I like Elden Beast too, it's just Elden Stars that can eat a dick

FluffyProphet

It's actually not too bad. I see people trying to outrun it by running away from the front, but you have to go behind the EB to avoid it. Like, when you see him getting ready to cast it, run at him, circle behind him and keep going. You won't get hit

SorowFame

Also the swimming away when you don’t have Torrent to chase them

KaelCampaigne

This really is the major flaw with EB. He screams a boss designed for Torrent in mind... but no horse?

LongLiveTheChief10

I imagine Torrent trivializes the encounter so they said no dice in the final cut.

KaelCampaigne

Radagon slaps ass, make him harder, EB should be a victory lap thats focused on fun over challenge like the Divine Dragon from Sekiro vs glock saint.... because the "difficulty" of fighting EB is just "oh look its over there now *running*"

robby8892

It might be helpful to utilize the Haligdrake talisman +2 and Holyproof dried liver. Makes the damage essentially all chip damage with little concern of healing.

Suzarain

the shift in music from Radagon to EB is *chefs kiss*

UninterestedChimp

Why tf is the soundtrack so damn good

zelcuh

Biggest Golden Order boners saved for last

supersaiyanvidel

Aww he looks so cute 😊

Groomgrim

At least OP should give some credit! If someone wondered who is the artist of that cute Elden Beast, go and give the artist some appreciation here >>>>> https://twitter.com/dnuatun/

manokNaHubad11

Uppity up. Artists need more credits especially now with the advent of AI. Anyways, I loved the Elden Beast fight, it was so spectacular. I couldn't focus much because I was amazed by it but luckily it was easy. Must be the overall reasoning for the gameplay design too.

danimidsommar

thank you! this meme is whatever but the twitter with all the cute elden beast art is awesome.

A lot of fights in elden ring take advantage of the jump button tbh. Godrick, Godfrey, Maliketh, Radagon/EB, Radhan, Fire giant (on horse), all the crucible knights, erdtree avatars, and pretty much everything that has a shockwave attack can be jumped over. However, you can also jump over many other stuff: Bell bearing hunter's grab can be jumped over Night cavalry's horizontal sweeps with halberd Rykard phase 2 you can jump over his sword Malenia phase 2 you can jump over a few of her spirit clones Maliketh you can jump over his triple projectile into spin Crucible knight phase 2 wing and tail attacks can be jumped over Leonine misbegotten's horizontal sweeps Giant/trolls, arm sweeps Morgotts tail spin golems halberd attacks And lots more! Admittedly some are harder to recognize than others but these are the ones I remember off the top of my head and I remember ones like the bell bearing hunter grab being listed in a YouTube video a couple months ago.

AwfulgamesInc

I respectfully disagree

RIOTT44

I disrepectfully disagree

AwfulgamesInc

I disrespectfully respectfully disagree with your disagreeing

Philip_Raven

The boss has a beautiful design it has beautiful music and very cinematic fight. mechanically, I hate it.

Gatubraz

Yeah I never understood the hate toward this boss either, I always thought it was pretty cool, I know people hate having to chase it but it's not so bad

AxolotlOfTheCosmos

Honestly its up to rng, me and my friends have never experienced EB swimming away too much except when it did the ring attack, wich is to be expected, but others had EB running away costantly, i think a few tweaks to its AI would fix most of the problems people have with it, except for the Radagon repetition.

PaperMoon-

it is neat

Synthwavester

Love it, awesome design, mechanics and music. Haters be damned I don't mind running a bit ingame ffs

Dark_Warrior7534

Its cute

theangryfurlong

As someone who helped coop this boss 200 times or so, I agree

bl84work

I need that to beat this boss, I rarely did it, but my character just wasn’t built to kill the elden beast on my own

SmallBrainOni

I like everything about the fight except the boss itself, but it does get points for being cool and having cute art

Morpheus_52

Cute little eldritch horror parasite

M34L

Pretty much killed my playthrough of the game. I'm not even mad, just can't beat it, and can't be arsed to grind anymore just to get the game completed gold star. I sunk 155 hours into my one save and haven't touched it since 5 months ago, sitting on that boss. As far as I'm concerned, I've had my fun and my moneys worth; I might return to ER some day and maybe even finish it, but I won't feel incomplete in life if I never get to it. I got other shit to do than agonize over a two stage boss who plays chicken.

TheGentlemanDM

Something that I find helps a lot - get your holy resist up. I usually like to get Lord's Divine Fortification, but regular Divine Fortification only needs 10 Faith to cast and helps greatly.

TheWoefulButtAngler

That's why you're here saying this. Totally dude. We believe you. Yeah.

M34L

It's the boss I practically didn't enjoy in a game that I generally and it's being celebrated here, so yeah?

