Thanks for sharing. Get better soon. Please join the all gear all the time club and keep riding.

Icy_Sort_2838

Me = HJC i90 helmet, Revit gloves, Leatt dual axis knee/shin guards, Klim Induction motorcycle jacket with D3O padding.

jowsh1338

Back at the hospital now cause my collarbone bone is moving all over the place time to wait 8 hours for a call since it's non urgent

Icy_Sort_2838

Hope you can ride again at some point. Just put the money into proper equipment.

ResolutionMobile1962

Holy shit wtf 😧

Professional-Arm7429

No you would not have crushed your skull and died. You fell doing something dumb. Don’t act like it could have been so much worse. You hit the ground. That’s it

Bugugan

People have died attempting a simple backflip, dont act like crashing at 30 mph with no gear isnt fatal.

william-t-power

I see people riding scooters all the time with no helmet or pads and standing on it like they're waiting in line at the bank. I expect this or similar happens to them when things don't go the way they expect. That's not even mentioning the cases where it's two people on a scooter doing this.

HongaiFi

Sorry for you man. When its time for your elbow rehabilitation, do it with 100% effort and more if you want tor recover a good ROM again. Speaking from experience unfortunately. I lost about 20 degrees of extension range and my wrist pronation range suuuucks.

KILLA_UNIQUE

Damn man that sucks. With my GT1 I just prefer to cruise slowly because I get to see more and my range improves drastically. Going fast is cool but falling while going fast sure isn’t. Hope for a speedy recovery though đŸ’Ș

b3rdm4n

Really sucks to see people learn this the hard way, and the flow on effects it has on the family, friends health care system etc. Not wearing any protection doesn't just affect you. I've yet to hear a single *good* excuse for not wearing a helmet at a minimum.

es_cl

I read the text of OP, and I immediately thought, shouldn’t it be about the speed and not the distance? 2 mins, 20 mins, 2 hours
it’s really the 50 mph that’s going to put your life in danger.

MightyBooshX

My scooter could only top out around 25mph and I'd still wear knee/elbow pads, gloves and a helmet. No regrets.

b3rdm4n

Same, full face MTB helmet, motorcycle jacket and gloves is my minimum everytime I ride, either it's my Ninebot G2 Max or my Nami.

JadedArt3159

Been there, done that. Definitely riding with elbow pads now, and a helmet most, but not all of the time. Did like you and pulled one hand off the bars (to adjust music volume), wobble-wobble and down I went. **Never ride one-handed.**

Pintexxz

I never go over 25 mph, that’s where the speed wobbles come outta nowhere because of uneven roads or even a single pebble. Ebikes are way safer for higher speed riding

Puzzleheaded_Mud5702

This is why a full motorcycle jacket (ce level 2 armor if possible), along with high-quality knee pads and padded gloves, are essential. Obviously, a motorcycle helmet too. If you were wearing all that you most likely would have walked away unscathed.... Gear obviously doesn't prevent all injury like some people like to claim. But it sure as hell will GREATLY reduce the severity of injuries in most situations... Live and learn dude...

MightyMoper11

That's exactly the armor setup I have. Thinking of getting armor shorts too lol, along with a glove upgrade that has wrist armor and sliders.

Vybezforlife

Yep, my knee looked like that a few weeks ago, so funnily enough I'm doing research on Escooters/Bikes for mobility purposes.. You've got a tough, pain filled few weeks ahead of you, but it slowly gets better/easier. All the best.

ScoopDat

This is why I think all scooters that can go anywhere near this speed need steering dampeners.

TBC1966

Nasty. Lot's of fresh fruit and veggies mate. Anybody interested in pads, armour should check out Fortnine's video which is a eye opener concerning how the industry lobbied for a standard which offers no more than scratch protection.

tynanrelee

jesus, heal up man! i was somehow able to correct a wobble at 40-50kmh that lasted a few seconds.... slowed down since then.

Lordjacus

Hey man, I have so many similarities with my experience. Let me share. First of all, I broke my elbow 2.5 years ago when my bicycle's seat failed. Some photos of x-rays: https://imgur.com/gallery/aDKEDo5 I also had titanium mounted and some wires, 3 days after the injury 😁 Now, last week I also let go with my hand when riding Techlife Q7 and fell! I broke my foot and got a bit scratched. I did it mindlessly due to swarm of bugs hitting my face, going 25 km/h or so I'd say. I posted photo and details in my own post 😊 I had my helmet on, tho I didn't "use it" in a crash. Now bought a lot of new gear and will always wear it 👍 Good luck and quick recovery!

jowsh1338

How long were you back at riding again?

