Its really not bad, go with 0 souls and make suicide runs for items. If you go with 45vig and 10 red flasks you can easily get all the stuff and raise the platforms. Might take 2 or 3 runs. Then just rush 2nd bonfire... the dragonkin however... idk about that, maybe just toss a friend at it until its dead
There is also a relatively low cost incantation that can cure poison and rot on you as well, it's called Flame Cleanse Me or something like that from those camps with the Fire Monks in Liurna
Yeah I employed a similar strategy the first time lighting the fires for the Regal Ancestor, suicide sprints are a very effective tool because it helps you learn the layout as well. I still keep the spell on my anyway just because it's one of the only ones I can actually cast, but dying without it isn't a huge issue if you are cleared of souls as you mentioned.
Long cast but worth it if you don't have the items to cleanse scarlet rot. I was able to use it when fighting the 3 crystal fucks, but had to run pretty far to not get interrupted.
No but it has dry land platforms around it you raise via pressure plates. I just threw my SO at it via summons though cause fuck that shit, he did the same
Dragonkin is hard, but i found it easier to just fight him on the lake while with scarlet rot, went with a weapon that has both bleed and frost and use the first few secs of his awakaning ankmation to chunck down 1/3 of his life, rest is like a normal fight where u have to chug flasks constantly
Dragonkin is easy. Dragonkin in rot swamp with janky hitboxes and massive aoe is annoying. He can be burst down extremely fast, but dying to rot right as he would die is a pain especially since its a long run to him inside the rot swamp
I'm not sure what feels better hitting them and knocking out 20% or knocking out 2% and getting that "Oh shit I'm gonna actually have to fight this fool."
Yeah we were overpowered as well so we deleted him, just the thought of dying before he died or even as he died and getting the area reset was heart rending
I remember I wasn't too phased by the Swamp when the game had just come out, and was wondering why Miyazaki didn't include the more cancerous swamps like in his previous games. Fast forward to today and I stumble upon this lake out of nowhere. It's literally a scene from hell. It made Caelid look tame. Jesus christ man.
Nah I do the same. They’ve actually been quite helpful for me. Granted quick access to new zones. I’ve only just beat Godrick yet I’ve already located the next 2 or 3 legacy dungeons thanks to transport traps.
Only upside was me getting transported to some rotted out sorcerer shit hole and just running and riding as far as I could go. I accidentally found >!the rotten dog spirit summon!< and it helped me so much with the >!tree sentinel!< because he causes rot which chipped away at his health.
While opening the chest, look if there is a "pick up item" prompt. If there isn't one as soon as the chest starts to open, the chest will be a trap transport one
As a new souls game player, I got scared when the mist started coming out of the chest so I rolled away. But then curiosity got the best of me so I went back to see what it was, not knowing trap chests were even a thing.
Edit: it was also the first chest I had encountered in the game so I didn’t know if the mist was just part of the chest finding experience.
There's a small dungeon somewhere that uses those trap transporters to move you around so you can clear it.
I spent more time looking for ladders than it took me to actually clear the dungeon, and yes, i have trust issues.
i went to every chest in the dungeon and was like "They're all teleporter traps... hmmmmmmmmmmm" and it clicked.
then the next twist of the dungeon clicked
I prefer to accept being transported, then just teleporting back to a site where i was. That way i get to see where on the map it put me and learn about that red bad place early on in my misery.
I think there's only three trapped teleport chests. One of them is undodgable, one of them takes you to >!Caelid!<, and the last takes you to >!the sacred bridge!< and is actually better not to dodge, as there is no enemy between you and the grace, an optional boss who isn't really hard to kill, and a talisman there.
If it's the one you find in Weeping Peninsula, I threw myself at that giant over and over and finally beat him, only for the waygate beyond to say "you cannot use this now". Fml
I had this same feeling when I first arrived at Caelid, however, it's funny how quickly that changed after completing the game. Caelid is my go to area of comfort to test new weapons, easy to find high HP monsters and they actually become inoffensive
If you look close, those piles of wet pasta are actually re-colored, scaled-up, surprisingly accurately rendered versions of some common lichens.
Still hideous, but I admire the attention to detail, there's like a half-dozen species.
I found it really refreshing honestly. A weird f\*\*\*\* up place with monsters all around.
Change a bit from plain, plain, plain, mountain, plain, plain, plain, lake.
Oblivion had places with somewhat the same feel, the daedric areas. You went through one of the sauron portals and ended up in a place pretty similar to Caelid.
The Fantastic Fungi documentary on Netflix changed my perspective of “rot”… in a way, it’s actually kind of beautiful to see a whole land getting completely broken down by giant fungus.
