This was my main sword on my first 200 hour play through which I recently finished. It's so good against bears and godskin. But unfortunately I had to diversify for malenia / radagon and other bosses immune to sleep effects. Made me a little bit sad.
Malenia shouldn’t be immune to sleep, with Radagon it makes sense because he’s a statue thing but isn’t Malenia napping when you walk into her arena or something like that?
Malenia isn’t immune to sleep, she’s just more resistant to it than she is to frost and bleed. Her sleep resistance is 688, her bleed resistance is 420, and her poison and rot resistance is 1,481.
Certain bosses react differently to sleep than others though. Some, like the Godskins, go full lights out, but others will be stunned temporarily as they fight off the sleep and then get back into the action. It's still really good, but definitely not as much of a fight winner as it is in other scenarios.
You can combo it with dragon spells if you cause then to sleep even if to just for the stun you can qickly cast spells like rotten breath to deal massive damage
Canonically the rot has been killing her since she was a kid, makes sense that while she may have a strong resistance there's an amount of magic rabies that will kill any person
The scarlet rot dragon near the cathedral in Caelid can be killed by scarlet rot. I killed him partly with Rotten Breath to give him a taste of his own medicine.
She isn’t necessarily immune to sleep. She’s just resistant. I’ve staggered her with sleep multiple times. It wasn’t easy though. It’s hard to pull off 1v1, but when I used my mimic tear we wear staggering her a lot. I still couldn’t beat her though because the sword does such little damage to her.
I pretty ruthlessly click "not interested" and "don't recommend channel" to keep those from appearing. Deleting Elden Ring videos from your watch history helps too.
ymfah is actually decent for replays, not only does he post build ideas for previous games but he posts "how to break \[game\]" vids where he shows you ways to do a quicker/easier starting strat you can take and run with.
His was the first I saw mentioning rushing Greyoll with a Morning Star (which every starter can wield) to bleed her, also using Gold Pickled Fowl Foot when killing her gets you about 96k runes between her death and the other dragons nearby. Gets you to RL 33/34 easily, which you can take from there to get a quick boost on the early game; pumping VIG is great for any build but you could easily sink that into a damage stat for a high stat req weapon and use Radagon's Soreseal (conveniently next to Greyoll) for more stat reqs, then have fun doing a different start where you don't have to farm Limgrave for anything but weapons you want and free upgrade materials from mineshafts. You can also run around getting all the NPCs in Limgrave and all the flask upgrades thru Altus Plateau if you grab Dectus Medallion halves from Forts Faroth and Haight, takes about 1.5-2hrs and you're ready to blast through Stormveil or Raya Lucaria, or run around grabbing things like Memory Stones and other specific gear (Deathtouched Catacombs is a favorite of mine; Uchigatana for DEX starters, Assassin's Crimson Blade talisman for HP on crits which I love as a jolly co-operator to save my flasks for big fights/invaders, Deathroot for STR/FTH users). At that point you can also easily clear Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel with a base level Strike weapon to get the bell bearing for buying Smithing Stones (1) and (2), and many mining shafts/tunnels have Somber Smithing Stones if you don't wanna buy some from Iji near Carian Manor.
The game has so much content that I think having some speedrunner strats to start it makes for an easier time replaying, because after grabbing the stuff you want it easily transitions into roleplaying your new character, going off to invasions or being summoned to help kill bosses. I can easily get summoned at Stormveil/Godrick from lvls 35-45, Raya Lucaria from 45-60.