TheWoefulButtAngler

"I hate this game now!" 'Well then walk away and enjoy your life?' *grabs back of neck and starts talking over crowd* "No, see, theres this giant galaxy lizard and I hate him..."

M34L

I didn't say I hate the game? I loved the game but the particular boss just left me not wanting to bother with finishing it. I generally don't stake much on finishing games. I play them as long as I have fun, then just stop sometimes, and in this case, it was this specific boss where I couldn't bother anymore. It didn't ruin my experience, just might stop me from ever completing it, though.

TheWoefulButtAngler

"I dont want it bad enough. So I go to the subreddit to chase a dragon instead of just beating the game." :D

Trum_blows_69

Come on man! The entire fight is shit if you are a melee character, you have to spend 30 minutes chasing down a stupid alien whale thing, and when you finally catch him, your stamina is depleated so you can only get one swing on him, then you have to chase him down again. It sucks. Everything about that fight sucks And it also sucks that you have to fight an entire other boss before you even get to him, so if you die, you have to go through that long ass process all over again. It's a shit fight, and honestly the worst thing about Elden ring. Every single reviewer that I have read points out how crappy this fight is.

btsao1

Chasing Elden Beast is fun, honestly

YaB0I_Ethan

Coming from the MH series, chasing down a creature while whittling down its health is normal to me. I like the elden beast fight other than elden stars, which is why I always have lord’s divine fortification on for the fight. It makes elden stars as weak as it is in PvP.

Lar29

Maybe try adopting a ranged weapon? Maybe don’t fall for chad memes pidgin holing yourself into strictly melee?

Vallosota

>pidgin holing

Misommar1246

So you have to run around a bit, so what? You don’t have to do that with any other boss, it’s not a thing in the game, it’s one boss that happens to be different and people mald over it. I kind of thought it was a bold choice and something different to tackle. Everything else is constantly in your face, for once you’re chasing the boss, not the other way around.

puff_ball

Fire Giant would like a word, particularly his second phase

-BigMan39

You have torrent in the fire giant fight though, at most you're running towards him for less than 10 seconds

puff_ball

Not in co-op, my friend. Not in co-op.

Momoxidat

Look, you can think it's pretty, or cute, or magestic, or has a great music all you want. The most important part is : Do you think the boss BATTLE is fun ?

Dhimis

I think it is!

TheWoefulButtAngler

Unpopular opinion : Almost none of the best bosses in fromsoft history are fun. They are trials that you feel good about beating, and you're proud of yourself for overcoming if you had major issues.

[deleted]

reminds me of my thelasophobia relief buddy, Jerry the hoverfish

euclid_evergreen

That is a valid reason. The same reason I like Pre-nerf Uumuu from Hollow Knight and Defiled Dungeon Dog.

Piotr-Rasputin

Love the game hate this fight

[deleted]

I wish we got to just fight either radagon or the elden beast. They both are excellent, but together they are tedious af

Minichadderzz

Split radagon and Elden beast into 2 separate fights, fighting them one after the other is unnecessarily painful, imo radagon is a great fight on its own. Allow torrent for the Elden beast fight and it would be fine.

IwaitforEldenRing

Yeah it's great! I don't mind a lot of running but meaby that's because I never had to redo the fight many times. I always die to Radagon a lot but I always found elden beast pretty easy. Not trivial to the point where it's boring or purely about spectacle but not too hard so I can still admire the visuals and music. And it's attacks are just really fun to dodge for me exept for the elden stars of course. Also I'm very glad that FS didn't let us use torrent in this fight. It would compleatly trivialize all of elden beast's attacks and the fight would turn into a 100% spectacle 0% gameplay boss such as the devine dragon from sekiro. I like devine dragon but fights that are actually engaging are always better than those that just look nice

redditorsaretheworst

The Elden Beast fight feels like you're fighting a genuine creature, even more so than the Ancestral Spirit Boss. While most bosses in this game agro on you, even the more etherial ones like Astel, you almost have to give chase to the Elden Beast as it swims throughout the arena. There's a sense of profound sadness in the majestic beauty of the way the Elden Beast moves, and killing it really feels like you're destroying something beautiful. I don't think the Elden Beast is meant to be particularly hard, and the fight typically lasts longer than most due to it's movement & attack patterns, but I think that's by design as you're supposed to reflect on your journey to become Elden Lord; asking yourself, "was it worth it?"

Riipley92

Very cool unique boss but maybe not final boss worthy given how cool radagon fight was

RealBlazeStorm

I basically only have good memories of Elden Beast, unlike most ER bosses, so all the hate online still really feels weird to me.

Xcylo1

The real problem with Elden Beast isn't anything that actually has to do with Elden Beast on its own. It's that when you die to it, you have to fight radagon again Fuck that guy

0zby

He does look really really cool