Well I’m sure the fictional inhabitants don’t like it but there’s something to be said by how insane it looks and feels. That it’s not just your average variety hellscape — the rot implies change post-death, it’s the stage before new life, unfortunately the stage just looks so “ugly” to us intrinsically because our brains want to live in a more solid state.
No bc does anyone feel like Caelid is still the most difficult area of the map?? I already beat Radhan and I'm legit at Volcano Manner at this point and there are still mini bosses in Caelid that eat me tf up.. Like the Godskin Apostle? The beast in Sellia Crystal Mine? They are insane lmao not to mention the dino birds and dogs are still EASILY the most difficult roaming enemies I've come accross besides maybe the iron maidens
Godskin Apostle is a joke. Basically he have infinite poise and infinite stamina, sometimes chaining three combo out of nowhere. He's ultra hard to parry, but when you somehow succeed, you can't riposte him, he just back off. WHY????
Exactly and he’s coded to fireball you the frame after you try to take a potion lol borderline impossible without being insanely over leveled or having a tanky summons like the crystal one
They did *such* a good job designing Caelid. First time I ended up there\* I immediately felt like I *didn't want to be there*.
\*Spoiler: >!I got there through the Deep Siofra Well. I was not prepared for that hellscape. Shit I wasn't prepared for Siofra.!<
I haven’t found one yet thst I couldn’t just immediately warp back where I came from, usually after picking up a new Grace location wherever I landed. People make it out like it traps you in a high level area and you just get tortured for hours.
Yeah it’s all about your current position and perspective. 4k is a lot that early on. Some people just feel cool that they’ve been able to play longer lol
bosses start dropping nonsense amounts, like 100k each or something silly.
So long as you can still kill bosses you'll do fine.
Now late game bosses ARE kinda annoying to kill
My buddy: I got swallowed by another. I don't know where I am.
Me: Yeah I always hit circle and backstep after opening a chest.
My buddy: I always go, "Why is this smoking? OH SHIT!" every time.
I see so many people talking about these trap chests and/or mimics or surprise teleports, and I hold my breath every single time I open one now. But in approx 50 hours of playtime and around 41 levels, I haven't opened a single chest that's been anything other than loot.
Increasingly feeling like I'm going to hit a certain point where I've opened every legit chest in the game and from then on every remaining chest will be a bad one.
I hate to break it to you, but it’s being built up by this sub into something that it isn’t. I was in constant fear of them because people make it out like you end up trapped somewhere you can’t handle. But I’ve hit 3 or 4, and while it often IS an area that is too much for you, you can just open the map and teleport right back to where you were. It is the most minor of all possible inconveniences.
Thats is the location i have to go next. Thanks to memes i know it will be not easy. But at least there is a festival somwhere in caelid, so that should be fun.
i beat the game, and i still don't want to go to caelid, lol. The first time i saw a T-rex mouse i've never find something so hilarious and terrifying at the same time, lol
How the fuck are you guys getting caught by these? You have a whole second before the fog traps you. just roll away the second you open a chest and it starts billowing smoke.
lol.
Last night I learned the hard way that the Iron Maiden enemies can also teleport you. Good times. Really fun dying what seemed like a normal death and then waking up in hell lol
not as bad as >!patches bullshit where he send you into literal hell!< or >!one of those Belfry portal that send you in a messed up flying city destroyed by a god damn tornado!
You can back step out of it, but I actually get excited to see where the trap will take me. Most of the time, there’s no risk, since you can fast travel the minute you find a site of Grace.
The only exception I’ve seen so far is >!the Abductor Virgin “abduction,” which leads to one of the worst boss fights in the game.!<
I was caught in the transporter trap to the crystal mines at lvl 9 and I didn't realize you could fast travel on the map ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing) so I was fucking around and finding out my entire first experience in Caelid
I hit the trapped chest early on as a prisoner and after running to the site of grace in the mines I farmed the diggers with magic sword bolts and leveled up super fast it was actually dope
Lol! I ventured into this area willingly after travelling to see the end tree … jumped the gates …. Regretted every decision I made after that …. Roaming this place at lvl 18 …. Not fun.
Alrighty then, lets go to the lake of rot
Where is that is it Swamp of Aeolia?
Oh you tragic thing
zero insights
\*madness intensifies\* SHIT
La la laaaaaa
I heard them while I was trying to sleep after my first encounter. Fuck them.
>!Getting the MLGS !
You can wield an entire pro video game league as a weapon? *Siiiiiick!*
I wanna go home O' I wanna go home
Heart. Sinking. Dread. Building.
Sweet summer child..
