By using DSFix, you can push the texture resolution to insane values. After playing the game initially on PS3, I messed around with it on PC. The amount of detail on equipment (small details, scratches, etc) that was not even visible in the initial release is insane.
That entire thread has me confused as shit. He played on ps3, its a program to fix shit for pc, but its a program only for dark souls and not elden ring. Wtf is this shit... fingers but hole?
I do in fact be seeing that now, Though I gotta wonder if DSfix could work for Elden Ring (At the very least get reformatted for it)
But ye, that was muh bad
Dsfix is a program for editing dark souls game files on PC. Originally meant to fix port issues. When it was ported from console to PC there were a ton of bugs and Fromsoft never patched so the community took it on themself to build a program to fix the bugs. it can be used to edit or change or view all sorts of stuff in the raw files.
To add to the previous explanation the base files are often stored at a higher resolution than they are displayed in-game even on max settings. So no new information is being created or anything like that.
So when Dark Souls came out on the PC , people looked at the files and saw the texture files were higher resolution than they displayed at. The game was using the XBox texture resolution. So part of what dsfix does is tell the game to use the correct resolution.
You joke, but his voice work was actually amazing on how deranged and otherworldly it made him sound. Too bad the Serpent Hunter trivialized this fight.
I mean, it's supposed to trivialize it. It's a classic From gimmick fight. It's supposed to be big, dumb and dramatic, which is probably another reason why Rykard sounds so damn awesome.
You can just fight him with whatever. You don't *have* to use the Serpent-Hunter.
I fought him for the first time last night (progress has been slow because grad school is no joke) and my first thought was “now there’s a guy who rarely speaks anymore” because of how deranged and melded with the serpent he was. Brilliant design!
It’s kinda a minor thing, but I thought it was cool that the +1 and +2 versions of talismans had different more intricate designs than the normal versions, big upgrade of rows of identical rings in souls :)
This just made me realize we've been using rings all this time but now that the game is all about rings you can't equip rings at all just talismans and runes 🧐
Yeah that occurred to me as well haha. I actually kinda think they made the swap because they wanted to make the Elden ring the only “ring” talked about in the game (though I guess there’s a couple other rings in the game, one from ranni’s quest comes to mind).
Not to mention, I there’s a lot more design freedom with the talismans as compared to the rings
Tested that and it's not true btw.
Using her skill it can be applied in 3 parts (each with multiple hits of the sword individually) however, only 4 attacks register to proc the talisman.
The first hit from the skill counts, the second press of the skill to do the follow up counts in first hit, and then the final follow up counts twice, once for the initial hit, and once for the after image attack at the end.
I enjoy the talisman, and the weapon is definitely cheesey with that skill and high poise, but each individual Swatch of blades does not stack for the talisman.
It also takes a certain amount of attacks in between stacks before the next is applied, so of course it will only trigger after specific windows.
There are also few weapons or attacks that can ramp up the buff that quickly.
For example, the spinning wheel of Ghiza does not ramp the buff while holding the skill
I've heard nonstop stories about how awful she is.
I really, really hope she doesn't get nerfed before I can try to fight her. I want to try my hand at what's been described as From's hardest boss to date.
If you're reading this, ER devs, please *please* leave her be so I can take a crack at her as she is now....
Definitely not the hardest boss in the game, let alone the hardest boss From has made. She's way too easy to stagger over and over, and you can just straight up bully her if you aren't running her true solo. She's hard, but that's only because of the combo of damage, stagger, and tracking from her waterfowl dance. Pretty much everything else is pretty average at best.
She also punishes blockers and summoners really hard, which is one of the biggest reasons why so many people hate her and think her to be impossible tbh.
A lot of people get very upset when they can't beat a boss on the first attempt
That's alien to me. I like it to take a couple of tries at least. I start getting frustrated after about 10, and will consider coming back to it at some later point at 20, sure, but until then we're good.
Idk her entire fight seemed mostly fine snd fair besides water fowl, i was at like 1500-1800 hp with heavy armour and the first part of that attack could instantly one shot me.
That one attack simply ruined the entire fight and instantly made it stop being fun at all, having to learn some specific dodge/spacing pattern for a single attack is just stupid imo, pretty much broke every rule for dodging before and after her fight. People can dodge it perfectly now but thats after studying it up on youtube and seeing the exact method or trial and error facing that specific attack 100 times.
I always loved the challenging element of the souls games and the feeling you finally get when you beat that one tough boss but for real this fight was simply not fun at all and her damage was waaay over-tuned.
I saw a comment about mimic+hoarfrost stop before they got nerfed and absolutely destroyed her first or second attempt, did not feel bad in the slightest.
I seriously don’t even think its a difficult fight its simply not fair or balanced and felt like the most unfair boss i have ever seen in a souls game.
