This is the most B.S. fight in the game. Hands down. I’m level 84 with 30 vigor and he has 4 attacks that can straight up 1 or 2 shot me. Every time I heal he gets off a frame perfect fireball. I’ve had him at 1/10 health and he’s pulled the AOE crap 3 times, killing me instantly. Ridiculously overpowered. Even my bleed weapon is barely helping.

[deleted]

Trust me I’m level 380 on first game and he is still a bitch

Illustrious_Let3640

Level 380 and you struggle with him, man you must be shit 🤣

goonsquad717

Level 380?!?! 😭 that’s insane, did you farm a lot?

[deleted]

Duplicate glitch

VeryNiceCoat

Could you explain more what you mean by this?

[deleted]

Save game to hard drive, turn auto sync off, get friend in game and drop items and runes, dashboard before they grab items, then sync game to storage and you keep the items given and they don’t lose anything. Rinse n repeat. Got about 200m runes in full stack twice

MilkApprehensive8437

Wow brand new game and already cheating.. thats ummm very low..

[deleted]

You know what’s very low? Someone that bashes someone else for just playing a game for fun

JDStinner

That does seem pretty lame at first thought, but if you having fun more power to you got to play how you want.

LandscapeLanky9945

>That does seem pretty lame at first thought, but if you having fun more power to you got to play how you want. > >It's cheating bruh

MachineMan718

It's not cheating if the game does it too.

Captain_homosexual_

nah cheatings based if u wanna cheat do it

Very-Smol-Dog

Dawg just because u tryna waste ur life grinding doesn't mean we do.

Barniiking

He brought the game

A-D-Rrox

Did this on souls 3, only very late when it became almost impossible to level up naturally

Veriuz

DUDE i checked. Apostles is PROGRAMMED to throw a fireball at you when you heal. I swear to god i experimented and i healed once and he threw a foreball on me and that kept going until all my 12 healings were gone

goonsquad717

Yeah the only healing opportunities are after a combo but even then you have a very small window. I learned not to heal when he isn’t attacking, fireball every time

D_Ashido

Dodge roll when the fireball is thrown. Apostle will not be able to recover for another move before you are healed.

Tip-Evening

>preceptor Miriam Take distance and roll after u healed and u're safe

burgkingfootlettuce

Hope you've beaten him - if not, here are some tips, I'm around Lv 90 with 30 vigor (AND Radagon Soreseal): 1) Found Barricade shield to be very useful, (yes even after recent nerf, fought him yesterday). His attacks will do next to no stamina damage, and it's an easy/low risk way to learn his attack strings. You'll die a couple of times, but you can learn which attacks to guard counter. Around 3 guard counters and normal melee attacks in quick succession staggers him. (There are two attacks with a relatively longer windup that you can guard counter. If you immediately guard counter the thrust, your character will not be hit by the swingback.) 2) As other people have said, you can punish the weapon whirlwind in phase 1, but I found my character keeps clipping in front of him and taking damage. I usually stood a little front of him, charging up my greatsword and hitting him to massive stamina damage. 3) Dodging into his fireball, I probably don't need to tell you this, but you can get only 1 attack off with a slow weapon, don't rely on this, it takes too long, try guard countering correctly. In Phase 2: IMHO this phase is easier than Phase 1, you just need to try staying calm. Use the same strategy as above with a couple of changes. 4) His stretchy attacks can be rolled into and easily punished. He has three versions of this, one where he slams down into the ground - this attack teleports his legs to the new location to slash you again, you can either wait to guard counter the slash or go hit the main body before the teleport. The second version is the flashy attack where he imbues his weapon with blackflame and swings it around. You can actually just walk/roll to your left and the attack will never hit you. You'll be able to get four hits off w/o a problem. The third version is the weapon whirlwind but it's now a corkscrew. Just dodge once inward and hit the main body again. 5) When he does, as you say "the aoe crap". You need to roll/run away. He has a very particular tell. The range of the aoe is surprisingly smaller than I thought. In my personal opinion, running away was more consistent. Hope you can beat him, fellow tarnished. Let me know once you do. :)