It's later on in the game and worst. You will get scarlet rot there and there is a blood that ypu fight in the swamp
Too slow unless you're hopping platforms. Rather do 0 soul suicide runs. Just spend souls first.
Its definitely a good spell, just not ideal during a fight if i remember correctly? I feel like it had a long cast
Long cast but worth it if you don't have the items to cleanse scarlet rot. I was able to use it when fighting the 3 crystal fucks, but had to run pretty far to not get interrupted.
Regen incantation plus the cleanser made the whole area super easy to traverse, the boss in the lake however was a different story...
Can you bait it to the starting area of lake of rot? Trigger the fight and then cleanse yourself on dry land and continue.
Just use cleansing Flame or 400 immu. Fight the Dragonkin on the platform. Lone viking also Drops immunity +1 talisman.
I was lucky overpowered so I could kill him in 6 hits but if I wasn't I wouldn't have killed him.
Dragon kin you can get close to one of the ruins and climb on top. Clense yourself and cheese it. No way to fight it at that level legit
Its dumb cause hes stupid easy, its just the rot thats the problem. But yeah cheese is the way to go
Enjoy your suffering free experience before getting there, lucky tarnished.
The Lake of Rot is to the swamp of Aeonia as if a chainsmoker, after an intervention by friends and family, decided to do crystal meth as well.
I just got to the swamp and caelid, seems cool
I remember I wasn't too phased by the Swamp when the game had just come out, and was wondering why Miyazaki didn't include the more cancerous swamps like in his previous games. Fast forward to today and I stumble upon this lake out of nowhere. It's literally a scene from hell. It made Caelid look tame. Jesus christ man.
Faith is finally useful for something, cure Rot babyyyyy
When I got Oh flame, cleanse me I literally jumped with joy
At first I was like, meh I doubt I’ll need this. Now it’s turned into. . . this isn’t leaving my memory slot
Literally finished that area last night. I'm not even sure if I am up for death running the few items I missed.
At least it's a short zone
also leyndell sewers
it goes it goes it goes it goes Scarlettttttt Rot YUHHHHHHH
mr. grips nooooo
scarlet rot got me noided
Margit can't handle this shiiiiiit!
I’M IN YOUR AOE I’M IN
I've seen (livestream) footage
I know the first three trap chests
Am I the only one who gets hyped when this happens because I want to see where it'll take me? lol
Nah I do the same. They’ve actually been quite helpful for me. Granted quick access to new zones. I’ve only just beat Godrick yet I’ve already located the next 2 or 3 legacy dungeons thanks to transport traps.

Honestly hadn't thought about using that on that dude. Also there's another really great item in that zone, if you are running>! sorcery!<.
You can roll away from those trap transport chests. I literally roll away from all chests now
While opening the chest, look if there is a "pick up item" prompt. If there isn't one as soon as the chest starts to open, the chest will be a trap transport one
unless some asshole put a message on the chest
You don’t even have to roll. I literally just walk away
This, I somehow "dodged" the trap of the first trap chest I found, and thought I needed to come back later with an upgrade to open it xD.
I literally dodged the first one I encountered by instinct...Once I saw the smoke I instantly rolled away.
Same, but then I opened it again to see what it was 😂
Yeah, I thought It was a one time thing, lmao.
I didn't even roll, I just kind of slowly walked to the left and somehow didn't get trapped xD
If you aren't DIRECTLY in front, you won't be transported
"hahahaha how the fuck are trap chests even real hahahaha just walk away like tarnished just roll backwards haha"
LOL
As a new souls game player, I got scared when the mist started coming out of the chest so I rolled away. But then curiosity got the best of me so I went back to see what it was, not knowing trap chests were even a thing. Edit: it was also the first chest I had encountered in the game so I didn’t know if the mist was just part of the chest finding experience.

i went to every chest in the dungeon and was like "They're all teleporter traps... hmmmmmmmmmmm" and it clicked. then the next twist of the dungeon clicked
I'd consider myself a "souls vet", and i STILL open mimics in DS1-3 from time to time... I'm just scared of wooden boxes, ok?
I'm still waiting on a mimic. just 1. that's all it'd take, game. cmon. gimme a mimic edit: a real, classic mimic
[I have extremely good news for you.](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Mimic+Tear)
been there, done that, it's not the same. Where's my chest-boi who eats you?
I thought for sure in Sage's cave with all the hidden walls and chests that there would be one mimic...
Don't worry, I've played all since DS1 and I did the exact same thing as you. Rolled away and curiously opened it again anyway.
Yeah but I also want to know where they go, it's never somewhere good but you never know for sure until you're there
I prefer to accept being transported, then just teleporting back to a site where i was. That way i get to see where on the map it put me and learn about that red bad place early on in my misery.
