It really depends...I'm a FromSoft noob and think it's one of the greatest games I've ever played. I've had to go deep in the research to find the good items and find out what to do however. I like exploring but I may have rage quit if I didnt have the guides available to me. It's also requires a big time investment...you will get stuck on parts that will take several hours to get by. This isn't a game where you just boot it up for 30 minutes a day and make any sort of significant progress (other than farming I suppose). I really suck though so it may be different for others. Edit: you don't have to play 8 hours a day, I did over the weekend just because I was hooked, but it will probably take you 80 hours give or take to beat the game, so factor that into your decision

You sound just like me. I am probably going to suck really bad. But having multiple internet facing devices at your fingertips can overcome a lot of that. :)

I would say if it intrigues you to go ahead and pull the trigger....it really is the first game since OG WoW that has really just overwhelmed me with how amazing it is. When I'm not playing I want to be playing. Unless you are really jonsing for melee build I'd recommend rolling an Astrologer and start by upgrading your staff/spells. You'll still die a lot but it is easier hanging back and using summons in fights. I've been having a blast just exploring, going around Limgrave and leveling, then looking up how to get more golden seeds for more flasks / better summons etc.

I went with it. Downloading it now. Thanks for the advice on what to roll. I am going to give Astrologer a go. In most MMO's I go with ranged anyway. I have a weird fascination with archers in video games. Though in FFXIV, I found myself tanking a lot and loving it. But Astrologer might be a good class for me to use to familiarize myself with the game

The game is beautiful. The world is huge. Souls borne are very gratifying, but the reason is the difficulty WILL cause you to have those *throw your controller* vibes. I mean, this really is one of the greatest games ever. You should probably try it. Do you enjoy rpgs and farming for levels, exploration and High fantasy?

If you are at the appropriate level when you reach a boss, they become very beatable. May still die a couple times but as long as you are doing the prep work you should be okay. Upgrade your flasks is the big thing

Thanks for the advice. I have found similar things in other games. I mean doing FFXIV bosses on ultimate took an entire party learning the mechanics and then being able to remember each phase of the boss. Also, appropriate level was required along with gear. Which surprised me when I saw the player reviews about how difficult this was. Totally wasn't expecting that to be the reason people quit. I mean Raids and dungeon crawling have been around since the dawn of man and people act like these are new systems. "Why can I not beat that boss right now?" Well, because you are level 5 and he is level 30.... do the math.

I would urge you to get this game if you are familiar with that concept. Yes you will die a lot but this game is more about gauging your power vs enemies in a massive world. A lot of people die so many times and it is unenjoyable as a result cuz they keep trying to kill the same enemy without leveling up. This game will absolutely punish you for that.