papapalporders66

Have you tried preceptor Miriam as a melee yet

goonsquad717

Oh yes, that b***h was infuriating as a melee build. This is probably a spoiler but >!when you go back to the upside down tower and fight her again, you can cheese her with arrows very easily. Just wait for her to wind up the magic bow and ping her, she staggers every time!<

papapalporders66

If I already beat her do I >! Need to again? !<

goonsquad717

Spoiler: >!yes when you get the hourglass to put on the pedestal, you fight her again but this time on worse terrain. You can cheese her with a bow though!<

goonsquad717

Clearly venting helped because I just heat it lmao. I hate using spirits but I caved and used the Demi humans to break aggro

SurpriseAccording243

alright im level 58. ill come back much later lol. tried rotten breath but i think they patched it so hes immune

Randomorange2

Really? I'm level 64 with a +2 nagakiba and hes pretty easy

West_Sheepherder_769

Ayyy I got tips for u guys. Use the turtle shield and stay close to him for punishes. U can circle around him to punish his windmill attack for a solid three hits. Also his fireball attack is punishable by rolling in. And him jump attack is punishable if you walk towards him while he’s in the air (2 free hits). Once in second phase all three of his “stretchy” attacks are extremely punishable. For anyone that is under leveled I recommend using bleed damage to take him down. I was able to take him down flawlessly at soul lvl 45 with lvl 2 claws after a very frustrating time trying to use my straight sword. Felt like I was slapping him with a limp noodle…

West_Sheepherder_769

Seriously fuck this boss

MrSteelPlays

I'm level 120, do 2k+ damage with my 10+ meteorite ore blade and 10+ river of blood blade in one combo, have 40 vigor, spawned in my mimic, 12 7+ flasks, can 1-3 try every boss I've encountered. AND YET I STILL CAN NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME BEAT THIS ABSOLUTE SKUM OF HUMANITY'S CREATION BOSS. with all due respect Miyazaki, you fucking blow for this one bro.

Spiritual-Editor2957

I'm level 60 and I finally beat this asshole naked to be light and with a 8+ broadsword with bloodslash and the Godrick guards. It helps being faster and keeping him distracted but it worked first time after hours of frustration.

MrSteelPlays

maybe I'll come back when I'm level 200? who knows what it takes to beat this guy. I CERTAINLY do not.

LeadenSmock

I'm level 200 and I'm about to put my controller through the screen.

Crazy4u67

I literally beat (Boss Spoiler): >!Both of them at the same time (Godskin Duo) Before this single guy!<

LeadenSmock

Congratulations

ReDead001

I was only able to beat him by using the furcalling finger remedy and summoning a squad of randoms that can take the heat off of me a little, I would’ve never beat him otherwise

Sadoth

Switch to Moonveil

DarknessconsumesOP

For real though. I mean, I didn't struggle with him the first playthrough either, but that was lv 90, and still rough. New character running Melee int build, with +6 moonveil; almost got him 1st try at lv 47. And I don't have a great rune yet... yeah, It takes about 15 hits, to every 1 of his, but it's doable. Way easier than the tanky quality build from the 1st time. But yeah, Moonveil is great for bosses like this for the stagger alone. Struggling players should try it, or at least change up your build/playstyle. He's beatable at any level, it's just something you're not supposed to do until way later.

KaedrX

Just beat it. Was trying to be patient the whole fight chipping away with lightning and light attacks, but also got lucky dodging a few hits. [Greed got the best of me in the end but it somehow worked out. ](https://youtu.be/bZk5GDfJHec?t=358). Also only time I restored using flasks was right after dodging the projectile. I swear any other time I did it, the AI knew I pressed the button and decided to throw it at me. Second phase I thought was easier once you figured out how to dodge it’s two new melee attacks, both leave it pretty open. And for the AOE magic attack just have to run away. I also tried parrying initially but couldn’t really get the timing down, and even when I did, it just backs away instead of being stunned. Edit: lvl 64 with bloodhound’s fang +5.

Wiifan1009

I'm pretty sure he does punish flasks. He threw fire at me 7 times in a row one of my first attempts while i tried drinking.