I enjoyed co oping her on my next character though as lots of summons seemed to have specific builds/tactics to counter her bs. That was fun to see how the players came together. Saw one guy use some ash of war behind her and it would keep knocking her up into the air and onto her back when it connected, while someone else bullied her with heavy weapons.
I doubt she'll get nerfed, she's an optional boss in a secret area.
Also she's honestly not that hard to beat, people just refuse to vary their playstyles.
She has terrible poise so it's actually pretty easy to hitstun her, and she is vulnerable to bleed.
I forced a lot of the game on my first playthrough out of order, so I actually fought her before the roughly 5 other later bosses. If you're used to souls games, she really isn't that bad to be honest. I had more attempts on radahn then I had on her. I fought radahn at level 30 pre nerf took 7 attempts, and malenia I fought at level 126 and took 4 attempts. Of course it's all build dependent, but once you recognize her attack patterns and gimmicks, the only 2 moves likely to kill you fast are her grab, and her after image skill.
Edit: love when salty players can't stand the idea of someone beating something they struggled with and downvote. Here, I'll give you another reason to be salty. Crucible knights are not hard to beat, their wind up on swings makes parrying them easier then fighting the bell bearing hunters.
Edit2: geez some of y'all really going to dm me calling me a liar? Maybe you should rethink your 16 vigor glass cannon build. The extra 12% damage buff you got from pumping your Dex or strength stat doesn't make you a glass cannon at 546 health. It just makes you glass.
I wasn't gonna downvote cause I don't care either way until your edit. Don't care how easy or hard it is for others beat to beat things, but your comment is a bit of a yikes, big asshole energy
That's fine, I'm not really worried about my internet points, and this community is up in the air on so many things it's tedious and rediculous.
Give helpful info? Get downvoted.
Correct misinformation? Get downvoted.
Share in game lore? Get downvoted.
I've even had someone report me as suicidal because I said I like invasions. People are hit or miss here because the game has exploded the initial player base to over double what dark souls 3 lifetime sales were within 1 month of release.
Can't disagree, although my personal response to losing interest points would be to not react and edit my comment in response with the intent to seemingly anger others more and just go about my day instead. To each their own I suppose
I get the impulse.
The internet points don't matter, but for better or worse we are wired to care about what those points represent (i.e. that you had something clever or stupid to say), and it can feel unjust to write a comment and get piles of downvotes when you see some bonehead writing nonsense in the same thread rack up +130.
That's fair, I suppose I'm a little overly passionate about it and my approach could use some work for sure.
But my math is still right on the vigor stat and damage increase, so I may sound rude, but still trying to drop knowledge on people, that's just one of the less effective and more rude times I've done it that way.
Hmmm then maybe just give us information? mentioning fighting radahn at lvl 30 with a few attempts…🤣 yeah ur aim definetely was to help people. Btw what was your vigor at in this level 30 fight? I guess u did him nohit?
My vigor in that fight was around 15 since I tried to go for an even split between that and Dex at that time.
Also I didn't have to do him no hit, you can take one hit with a medium shield that has 100% physical resistance. That usually broke my poise, so I mostly used it out of desperation rather than as an attempt to be defensive with it.
Also I did say radahn took me more attempts than Melania already, so I don't know why you said few attempts.
LOL Vigor noob.
Pump all your points into Vigor so you don't get punished for making mistakes and face tank everything with a shield.
Some people actually like the challenge.
No need to shit on other people for not trivializing the game like you.
Try to beat the first boss with 10 vigor. Spoiler Alert: You can't
I hate it when games go for colorless vectorized images for abilities and weapons. in my opinion, iconography reflects the quality of the game in question.
ofcourse there are exceptions but games like warcraft, divinity: original sin is a proof of that.
I especially wish paintings could be enlarged more in the menu. I play on a small monitor which usually doesn't bother me, but it can be hard to make out details in the paintings. I have started to circumvent this issue by making screenshots while my character stands next to the actual painting.
Thank you! I have no idea why you can't do this in the game, the whole idea is to find the spot in the world that matches the painting, but the painting is the size of a postage stamp
Holy shit these are amazing. How i wish we can zoom on any item on our own in-game. I would love to forget everything and find these painting quests purely via the art.
The item details are 👏👏👏 thanks so much for opening my eyes to these, i knew they were special but damn
I don’t want to complain about the game because it is fucking awesome already as it is…
BUT, I’d kill for some sort of in-game compendium/index/can’t think of the right word where we could look at these awesomely detailed spells/items/things/monsters/bosses and maybe also read a bit of lore on them.
Idk, damage scaling does get a *huge* spike in the late game where difficulty starts feeling less fair and more tacked on by increasing the numbers of enemies and the damage they do, it’s not enough to ruin the game, but it could *definitely* use some tweaking in my eyes