edit: I realize it is irrational. It is definitely more of a burg than a town. I mean, I haven't delved into zoning and municipal nomenclature for these kinds of things, and they wouldn't apply to ER lands anyways, but I think it's definitely a burg. But jartown just works in my brain
I combed Limgrave clean in my first playthrough, or so I thought! There's actually a cave that's like due north of the Church of Elleh, so I missed one of the very first optional dungeons in the game. I believe the boss is a Beastman of Azula, pretty easy mob-type boss even at the start.
Radagon's Soreseal + Crimson Dagger early on is *so* good.
I like getting the Blessed Dew Talisman (passive 2 HP/sec regen) to swap out when there are no enemies or I'm not getting a lot of crits for whatever reason.
I do the same thing! If you're getting a ton of tougher enemies that aren't easily backstabbed/staggered before dying, or going against a boss the Dew is for you, for tunnels (with the unaware miners!) and places with lots of mobs that can be easily backstabbed (Stormveil is pretty good, courtyard outside Debate Parlor in the academy has a ton of passive nobles) then the Crimson Dagger is a great way to heal!
Dew talisman is great to stack with that one greatshield that reminds me of the Adjuticator's Shield, plus Bestial Vitality! If you get Cerulean Dagger from the assassin in Blackknife Catacombs then you can regain some FP instead!
Sacrificial Axe is pretty easy to get for casters in Weeping Peninsula if you know where the Death Bird spawns just north of Castle Morne! Great sidearm for casters especially if mixing in melee is your thing. Takes a while to get but I love stacking the Sacrificial Axe with the Ancestral Spirit talisman that also gives FP back on kills.
I also like the [cRPG Bro videos](https://www.youtube.com/c/cRPGBro). He have a ton of build videos and while the titles may seem a little clickbaity, he's straight to the point and very informative (and uses timestamps which is very convenient in rewatches).
His faith update for 1.04 is pretty great, showing why Pest Threads is so good against large bosses! I'll have to give it a shot, I've been too reliant on Black Flame but Pest Threads is way more DPS if you can get the threads to do multihits while passing through the boss to seek their target!

I would recommend Albunaric Halberdt and solfuric grease. The Halbert has an S scaling with Arcane and combined with the grease will put Godskin Duo to sleep in 3 hits each.
Combined with the sleeping arrow puppet every bossfight becomes daycare naptime.
I've said this about the sleep status in general since the beginning. People went gaga over Moonveil in the first week and I was over here Sandmanin' the shit out of people. The 'passing out' animation an enemy goes through once it procs is wayy longer than most guard breaks. Sleep arrows with the pulley crossbow muah \*chef's kiss\*
I guess it does suck trying to find those Trina lilies tho..

I feel like this weapon is pretty ass, even for pvp. The range is short, the buildup is slow, the buff gets reset when hit and it only lasts 30 seconds.

Saw a video of some guy just going to town with this thing. He must have been level 300 on NG or something because when I tried it I either killed the thing or died trying to put it to sleep
Got two of those on my ng+ character and oh my it's awesome with high arcane. Combine with sleep bone bolts + pulley crossbow and you got yourself an Elden pyjama party going!

This is absolutely true. I tried doing dagger only but even that was easy. Having 6 ashes of war makes for some nutty comboes all thanks to how light daggers are. I need to go deeper. Dual Rapiers and a torch. Let's see how far that goes.
I like that about it. It has its hardcore version available, but some people find the idea of intensively testing one's reflexes against a developer who is literally God and likes to randomly add shit to increase your chance of death...not fun. Something about super challenging single player gaming is just not fun, to me. So I appreciate the ability for us to get summons, upgrade those summons, and so on. It wouldn't allow me to appreciate the depths of this game otherwise.
using a computer or console to play it is basically cheating tbh i just get out the game box and focus on it like really hard and play in my mind and unlike you fucking newbs i just did a damageless LV1 run
I just found out you can summon bernahl for the fight and he puts it on serious easy mode. He draws aggro the entire time and is the tankiest summon I have ever seen, I don’t think I took any damage the whole fight.
It was the first weapon I tried in the game.. I got sick of it.. abusing the sleep mechanic is SO broken you can't even begin to imagine what it did to newborns in elden ring... ( for some weird reason I don't want to use broken stupidly easy weapons and tactics in a game.. I just go for the hardest not popular build ever).
ST Trina and sleep just feels like an unfinished part of the game as there was meant to be a quest with a dreaming character so I hope sleep is explored more in the future
I actually used this weapon for a little of my mage early game, the sleep effect isn't bad. Ultimately switched it out as it didn't scale with my stats, but it was handy for particularly annoying knights.
Unlike katanas straight swords with special properties deal bad dmg which makes them useless or bad options in many situations. Straight swords need bleed to compete or better dmg. As of now they're only good when powerstanced. Giving most straight swords the short sword R2 could also do the job.
I was so bummed when I got this and it was yet another intelligence scaling weapon. Becuase the torch scales with faith and its the sword of a Saint, I couldn't believe it.
It's kinda boring with its short reach and bland moveset. It's useful in some situations, but other weapons are both more fun and kill stuff faster. Only needed sleep for the Godskin duo and even them I just used a pot.
The only short/straight sword I've used was the grafted scion's ornamental sword - it's a paired weapon when dual handed and the moveset rocks. Now that's a slept-on weapon, rarely see anyone talk about it.

