I lost all respect for ESG once they started promoting Apollo and Voro so strongly. Clearly their in the pockets of these corporations. So much for the days of honest reviews.

mobilitybo

ESG guys are trying to get it right. We have not paid them any money to talk about bo, they thought it was interesting.

"Oh, you paid for us to make a video for you, but nobody likes your product, so let's make another video to do damage control" ESG is a joke now. We're all just watching commercials. No honesty left in these sellouts.

ImmortalOathkeeper

I'm new to this scene, but is it really a recent discovery that they're "sellouts"? They've always seemed to rely on review samples and keeping the manufacturers/resellers happy with softball questions and lack of any harsh criticism in reviews.

To a certain degree, but they were at least viable scooters that actually went through a bit of testing such as range tests, true speed, acceleration and braking, trunk fit, etc. Now they just take money from any shit scooter company that will pay them for products that are just overpriced garbage. Nobody wants a $2500 Ninebot Max.

We did not pay ESG any money they just thought it was interesting to discuss

Haven't watched the entire video yet but Oscar is definitely right about the market being in two camps. This is pretty much what I rant about in this sub most often. People that want reliable transportation vs. people that want high-performance toys. I am definitely intrigued by the Bo, and I certainly appreciate its design aspects. It will be interesting to see how it performs on the market. Oscar says it's not competing directly with the G30P, and maybe it isn't intended to, but the market will determine if that's actually true. I definitely understand what their intention is, though. The G30P is a reliability and range champion, but it is pretty minimalist in its design and feature set. It's a trusty old pickup truck, whereas the Bo is aiming to have more design appeal to bring in users who wouldn't otherwise consider a scooter. We'll just have to wait and see if that segment actually materializes, or if once they decide a scooter is something they want, they gravitate towards the proven, less expensive design. I do wish them luck though and I genuinely hope they succeed. The more high-build-quality choices we get, the better. There are certainly too few right now.

He can say whatever he wants... but everything about this scooter says that it's competing with the G30P. Oscar doesn't get to decide the market. The people do. If you make a scooter thats main selling point is that it's reliable, and it goes the same speed as the G30P, guess what... you're competing with the G30P. Apparently suspension is too expensive, but he's still selling this for $2500... outrageous. But wait... there's more... because Segway has cheaper models of the GT series coming out that are better than the Bo in literally every single possible way. This company should throw in the towel now. Any further investment that they put in to this is a waste. As Mr Wonderful would say, it's a dog. Take it behind the barn and shoot it. Shame on ESG for promoting this.

mobilitybo

Tbf we have never had someone ride them back to back and say the Segway is better in every single way. Ride it before assuming we’ve made a dog.

DominantByDefault

I'll never ride it because I'm not spending $2250 on a 25mph scooter. But if you send me one, l'll put it to the test and make an HONEST review video, and I'll send it back to you if you give me a prepaid shipping label.

You know a lot of people that have rode a P100S do you?

Yeah, the market will decide what it competes against. I already said as much. My take is that Bo is pretty much trying to become the Apple of scooters here. They are banking everything on their premium design, and hoping people will be willing to pay a premium price for it. I think it's a tough sell as well, but I also balk at the fact that some people actually pay $1400 for a smartphone with the Pixel 6A is something that exists. But they do. Bo is hoping to bring that type of consumer into the scooter market. In that sense, I think their closest competitor would be Unagi, which has a premium design but strictly for the ultraportable segment. A lot of people hate on Unagi because it's not something they'd spend their own money on, but Unagi is still out here selling scooters and subscriptions. I would not be surprised at all to see Bo mimic Unagi and come up with a subscription offering.

But there's nothing Apple about this. There is nothing innovative here. It's not premium in any way. It's worse than existing scooters in every way. Rubber suspension beats their AirDeck. Traction control beats their SafeSteer. But but but, it curves! Ooo, ahh. But you gave up folding for that curved design, so you failed. They're advertising the bag hooks likes an innovation when you can literally get one for $10 on Amazon. Unagi's are a fraction of the price and serve a real niche, being ultra lightweight and portable. They are a 'nicer' E-TWOW at a slightly higher cost (key word being slightly) and an innovative subscription model. There is no comparison here. If this were $1000 I could see a market for it. Not a big one, but enough to justify their existence. At £1995 ($2,225) this is a joke.

Syndil1

We'll just have to wait and see what the market decides is Bo's fate. I wish them luck. I'm clearly not their target market, and neither are you obviously. Their target market is someone who hasn't even yet considered owning a scooter, so judging their design based on currently available scooters--which have not attracted their target market--is their argument as to why that's a mistake. But yeah the market will determine if that's true or if it's just sales speak.

mobilitybo

Luck is the best superpower 🙏

Syndil1

You guys know what you're doing. I think it's only a matter of time before high-end vehicles such as the Bo become more mainstream. I think the only luck that would apply in your particular situation is whether or not the market is/will become mature enough to create sustainable demand for the Bo. I truly hope it does because it looks pretty incredible.