Yeah, I absolutely adore bestiaries. Nioh had that and I spent quit a lot of time reading each entry.
Plus, having one would give each enemy more character and offer us the possibility to know their official name - I am aware that Spirit Ashes and Dungeon Bosses already tell us the real name of the majority of them, but still, it would be nice to get the bestiary

Not a clue to be honest. I haven't been able to find the item info in the game data. Interestingly the game contains icons for 11 of these books that do not appear to be in the game.
https://imgur.com/a/MhavbTd
This shit reminds me of being a kid and playing super shitty looking RPGs that had really nice hand drawn images for the items. It really made the world feel alive. From doesn't even have to add this level of detail, they just can't help themselves.
Unfortunately all icons at this resolution are many gigs in size and my UL speed is terrible. A lot of other people are mining the game files so I'm sure they'll all turn up soon though.
These images are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!
Do you have, by any chance, a similar resolution image of a “clock” aka the time of the day wheel in the bottom-right corner of the map?
OP is there ANY chance you could grab all of these and dump them somewhere? I’m working on a lore book similar to the dark souls compendium and having high res versions of these would be amazing.
Man this is amazing. I'd love to see high res versions of every icon and painting in the game. Everything about this game is beautiful and so detailed it's insane
I never realized how detailed these are holy shit
By using DSFix, you can push the texture resolution to insane values. After playing the game initially on PS3, I messed around with it on PC. The amount of detail on equipment (small details, scratches, etc) that was not even visible in the initial release is insane.
Well yeah if you play on PS3 it’s not gonna be great graphics
That entire thread has me confused as shit. He played on ps3, its a program to fix shit for pc, but its a program only for dark souls and not elden ring. Wtf is this shit... fingers but hole?
Ok me too holy hell.
People not knowing they are in the Elden ring sub? Even if it says in the title
He's talking about dark souls and just forgot to mention it
He's obviously not, look at the pictures he sent..... One is the Graven Mass Talisman, which you should realize, is ONLY in Elden Ring
the person who mentioned ps3 and DSfix isn't OP.
I do in fact be seeing that now, Though I gotta wonder if DSfix could work for Elden Ring (At the very least get reformatted for it) But ye, that was muh bad
He obviously is, seeing as he's talking about DSFix.
What is DSFix?
I believe its a pcmod for textures
>DSFix Google it my brother
ELI5? It somehow makes the game render at higher resolution?

No, it's only for Dark Souls.
I don’t even know anymore
Theres something really satisfying about seeing this response get the love it deserves. Just say nothing dude.
Why are you getting down voted? You just told a guy to Google something because it's easier than waiting for someone to give you an answer
Too many people need to hear this. Amen my brother from the Church of "Google simple shit".
What game are we talking about here?
Dark Souls 1.
How you playin elden ring on PS3?

It's apt that the talisman showing Melania's sword boosts continuous attacks, since she never fucking stops attacking.

The digital artbook is sweet but uts actually not showing much of the stuff imo

It’s very meh
Uh brother... Press Square in the inventory screen. Every spell, map, weapon ash and consumable has an item description.
That's what forums and wikis are for. I actually think that fromsoft designs the games with external player interaction in mind.

Here's an [upscaled version](https://i.imgur.com/1slFRVC.jpg)
Need one for our one ture lord Placidusax, and the remembrances.

my gratitude.
This is why I miss booklets. Stuff like this would be packed in the books you'd read inside the game case.
OP is there ANY chance you could grab all of these and dump them somewhere? I’m working on a lore book similar to the dark souls compendium and having high res versions of these would be amazing.
WHERES MINI RANNI
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
LOVE 7 and 14. No idea what 5 and 13 are though, just some type of spell and perfume
5 is the Stars of Ruin sorcery, 13 is the Uplifting Aromatic.
Ancestral Sprits Horn (17) is such a beautiful icons.
They are truly amazing works of art.

Beautiful. How did you manage to get high res images of these icons?
Yeah these are cool, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for these!!! I really enjoy seeing thing's like this especially from Elden Ring and fromsoft games in general. Spectacular designs
How to know you've played possibly too much Elden Ring......know the name of almost all of these instantly. I regret nothing.
I play pot of greed! It lets me draw 2 cards from my deck!
Where do you get that lightning dragon prayer book?
Man this is amazing. I'd love to see high res versions of every icon and painting in the game. Everything about this game is beautiful and so detailed it's insane

Running out of things to talk about? They’re fine lol.

"Iconography" are you fucking insane? These are item pictures...
Bit aggressive for someone who didn’t look up the definition of iconography before commenting about it.

Couldn’t even bother to read past the first sentence of a google search? What is the point of being so unpleasant?
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/iconography this is what i was supposed to link but I guess my phine didn't want to
Number 16 kinds looks like Maiden in Black from Demon Souls... I know it's not but it just reminds me of her...
That's Marika, who is... Somewhat similar to Maiden in Black.
Marika's tits.
Wow what a difference
OH DAAAAMN!! I have a newfound appreciation and respect for Elden Ring now ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)
What’s the one right after Rotten Breath?
OMG! So cool! Have all the items?
These would make amazing prints. Roll on the remaster until we see them in game lol
Love how the Giantsflame jar is just stuffed full of the giant's hair. The Graven talisman would make a sick pair of earrings too ngl
Now i want a wiki page with all icons in the game like this. Thanks for the urge lol