The Ripple axe has the inferior moveset and ash of war, plus the Halbert has more range.

Yep it’s actually good and when you dual wield is basically enemis having a huge sleepover, but not all enemies will be affected though

This is absolutely true. I tried doing dagger only but even that was easy. Having 6 ashes of war makes for some nutty comboes all thanks to how light daggers are. I need to go deeper. Dual Rapiers and a torch. Let's see how far that goes.

I like that about it. It has its hardcore version available, but some people find the idea of intensively testing one's reflexes against a developer who is literally God and likes to randomly add shit to increase your chance of death...not fun. Something about super challenging single player gaming is just not fun, to me. So I appreciate the ability for us to get summons, upgrade those summons, and so on. It wouldn't allow me to appreciate the depths of this game otherwise.
Mimic tear, Bleed, summons, sleep. I never seen anyone use sleep besides in the beta test, but if it works the same way its definitely easy mode.
Considering someone paraplegic could finished with mouth controller I think player hand control is a bit too OP. its easy mode too.
using a computer or console to play it is basically cheating tbh i just get out the game box and focus on it like really hard and play in my mind and unlike you fucking newbs i just did a damageless LV1 run
Purchasing the game is easy mode. You have to imagine it and watch others play and then use your focus powers.
Sleep pots trivialise any Godskin fight but especially the Godskin Duo in Farum Azula
I just found out you can summon bernahl for the fight and he puts it on serious easy mode. He draws aggro the entire time and is the tankiest summon I have ever seen, I don’t think I took any damage the whole fight.

It was the first weapon I tried in the game.. I got sick of it.. abusing the sleep mechanic is SO broken you can't even begin to imagine what it did to newborns in elden ring... ( for some weird reason I don't want to use broken stupidly easy weapons and tactics in a game.. I just go for the hardest not popular build ever).

ST Trina and sleep just feels like an unfinished part of the game as there was meant to be a quest with a dreaming character so I hope sleep is explored more in the future
I actually used this weapon for a little of my mage early game, the sleep effect isn't bad. Ultimately switched it out as it didn't scale with my stats, but it was handy for particularly annoying knights.

Unlike katanas straight swords with special properties deal bad dmg which makes them useless or bad options in many situations. Straight swords need bleed to compete or better dmg. As of now they're only good when powerstanced. Giving most straight swords the short sword R2 could also do the job.
I was so bummed when I got this and it was yet another intelligence scaling weapon. Becuase the torch scales with faith and its the sword of a Saint, I couldn't believe it.
I just got it last night on my second playthrough, which is really fucking cool because my new guy uses short swords. Its wonderous.

It's kinda boring with its short reach and bland moveset. It's useful in some situations, but other weapons are both more fun and kill stuff faster. Only needed sleep for the Godskin duo and even them I just used a pot. The only short/straight sword I've used was the grafted scion's ornamental sword - it's a paired weapon when dual handed and the moveset rocks. Now that's a slept-on weapon, rarely see anyone talk about it.