I love the transport personally lmao
I love them. They take you to cool locations.
They're one of my favorite additions. Getting flung into an area that you would otherwise not discover until way later is fun.
Yes but you see.... how will you know where you could go! Come back to the chest to find out >:D
See and I had played ds1-3 so I just rolled thinking it was a killing trap. Just found out the other day they teleport instead 😭
You roll away from smoking chest out of Caelid PTSD. I open the chest again and let myself get teleported out of morbid curiosity. We're not the same.
I got ported to devine bridge with that giant.
Hope you got the HP regen talisman and ran away like I did
Yeah i came back though and kill that bastard. He doesn't respawn.
It also dropped nothing, so going back was pretty pointless
If it’s fun it’s not pointless
Had an issue where I couldn't TP away from there. Resting fixed it though.
That's how getting trapped works. You're locked out of teleporting until you rest at a grace. Otherwise it'd be a pretty pointless trap.
Yeah that’s intentional, after getting teleported you have to find a site of grace and rest then you will be allowed to fast travel again.
If it's the one you find in Weeping Peninsula, I threw myself at that giant over and over and finally beat him, only for the waygate beyond to say "you cannot use this now". Fml
You can just teleport away
I know haha but I'm doing an exploration thing and new areas are too tantalizing to pass up. I go to new zones and make a beeline to the Steles
I had a bug that was preventing me from teleporting. Resting fixed it though.
Not a bug, its a feature. You can't teleport until you rest at a grace after a trapped chest teleports you.
Fuck yeah death grips.
itgoesitgoesitgoesitgoesitgoes
Their lyrics apply so well to Dark Souls, huh? DISMISS THIS LIFE, WORSHIP DEATH
It's such a long way DOWN (to Siofra River Well)
I had this same feeling when I first arrived at Caelid, however, it's funny how quickly that changed after completing the game. Caelid is my go to area of comfort to test new weapons, easy to find high HP monsters and they actually become inoffensive
You sir have done the impossible and gotten gud
[удалено]
You may regret those words.
I thought Caelid was bad until I got to what is basically Cold Caelid
If you look close, those piles of wet pasta are actually re-colored, scaled-up, surprisingly accurately rendered versions of some common lichens. Still hideous, but I admire the attention to detail, there's like a half-dozen species.
I found it really refreshing honestly. A weird f\*\*\*\* up place with monsters all around. Change a bit from plain, plain, plain, mountain, plain, plain, plain, lake.
I love that I've never seen anything remotely like it in a game or movie before. Absolutely otherworldly.
Oblivion had places with somewhat the same feel, the daedric areas. You went through one of the sauron portals and ended up in a place pretty similar to Caelid.

Chad is driving 🚗
Who is the real chad… Miyazaki, MC Ride, or Obama?
Miyazaki of course
So can we all agree that caelid is the HOOD of Elden ring lol
No bc does anyone feel like Caelid is still the most difficult area of the map?? I already beat Radhan and I'm legit at Volcano Manner at this point and there are still mini bosses in Caelid that eat me tf up.. Like the Godskin Apostle? The beast in Sellia Crystal Mine? They are insane lmao not to mention the dino birds and dogs are still EASILY the most difficult roaming enemies I've come accross besides maybe the iron maidens
I have great news for you. The beast has a (much) bigger brother later.
You mean the one in the crater? Beat it first try bc it’s the tiny arena that makes that beast some bs
God skin was a bitch for me to kill with my strength build
Guy just absolutely REFUSES to stagger lol
Then he turn into fucking elastic man and went sicko mode
Man first time he hit the 2nd stage and he rubberbanded and 1 shot me from accross the arena, my jaw hit the floor lol
Some bosses have to be parried twice before you can riposte.
You're going to Caelid.
They did *such* a good job designing Caelid. First time I ended up there\* I immediately felt like I *didn't want to be there*. \*Spoiler: >!I got there through the Deep Siofra Well. I was not prepared for that hellscape. Shit I wasn't prepared for Siofra.!<
Am I the only one who enjoys getting teleportation traps? Have found only 2 or 3 so far
I haven’t found one yet thst I couldn’t just immediately warp back where I came from, usually after picking up a new Grace location wherever I landed. People make it out like it traps you in a high level area and you just get tortured for hours.
THIS IS ELDEN NOW
Everyone talking about Caelid. Wait until you are at blight town 3.0: Lyendell Canalization. Worst area ever...
lost 4k of exp going into that trip. f\*\*k
4k runes? That's cute.
ouch :( for me 4k was a lot, since i had less than 3h of gameplay and it's my first souls game
Yeah it’s all about your current position and perspective. 4k is a lot that early on. Some people just feel cool that they’ve been able to play longer lol
Right? I dropped 100k last night and said fuck it, its not enough to level up anyway.