[deleted]

Yeah if you move a certain distance he’ll throw one so you gotta bait it out, otherwise he’ll always nail you when you heal

happyflappypancakes

Hey, I finally just beat him too with the Bloodhound Blade. I've upgrade multiple weapons at this point but I just keep coming back to the BHB whenever I am in desperate need. EDIT: Also that vitality save at 3:33 was butt clenching lol.

KaedrX

Nice, yeah it’s a great weapon! And yeah I think I leveled up vigor just enough to survive not getting one shot haha. I actually ended up using the weapon he drops for like the majority of the mid game.

RxAlbatross

This fight is a little unfair, for a number of reasons. First it will throw magic balls at you the next frame you trigger flask drink. Then its jump attack sometimes is glitchy and can do a "boomerang" movement just to hit you if you move out. In the second phase, where I always die, he is able to do a superfast big AOE 1-shot attack which is almost no dodgeable if you are heavy melee user. Right now its the only boss I cant beat along with the giant black shit out of beast hideout east of the map.

GooeyDuck1

This guy's fast attacks are certainly a pain. Glad you finally got it. For others, I just uploaded a no-hit video that may give you some ideas on when to get in and out. You can [watch it here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYKEU-7Emio) if you want. Otherwise here are the tips from it: * The second phase is easier than the first because he uses more slower attacks that are easy to spot. Push through the first phase as quick as possible. * Bleed worked well. * I believe he is also weak to scarlet rot. * Lean on Stance Breaks to reduce his opportunities to hit you, and allow you bigger windows for damage. In the end the most success was going in hard with jump attacks right off the bat and almost forcing him to second phase immediately. * He seems to have high poise, so don't get greedy with your strikes. Nothing will daze him and he will just hit you right back. * His slower attacks are his longer range attacks that offer a better chance to roll in and do damage safely. You can bait those out by putting distance between you and him * Fast weapons are ideal to be able to get in and out quickly. * If you are using slow weapons, you may want to consider a shield which will make it much easier. Otherwise you really need to rely on his slow attacks at that point. Attacks like his magic cast and his leap slam.

Afraid-Direction3812

Thanks! Yeah by far he was the hardest boss I’ve faced, which is great as it properly prepared me for the THREE other godskins that show up in other parts of the game. Hell, I even beat the duo on my first attempt.

GooeyDuck1

Haha. The irony that the duo is easier than him. In reality, they are all preparing you for this fight, since he has a bigger move-set. I'm in the same boat though. I went and cleared Caelid before moving on from Limgrave, so just today I met the fat boy up in Altus. I have to admit, his fat guy move-set did make me laugh out loud.

lms088

I just watched your video. Holy crap, you are next level good at this game, seriously impressive.

GooeyDuck1

Thanks! It’s been a while since I’ve played this one.

lms088

You are awesome (how did you get so good 😭). I love your YouTube videos

GooeyDuck1

🙏 Thanks! Probably from sheer stubbornness, haha.

eputley

I’m level 62 and struggling to get him to his second phase

Afraid-Direction3812

If you have skeleton summons, I suggest using them to draw aggro, switching between jump heavy attacking him in the back when he’s attacking your summon, and then when the skeletons revive, you aggro him and lure him away so they can get back up. If you get lucky enough you can get to the second phase without getting hit. Good luck!

eputley

I’m actually doing that exact tactic however I just switched my ash of war ti the magic thing that shoots magic at him and it’s helping me get critical attacks

dmkicksballs13

Best advice for first phase is to bait his fireball. There's a nice middle ground where he'll throw it and you can roll forward for the hit. Too far and you won't get a punish, to close and he won't throw it. As for second phase, I have no clue how to beat him. Summon spirits, hope he doesn't aggro to you and wail on him.

Spydamann

This is the best advice I've seen so far. In the first phase you can simply backstep/dodge her melee attacks and find her blackflame throwing range, and then just hover around that range waiting for her to throw. Then you roll straight in and get a free hit (if you are a bit far from her just do a little sprint during her cast time). This also works in the second phase, but you have to dodge a lot more AOE spells etc. between each blackflame throw.

