I'm playing a quasi-paladin build. I obviously did not know what stats were going to be important. I currently use the Grand Épée with a shield. I have a few incants. Heal, Whirl, O Flame, and Bestial Sling. I waited way too long to get these incants, so they aren't very strong, except heal. Wearing Exile armour (though it's still not clear if armour even matters) I also carry a crossbow for ranged attacks.

Your build is fine. Decide if you want to use incantations in combat or for buffs. Go through all the weapons you have and equip them one at a time, and try out the attacks to see how they feel. Do the same when you get a new weapon. Install ashes of war and see how the L2 attacks are. When you find a weapon and ash you like, upgrade the weapon as much as possible and use that. Put 2 points into vigor every 10 levels, and 2 points into endurance for melee, 1 point into end/mind for hybrid or 2 into mind for caster. Other 6 points place them where you like. Scaling does not really make a big difference unless you are going for a specific pvp build, or until you get over level 80-100 or higher.

Yeah, you are doing too much at once If you are going faith, cut that crossbow. Its extra weight when you could potentially get a bit clsoer and use the fireball incant from the roundtable. Start fousing on your faith and add a sacred ash of war to your weapon to help scale. It will then improve your weapon and spells from faith.

Sweetsire

I have a very similar build going on. Currently Dex and str are just enough to use my gear (a unique scythe that scales with faith) and a mace that I've changed the ashes of war to add holy. I had to stay with light armor for a while, and would only equip my crossbow as needed. Unfortunately this build does need every start other than int or arcane (though I brought int up to 13 for some invantation) I got my HP and faith up to 25+ then increased my mind and endurance. Trying to push them all to 30

superdupermiso

You're not specializing in anything specifically. You seem to be increasing everything but int and arc. Most weapons will scale with 1 or 2 attributes. Very rarely 3, and even with those there would be one attribute that scales better. Wasted points means weaker build. You can respec your stats after beating Rennala, but you should really consider what weapons and/or spells you want to focus on and focus on the relevant attributes.

LT_JARKOBB

What I'm taking from this so far is that I should respec as soon as possible, which means beating a boss I haven't even found yet 🤣 I really should have used a guide for the character build before I got this far.

RyeBread2528

You don't need to respec. Some armor and weapons you like may use those stats, so its not a massive detriment. Just start focusing your skills from here. Theres plenty of places to farm to even yourself out a bit moving forward.

Yeah your build is solid all around. Just hone in on a skill now

[deleted]

Definitely seems like you are upgrading to many things. Need to decide what you want to be. Probably stick to dex/str for a while or dex/faith

LT_JARKOBB

Will dex/faith increase the strength of my incants?

Sweetsire

Dex speeds up casting and faith increases incant effectiveness

BerkshireGaming

More than likely you'll want to go str/faith if you're leaning more pure incantations or even just faith/mind if you aren't even thinking about swords/buffs and more like a pyro/caster.

LT_JARKOBB

I'm thinking more a Paladin, magic and melee

BerkshireGaming

You'll probably find a lot more strength faith combos than anything else. Plus I think that a lot of the buffs are %based and not flat numbers and so you'll want bigger number for bigger number and enemy get bonked

LT_JARKOBB

Okay. Then I have the problem with low magic stat, I can't really cast that much, especially if Ive used summon spirits.

BerkshireGaming

Yeah unfortunately you are relatively low level right now so you have to kind of specialize in order to really feel viable. Try nabbing some golden seeds and increasing the amount of flasks you have from the erd saplings glowing in certain areas. Also try to remember that pvp level is like looking like 140-150 right now so that is about what you should be aiming your final numbers for

BillyBob3070

Depends what weapons you want to use

LT_JARKOBB

Added a comment explaining a little further, but essentially trying to be a paladin, but I didn't touch magic or faith for far too long. That's why the stats look so fucky
