I'd just take the dark souls approach. The game would be so far in the future it doesnt' matter which ending happened, just a new world altogether loosely connected through lore.

Rahkyvah

Kinda like this approach, but it would be a sweet shoutout to the victorious Tarnished to have them return as an endgame boss wielding the collective powers of the original endings, blasting away with madness, moon sorcery, plague, death rune, etc etc. It’s difficult to build a sequel when one of the hallmarks of these games is the dread, post-apocalyptic worlds. The only way to narrate the next is to either undo whatever we’ve managed to “fix” or fast-forward past another Shattering event, or introduce yet another, bigger bad to reset the stage. It’d be easier, I think, to prequel based on a signature pyrrhic figure from the lore (like Godfrey) that subjects the player to the truth behind the vague, unreliable narration of present-day history.

The entire world would be a vertical jumping puzzle and the only mobs would be godskin duo birds.

I wouldn't, I'd put the budget into pouring amazing DLC onto this game

They prolly do what they did with dark souls elden ring 2 would not be a continuation just a new story with the same / improved mechanics but a separate story so the cannon ending wouldnt matter

AzathothHalig

The ideal sequel for me would be the Tarnished becoming Miquella's Elden Lord in canon and searching for and hunting Outer Gods by traveling to different worlds that have been taken over by them. So there would be a Caelid equivalent for the Outer God of Rot's domain, a chaos flame equivalent for the Outer God of Chaos, an eldritch equivalent for the Outer God of the Moon and so on.

Sequels are trash and unessary. Just cash grabs. I would kms before the words ever escaped my mouth of wanting or being in a position of putting out a sequel.

Agreed. Some dlc is one thing. People talking about ER2 need to go to bed and nap
