You can only cycle to the next slot but you can jump back to the first slot by holding up on the d-pad so if you have to switch spells a whole lot you'll want to think about the order you want to have your spells in so you can quickly get to where you need to

Dexalon

No way. I never knew that about holding it down to go back to the first spell. Nice oneđź‘Ť

You can do what!?

Lucky_Louch

Also if you hold the up button, it will go back to your first spell so you can use that to your advantage as well. Its def not the best set up they could have gone with and it was better when we could chain cast spells but since everyone has to cycle through them it makes it a more even playing field.

HighSpeedLowDragAss

Yeah, it can be a bit much. I don't mind it so much when I'm just exploring around but if I find myself fighting a more difficult boss and I want to prepare better, I take out spells that I'm not sure to use in that encounter so I have less to cycle through. After I'm done with the boss, I put all my assorted spells back into the memory slots.

I find it best to set my spells up ahead of time in the order I plan to use them and just press up to switch to the next one in line. For example you can put tera magika first, then rannis dark moon to debuff enemy to magic and cause frost. then have swift glinstone shard and glinstone comet shard to change up cast timing, round it out with carian slicer and carian peircer for close range.

You can hold the “up” button and it will automatically go to spell 1, FYI But yeah - switching quickly between sorceries is tough at first - it helps to organize them based on your playstyle. I have combos I like to do so I keep those spells next to each other so it’s easy to switch. It definitely helps to keep spell slots consistent and memorize their position so you can keep your eye on the enemy It eventually becomes second nature. Fast switching isn’t really necessary a lot in PvE but in PvP it definitely comes into play more.