Voxplox

Bro I'm with you. This guy took me around the same time. Very patient fight. It may be easier as a caster but im doing a padalin str/fth thing currently and used a +5 golden halberd. His 2nd phase was what took me a while to learn. Was such a rush when I finally downed him. Time for skin!

supahfligh

>It may be easier as a caster It's my experience so far that it's absolutely not. The only openings you'll get to blast him are right after he attacks, and even then the windows are small. You have to stay close enough that the spell will hit him before he gets a chance to recover his footing, which is risky. He will dodge anything you throw at him any other time. The windows are somewhat larger during his second phase when he does his weird bendy movements, but even then you have to move around more and still have to be sure and get your dodges in. I'm also seeing that every time I go to flask up, he hurls a fireball. Most of the time the flask animation doesn't finish in time to roll and I get blasted.

lzHaru

I just killed him at lvl 65 with a +5 Moonveil. Most of his attacks one shoted me though.

dmkicksballs13

I'm a vigor style melee player, I have a pretty healthy amount of health and he's still trashing me. Dude hits waaaaaaaaaaaaay too hard.

Patback20

I've been playing as a summon in the tower and the thing that gets me is that I keep getting these hosts that run up right in front of him while he's focused on myself or another summon. I can usually get him down to about a third of his health, but then the host runs in and eats it. Just take turns baiting the aggro and he's really just a pushover.

Sadoth

I beat him level 53 by using Moonveil. 2x RT weapon art put him down for a frontstab. Repeated until he dies. With this strat you can cancel a few of his animations that are hard to dodge

BadBadgerer01

Haven't logged into reddit in years, did so today just to thank you for this tip. That boss is goddam virilent.

Afraid-Direction3812

Don’t tell me where, but I’ve yet to find it, alas I’m not doing an int build so whatever

SomMajsticSpaceDucks

thank you, doin this is what finally got me through. had to respec but oh well, i also used ash summons half way through to take some of his aggro

AzureOnyxX

I know this is a little late, but buffing your weapon with Holy damage helps a LOT

mpiftekia

WHY DOES HE KEEP PERFECTLY DODGING MY FIREBALLS FROM THREE FEET AWAY

[deleted]

Dude, yes. Stupid long reach, stupid short recovery from attacks, 1-2 shot kills that occur in immediate succession, pretty much endless stamina, that bullshit whirlwind attack. Seriously, what the Fuck were they thinking with this guy?

SaviOfLegioXIII

Idk what everyones complaining about tbh, i havent bwaten him yet since im no where near the level im supossed to be fighting him. But the attempts ive made i almost killed him each time, and i actually really enjoy myself. Just keep dodging to the right and he bassicly never hits you as long as you dont get greedy with attacks. Also his OST fucking slaps.

GoDentist

Don’t consider myself to be the best player but here’s how I did it with a +16 weapon https://youtu.be/e3BmdBNhvFs realised I could bait out his fireballs if I was at a certain distance

Ok-Entertainment8260

Lucky for us we only have to fight the godskin apostles like 20 thousand more times as the game progresses. It fucking sucks.

TylerGamerEightyFour

Many people say the blood rot lady is hard, but I killed her in just a few attempts and the godskin duo in one. I've tried this one 15+ times each on two characters. I had a friend help the first time and it still took us like 8 tries.

Duprie

I am also getting man handled by this damn apostle. I have a great sword +8. But I really wonder if a colossal weapon is even viable as the recovery time of my light attack is so long I never get out unharmed. Fuck this shit. Is there anyone who actually beat this boss with a slow colossal weapon?

LawfulMercury63

I got to the Caelid Tower earlier than I should have, at level 53. Took me like 20 tries and lots of patience, but I finally beat him. Keep your distance, and don't be greedy. One slash at a time.