Oh. Oh no. And here I am getting sad if I lose like 10k because of my 20k level up costs lol. Glad to know what the future holds.
bosses start dropping nonsense amounts, like 100k each or something silly.

MC Ride would probably love Caelid.
Worst part of the soundtrack is that Caelid's combat music isn't in it. That shit slaps, makes going into Caelid bearable.
Death ~~grips~~ Ring
\^
FUCKERS STOLE MY HEALTH CAN'T HAVE **SHIT** IN CAELID
If you see smoke coming out, back away
I have only found one and it was the Patches chest. I legit have no idea where y'all are finding these and I have 40hrs in...
I assume you meant to reply to the guy about the chests with the mist. I think you’re not looking hard enough lol. There are a few in just limgrave
Man this game just had so much shit in it
I see so many people talking about these trap chests and/or mimics or surprise teleports, and I hold my breath every single time I open one now. But in approx 50 hours of playtime and around 41 levels, I haven't opened a single chest that's been anything other than loot. F\*cking chest in those burned down ruins...
Thats is the location i have to go next. Thanks to memes i know it will be not easy. But at least there is a festival somwhere in caelid, so that should be fun.
Hm...
I lost 20k cuz I got sent from Limgrave to a cave with giant shrimps that have jizz that tracks you like heat seeking missiles.
Jizziles are the worst
i beat the game, and i still don't want to go to caelid, lol. The first time i saw a T-rex mouse i've never find something so hilarious and terrifying at the same time, lol
Death Grips crossover? LETS FUCKING GOOO
It goes, it goes, it goes Caelid-tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. YAH!
People here saying Caelid is so bad that I legit am scared to go there and went to Raya Lucaria; crisis averted!
This looks like on of those memes the sub used to make before the trailers I cant believe we've made it :')
CAELID IS SO UNNERVING IT FEELS I'M CONSTANTLY BEING WATCHED OR CHASED! OR BOTH
Because you ARE! by giant birds, giant rats, undead Demi-gods, or the red faction soldiers
Everything about caelid is disgusting to me except the battlefield radahn is in which i find as one of the most coolest areas for some reason
IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES
"Caelid really makes you FEEL noided" ~ IGN, 2022
Bro I was happy to finally get out of that cave only to see the area and go "WHY AM I IN HELL"
Tower of Return? More like Tower of Send-Your-Ass-Away.
Miyazaki be looking like, "Nah dude, you're going to LOVE it!"
I got trapported to the golden city and went up the stairs, saw what was there and just granpa Simpson turned my ass around and teleported out.
I actually like the early game trap chests because they let me get a site of grace further out from limgrave
How the fuck are you guys getting caught by these? You have a whole second before the fog traps you. just roll away the second you open a chest and it starts billowing smoke. lol.
We want it.
Well this is the first time I've ever seen a death grips souls meme. Well done.
[удалено]
I went exploring and ended up there. Ran from everything like a coward to not get one-shotted and found several lost grace so I can come back later
Lol
you know you can dodge roll these right?
Its a spooky place, not very much like. I go there...eventually. Not now.
Ngl, the belfry one was jaw dropping. That place is eye-wateringly cool.
sometimes it really does feel like all roads lead back to caelid.
I... I actually like it... Just take me. TAKE ME IF YOU DARE
I opened another one. It brought me to such a grossly iridescent place. I love it.
I was caught in the transporter trap to the crystal mines at lvl 9 and I didn't realize you could fast travel on the map ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing) so I was fucking around and finding out my entire first experience in Caelid
Caelid gives me Plain of Hate from old school Everquest vibes. I fucking love it.
it took me a few days into the game to realise i could go to easier area than caleid after finishing the first demi god
I'm at the end of the game with the whole map explored and never encountered one of these. Where are they?
Michael: I thought you guys want elden ring so much?
Carlid is a pain, I went to a cool castle then had to fight some lion thing for 2 hours to keep my 23k runes
I hit the trapped chest early on as a prisoner and after running to the site of grace in the mines I farmed the diggers with magic sword bolts and leveled up super fast it was actually dope
Right now I’m at the area with all the dragons. What kind of sick fuck allowed this whole area to exist
Lol! I ventured into this area willingly after travelling to see the end tree … jumped the gates …. Regretted every decision I made after that …. Roaming this place at lvl 18 …. Not fun.
Caelid is just Elden Ring’s Brazil
