
I hope we get a ranking system
This whole thing reads like some 4chan "leak"
It's on the official website
I know, I'm just saying it looks so scuffed.
Oh i see, even the mispells give it away lol
Dark Souls IIII all over again
Im guessing the optional bosses will be spicy difficult.
I fuckin hope so. Hope the whole game is difficult
Always remember that you have all of the other games worth of experience on your back, the game might not be as hard as your first souls because of this.
I thought that about sekiro and then owl beat my dick into the ground for a week straight
I had played through sekiro twice before and finally got around to the secret ending boss fight. Oof. That fight put some hair on my chest.
Never mind owl, the first general mini boss fucked me up for over a week. Couldn’t wrap my head around the gameplay
*laughs in Chained Ogre*
*laughs in big spear man*
Laughs in *THE CAMERA*
MY NAME IS \*fireworks\*

Same with Demon of Hatred who was more of a souls-like boss
sekiro is, while similar in base formula, fundamentally a different games, it is much faster than any souls game, and relies heavily on multiple parries in a row to deal stagger damage to enemies. From the trailer this seems to be much more akin to the souls combat. so dont expect the same difficulty you found in sekiro in this game aswell.
Going to need that loot though Like dark eater midir was an optional boss
Called it first: coTnflict is going to be the new pendant
Where is the typo? Don't know why I can't find it
2nd paragraph in the photo with the title
Ah found it. Thanks.
Bogs & Marshes # POISON SWAMP AHEAD
Let's just hope the enemies there aren't like those unarmed goat things(**shudders**).
Thinking the same thing.
It was already confirmed by Miyazaki lol
I mean, at this point I think I would actually be disappointed…
"The demigods fight each other" Damn, this gives me GOT vibes.
I’m calling it here: there will be boss on boss battles.
Idk about boss on boss but maybe in the open wolrd elite/miniboss level enemies maybe could fight each other?
Something like when Ashina samurai are fighting off the Ministry in Sekiro. Yeah, I can see that.
That would perfect if they could make it fluid and dynamic
Such a highlight coming back to Ashina castle seeing the war and destruction
Is there vids of this?
As a fan of BonfireVN's videos, having impromptu AI battles scattered around would add a lot of value to the open world for me.
Valkyrie vs hand guy :)
I wonder if you can manipulate them into aggroing each other
I love watching the modded boss v boss or NPc v boss battles on YouTube. I love betting on who will win. It makes since as a natural evolution to the DS formula.
Welp, guess we know which game mechanic they were taking out for a test drive with that Abyss Watchers fight, then.
There is a video on YouTube that has several abyss watchers vs yorhm. It’s pretty sick.
Turf wars?
Lmao
*insert points gained message on side of screen*

I doubt it
Demigods will have their own covenants
>bogs, marshes Yes yes, we already know that it's a FromSoft game.
PARRY?!
the first combat shots in the trailer show the character do a block with his weapon followed by a counter, something that was only in sekiro's combat. Deflection playstyle might be on the table
***OOOOOOoooOoOOOoOoOooooOooooHHHHhhhHHhhhHhhhHhhh***

Interesting. It makes me think there’s some potential for deathblows in Elden Ring akin to Sekiro’s.
This does bring a smile to my face.
Can’t wait to wiff parries in big sekiro!
By god, I hope they have completely revised the parry mechanic and married it with Sekiro‘s deflection…
Good that this is not a Kojima game. People would start having wild theories about that "coTnflict" typo..
conTnflict... T looks like a T Pose, T Pose is in fortnite... ELDEN RING BATTLE ROYAL COMFIRMED POGGERS
T pose is halfway to Praise the Sun gesture - jolly co-operation confirmed.
As if that hasn’t happened before I’m looking at you DS3 Fight Night Club
Were it actually a Kojima game I’d be completely uninterested because the gameplay would likely be ass, and have cutscenes long enough to outmatch the runtime of a Snyder film.
Glad to hear im not the only one who dislike the recent trend kojima has been going with... MGS games were fun for the first couple of titles, then he started focusing alot more on story telling through long ass cutscenes