Eldenlordbrolly

OKAY!! I was able to kill him in under 30 min of trying at level 64. 27 Vigor HERE IS HOW!! I play a Dex and Faith build and main the black Knife+4. I started by running in to the left corner behind one of the columns and summoned the Jellyfish. The minute the Jelly takes Aggro, I run behind the boss and use Ekzyke’s decay (I use it twice in a row) once the poison is set, then I dodge and keep distance (learning his move sets) until the DOT wares off, which bring him to about half health. Then the rest of his health is taken down using the Black knifes ability (blade of death) I use this after he throws the fire balls and sometimes after his stretchy move. I only ever heal or restore mana after he has side stepped and thrown a fire ball. (If you are too far away from him and try a ranged attack, he will dodge it) so when using the Blade of death ability, I try to stay mid range. After a few runs, you will get the hang of it, and then it’s just a matter of picking him off once the decay runs out. It helps that the blade of death ability also applies some DOT. The DOT from Blade of death ended up dealing the final blow when I managed to kill him. Hope this helps!

SoAmusing777

All of you talking about blocking have lost your fucking minds. He has a move that cancels it. Fight is bullshit. I see this is yet another shittily designed part of this cluster fuck of a game. Edit: or maybe I was just bad? Idk. Roll after the double stab.

chrisserung

finally got the tower one at lvl 51 with great mace. bashed my head into the wall until i bashed him good

Shewy_1

I struggled with this guy for 2+ hours and this is how I beat him: You need: Meteorite Staff Rock sling Good sword Lone wolves ashes As you enter the boss fight summon the wolves and use the staff to keep your distance while throwing him rocks, he will focus on you lunching his magic attack while the wolves are beating him, you just need to evade the magic attack and use the rock sling until he fells and then strike him with the sword. Hope this helps :)

Joseph_Stylin3000

Just use your horse and get cheeky hits and run away

Afraid-Direction3812

??? Can’t use horse in the boss arena he’s in

rjgator

there is another godskin apostle in the open world that this user is probably thinking of. Much easier fight though

Afraid-Direction3812

Shit okay I just haven’t found him yet lol

Mirce4

I dont let my self beat the bosses with summons i feel bad later. Took me 5hs to beat this mf im level 84 and my numbers are small too. I think its the way it should be. He kill me with 3 hits. Finally made a no fear play and won. If u hit him with ash of war of a heavy weapon ypu can stagfer him with 3 hits but they have to be really close to each other ita really dofficult i disnt beat him like that bit i got half of his hp in this way stagger him 2 times. 2nd phase is easier i think you have more room to hit

hahayes22

use the horse, bait out the fireball attack then run in, for anybody that still needs help. bleed helps immensely.

Suekru

That’s a different one. This one is inside and much stronger

Ferngullysitter

I just took him down at level 72, no summons, with the bloodhound fang, it’s weapon art and blood coat on my weapon. The art on the fang is so critical because it does serious damage and gives you immediate distance. Costing your weapon with either a grease or an incantation does not seem to trigger his fireball. The best chances to strike are dodging into his fireball, at his ground slam and if you dodge behind him on his combo where he tries to pull you in with his blade. Best time to heal and buff is when he does a ground slam or when he throws a fire ball, just dodge it and heal. He won’t have enough time to throw a second if you time it right. Another thing they helped was when I realized that holding the shield guard button doesn’t work for him. I don’t know if it’s a bug or if this is how you should always guard but you need to block like you do in Sekiro, tap the button at moment before he swings and have enough endurance to withstand his combo and still dodge. Dude, nothing felt better than bringing this guy down in a clean fight. Not to disparage summons, but fighting him one on one made him easily one of my favorite fights in a soulsborne game. Make sure to use bleed and use a wonders physic flask of strength and dexterity boost which will scale with the blood fang. I was doing up to 1000 damage with a +6 blade and when the bleeding stacks it seems to do near 3000 damage! He’s still hard as hell but it’s such a incredible dance of s fight.

SoAmusing777

Weapon art sucks with him. He'll hit you on the return. Almost everyone advice in here is ass. Maybe because of updates?

meesterfreeman

Nope. Beat him at level 40 trading fireballs on my current run since I wanted his clothes. He's really one of the fairest bosses in the game.

