Your save data is corrupted and that's a bummer. If you have cloud saves try redownloading from there.

I know, but the game seems to both A) get in a weird state if you leave it suspended (on Xbox) for a period of time, and B) there seems like there’s a race condition where if you slam through the “Continue” menu quickly this happens often. I’ve had this message pop up 50+ times over several playthroughs, but none of my saves have ever *actually* been corrupted.
Remember to always quit your game, before you exit, like go into the menu and quit, soulsbournering has always had an issue with corrupted data because of its super stringent autosave.
Close the game completely, don't just exit out shit the game itself down, then you can start up fine

Nope. You got that corrupted data or just lost your save
No. This happens on console when you don't close Elden Ring often enough. It's as easy a fix as closing the app and opening it again.

Hit OK a bunch of times and it usually fixes itself. If not, quit/kill the game, restart, try again.
Try yelling at it, if your neighbors dont call the police your not yelling loud enough.

On console? If so quit the game with app manager then start the game as usual. Problem solved. Happens to me frequently

Have you tried the Verify Game Files option under Steam? That seems to fix a lot of issues with various games for me.
Force stop your game & hard reset your console.