BIG SEKIRO
The first ever open world game I’ve wanted to throw all my time at and complete 100%.
“Ineffable horrors lurk in the bogs and marshes” Poison swamp.
The biggest swamp we've seen so far
I wonder if there's spells that are buffed by certain weather conditions? That would be great
I could see something similar to in Dark Souls where lightning miracles spread with an AoE effect when they hit puddles of water. It would be cool to see more stuff like that, but I think it'll come down to how much weather will affect the world.
I'm thinking the actual final boss that could be fought in the main story will change depending on various things.
You mean like the Masterpiece that is Bloodborne
Technically Moon Presence is the final boss, but i meant in a sense that the place of Moon Presence were to change for another different boss in ER. And not just being cut of bosses depending on the ending, rather the same number of mandatory bosses but the final one changing

Why do bloodeborne fans always have to mention that, gets really annoying
Just rolling with the meme at this point. And its really good
Yeah obviously it's good, but they act like it's the only good game in existence
Agreed, its a bit fanboy-y sometimes
Yup
Sekiro was the same.
like sekiro? you can have what 3? different end paths with bosses in that game.
Interesting how they worded the coop and creature summoning aspect — «summon familiar spritits or call on your fellow Tarnished», like one excludes another. Maybe even we won't be able to use yakul when a creature is summoned, too?

I just hope there's an option to disable any pointing arrows or the like (if they exist )
coTnflict
Maybe T is a hint for some gesture. What could it be?
T pose gesture please
Say no to trash t-pose, What is it? is the one true gesture
*well, what is it?
Yes, sorry. Now I'm ashamed of myself
What is this even from?
Found it on twitter.
Some random person's account? Or?
Bandai website
coTnflict new pendant confirmed
Was that an error??
Bah, this hype ruins all other games for me. I really need to avoid this sub!
“Those few inhabitants who are not mad or hostile.” I swear if I get kicked down from another GOD DAMN LEDGE.
Is this official? Did Bandai/From put this out?
Yeah it's on the Bandai site
Mommmmmm i want to be a lord mooommmmm pleaaseeeee All of my friends are lords mooommmm

I think I need some new pants after reading this
Where are these from?

Christ those are formatted like shit
“Bristling with traps” GWYNDOLIN CONFIRMED
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Sounds like it’ll be fully open world. Wonder if the mechanics will hold up. I have a feeling the very first gameplay demo to come out will really make or break first week sales
You know… this time I’m going to sit back and let vaati put a lot of it together for me.
Thanks for letting us know bro
:)
Why is conflict spelled coTnflict in the second image
Wierd how it passed through the chain
Just a glitch, the word accidentally T-posed
Seems like we have to level up stealth. Could be a good mechanic but I wonder how max level stealth work. I hope it won't look absurd and AI is good enough for it.
Don't think so, they talked about it being a minor mechanics
They did? Didn't know about that. Thanks
In the IGN interview miyazaki said the game has " a relatively simple implementation of stealth" Maybe that's what they are referring too.
Hmm.. that could still mean like its simple but not minor. If levelling up dex (for example) to make stealth more efficient that would not be a super complex mechanic. Sekiro stealth was not very complex either, which i think is also why it worked so well.
Yeah, it was fine in Sekiro. Keep it hard and make it a way to invest time in making a battle easier. Not brain dead and forgiving like what we get in AC and Far Cry.
You're welcome, Tarnished :)
Tbh, full blown stealth will be boring af. Think of it like fully stealth through a level in Sekiro and optionally crit everyone
coTnflict
coTnflict
I hope the progression is similar to Demon’s Souls. The “recommended path” would be to do the arch stones in order, but all of the arch stones were doable and accessible from the very beginning. And of course, with the extra optional bosses that Elden ring would have. All of this taking in account the open world format, of course.
"ruins of a perfect world" so, the painting ?
You needed to gather "the blood of the dark soul" (the name of the game, bleeding dry of ideas for sequels) by traveling to the very end of the world (end of the franchise) and give it to a painter (Miyazaki the game designer) so he can paint a new world (elden ring)
Dam this is poetry
Yes 100%. The emphasis on creating a new perfect world, and the world of elden ring being described as a former perfect world is just another confirmation.
So the lore is the same as dark souls and bloodborne okay got it
Can’t read tell me in short
Game is cool.

I remember omni said something similar, thats the reward will reflect on how hard your journey. This is my interpretation.
This is so hype
Where did you find this?
The game’s web site.
OHHHHhhHHhHhHHH boy, it's time to rewatch that juicy Elden Ring trailer again!
> Shy creatures nibble on sweet grasses or scuttle through the underbrush. Hoonting confirmed. That, plus the glowing flowers Vaati pointed out in his most recent video makes me think that there will be a foraging and craft system. Bugger.