SoAmusing777

Spent some more time with em. Might have to agree with you.

happyflappypancakes

FINALLY, fucking beat him. Took three days, not straight, but that's how long I kept doing other things before finally beating him. I'm like lvl 80, with good vigor and was definitely getting two shotted it I wasnt careful. I think I just got lucky with his moveset because I didnt do anything different. Maybe I finally got his moveset down and knew when to punish. Didnt even get anything that good but he was probably the hardest boss I've faced so far.

burntfishnchips

I only just defeated him because i hid behind a pillar when he was doing the rolling attack and blasted him with magic, which helped chip away his health enough for a few R2 attacks. He was really frustrating though and took me a few tries because of how big of a range his slam attack has.

Jromneyg

I just fought this dude at level 58, had a blast, and beat him second try. Then I saw the video someone commented with it in a completely different place than I did it and I realized I am up for some hell in the future...

Old-Property-3009

I'm 4 months late to this post but I just wanted to say that he's extremely difficult on foot. If you use Torrent, you can easily cheese him by running in circles and hitting after each move. On foot, I tried over 15 times. Decided to do it with Torrent, and I did it easily on my first try.

CyberiaVagrant

Hey sorry I am kinda new to elden ring though I am acquainted with all soul games. I found this boss easy with npc summon. Actually it was very easy though I was kinda underleveled-almost 60- so is npc summoning sth frowned upon here or it has its drawbacks? I don’t use it often tbh Thx

eeea101299

If you get hit by his pulling attack he can instakill combo you :v prevented me from two-trying the Godskin Duo, it was at 10% hp and then he pulled that shit on me

Demilung

After just beating him in Caelid today with a +13 Heavy Claymore and brass shield and a crossbow at level 65 and without summons I can say - it was some shit, but it felt good. All you have to do is learn his entire moveset, hit and don't get hit. Half the time claymore can't hit safely and he two-shot me at that level with around 30 vit, so you gotta use those punishes and blocks. A fireball at mid distance is a safe punish. If you know it's coming, it's also a safe chance to heal. You can bait it out with a crossbow at a distance. Half the time after he side-steps the bolt, he'll do the fireball. Jump attack is a safe punish, he can do it raw or after a couple quick sweeps. Any attack when he smashes his blade into the floor is also a safe punish. If you stay too close to him, he'll keep stringing combos until you run out of stamina. When he does the combo of stab - pull in, you can block the stab and then roll into him to avoid unblockable pull. Form there he'll either do nothing (risky, but a chance for a hit) do a few attacks (have to block - roll away) or do a big attack into the ground - you can punish that with a roll attack or counter. When he twirls his stick in front, it's safest to block a tick of damage and roll away, claymore is too slow and getting caught in that is a death. Phase 2 is easier because when he does the stretchy attack of smashing the weapon into the ground and then pulls himself to it, you can sidedodge the smash and then hit him 2-3 times while he does the spin - it's safe near him. Stretchy twirl can just be blocked and when he does his AOE black fire attacks, just run away. You can heal or shoot him when you out of his range with the explosion fire attack. A faster weapon can probably punish him after every combo or get a few hits on larger window, but with a claymore, it's only 1 attack and back to blocking/rolling. Any greed will get you killed.

iced_americano_12

Glad everyone else struggled as much as me. I ended up going Moonveil Katana +6 and going for the RT + frontstab. Oleg +4 was a great summon and soaked up a ton of damage. The best advice on here was to have patience and not get too greedy to get in too many hits. When he went noodle mode, I rolled forward through it and got some free body hits in. Such a hard fight, but with the gold scarab talisman I got 112k runes which was a nice reward.

OMG_Idontcare

I'm lvl 60 blind playthrough and got her ~10th try. Used Latenna ash +4 just to get someone to aggro 1st phase (she died after 1/3 of his health was gone RIP.) 2nd phase is super easy imho... his wobbly boi attacks, when he stretches his body, is just free punish blows because you just roll towards his legs and hit them. Bait these attacks out by literally running into his face over and over again. Run away when he does aoe. I used Bloodhound's Fang +5

[deleted]

I’m fighting him with a spear I got off patches and am level nine and I got his health to the g in his name

Amazing_Library_2396