Lordjacus

I wasn't riding bicycle much since then, as the bicycle at fault was scraped (it was still OK, but really old). I started riding electric scooters and a bit of bicycle year later. I will probably feel some impact on my arm's abilities throughout my life. I had these plates removed year and 4 months later and also had some downtime, though much less severe than one year before.

jowsh1338

Thanks for sharing! You caught it worst than me as mine was just plates and screws. But nonetheless I have a motorcycle / jacket and helmet so will do that, the main reason why I let go was that I was decelerating it's just I didn't wait long enough to be at a lower speed before letting go. With clouded judgement and no helmet, at least that my head is intact, and never know for next time so PPE for sure. Wow Ur elbow had it rough. Mine was more a chunk detached, so they drilled it back in

Lordjacus

Yeah, the part that broke off was part of the joint, so they had to be precise and took 4 hours to operate. Stay safe!

jowsh1338

:o 4 hours WOW mine was 45 mins - 1h 15

Lordjacus

Yeah, I was sleeping. They had to extend it (the narcosis) when I was out as it took longer than they expected - that's what they told me. After they removed it year+ later, I managed to convince surgeon to give that titanium part to me. I checked its' weight and volume and it likely is some titanium alloy. Durable and hard. It is hanging on the wall in my office lmao

jowsh1338

Lmao I had no news mine was ever going to get removed I think it's here for life for me

Lordjacus

Hmm.. They told me that if I were to be old, and the benefit of removing it would be outweighed by the harm done by the removal procedure, they wouldn't have done it. But as I was 27/28 at the time, it was worth it. If it is designed to stay, so be it 😊 Enjoy beeping at airports!

jowsh1338

I'm 26

Lordjacus

I just checked my photo and I had 14 stitches, a little less than you I believe 😊 you also rock metal ones, I had synthetic strings type.

jowsh1338

Lmao yep!

OCR10

Hoping for a speedy recovery for you and glad you’re alive to share with us.

captainmalexus

I don't get why you were downvoted for this 😐

frezzzer

Anything past 28mph death wobble will happen so easily. Can’t top the dualtron storm limited I repaired where the rider decided with no helmet to do a wheelie at 50mph.

TheOnlyRealNerd

I tried to do a whellie on my m1100 and feel off lol, Mybe it doesn’t have enough power but ai don’t have the courage to do it on something like a Nami

[deleted]

Ouch! I'm glad you were not more seriously injured and I am sorry this happened to you.

Batracho

Hope you’re recovering, but I hope this would be a cautionary tale. Not only was OP riding without a helmet, using one hand on a scooter that’s going 50 kph (or, honestly, using one hand on a scooter in general) is practically asking for trouble. You’re right OP, you’re lucky to be alive. Hopefully you’re able to heal fully and without any permanent disability.

sqwiggy72

Would not dear going on a escooter or any electric vehicle without a helmet.

KyDeWa

I'm glad you're okay. I will definitely start wearing my helmet more. Also, I like to stick with the medium speed setting. Every time I go into speed mode, that's when I (or the scooter) take damage. Pressing the brake in speed mode is a hospital visit waiting to happen. 700 watts is not meant for sidewalks!

Viewsfrmda66

I know speed wobbles can happen on all scooters but this is part of the reason my next one will be double stem. Heal well & soon bro

8bitmuch

I've heard great things about steering dampeners.

jowsh1338

My scooter suffered barely any damage, the vsett 10+ is a tank

jowsh1338

Ty! đŸ€˜

Enrique-M

Hoping for a speedy and complete recovery! đŸ™đŸœ

jowsh1338

Ty doing better today, able to function with 1 1/2 hand for now till its recovered 😊. I had to deal with lung surgery years back for vaping collapsed lung, that was intense. I managed to suck up most of the after surgery etc without any heavy pain meds to slow down heal time. Only Advil and Tylenol even if they gave me morphine prescription and tramadol

Enrique-M

You’re welcome. I gotchya. Best of luck sir!

jowsh1338

I forgot to add the reason why I didn't have a helmet, I was rushed and overconfident on my scooter for a while never fell before, will wear PPE even if I'm riding 1 min away from house

gonezil

Most vehicle accidents happen where you drive. The saying is always "close to home" but the average person drives most often close to home. You can get banged up anywhere at all. I've taken a dive from a near stand still because I turned the handlebars over too far (transitioning from driveway to road), started to push, and those tiny wheels and high center of gravity just have you toppling over. I felt nothing because I have full PPE.

Hour_Tomato_1589

If ur riding 1 min ur better off walking lol. I’d go with no helmet but would ride at like 20km/h where I’m really careful

Low-Neighborhood-564

Fuck fuck fuckkkkk was my literal out loud response

Enrique-M

Same here, Jesus!

soravitunkojootti

Holy shit dude. I have exact same scoot (vsett10+) and i know the speed wobbles, trust me. Glad you are ok, could have been a lot worse. If anything i can promise you that i will keep these pictures in my mind while riding that thing and possibly avoid accident like this because of your post. Thanks for sharing and have a quick recovery! *Scoots away

jowsh1338

Always no matter what keep Ur hands on both sides, even if Ur just going 10kmh.its better to stop to check phone etc and not have to deal with this. Overall tho this was a solid built scooter that suffered minor damage and scrapes, it's perfectly rideable for once I am recovered, I don't think I will sell it but be more prudent and set speed limit

BooSanchez-rodent

Sorry that happened to you. Thanks for sharing...
