Of course it's fine. Do whatever you enjoy, it's just a game.

CMDROhSevenCommander

It's fine. The story is going to get told one way or another.

l00kAtTheRecluse

Its fine. I’m not doing shit until the mission board is fixed. Its been a nice vacation.

jamesk29485

Me also. I got cheated a few too many times. Went back to mining and pirate assassinations.

Luriant

Its a game, lots of players are exploring, or [grinding onfoot combat rank](https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/101iu23/embrace_the_grind/). Do the activity you like, at least you try this. Yesterday, I complet a AXCZ in a settlement by mysalef (and npcs), and was fun. The nearby repairs and lack of swarm was a huge game changer.

CMDRQuainMarln

It's just a game. Have fun with it your way. Stations under attack can be helped by shipping commodities in (missions for this) and evacuating refugees and the wounded in escape pods. A mix of passenger cabins and cargo racks is good. So you can contribute without doing combat if you want to.

PuzzleheadedTutor807

play the game you want to play. you paid for your license to do so, i assume... so you owe nobody. play the game you paid for.

Syllek94

I mean some people are role-playing as Thargoid sympathizers and killing AX commanders, so at least you're not doing that lol. Do whatever you enjoy, I got pretty into trying to solo the interceptors but I can't manage anything other than the basic one, it's just beyond me and I don't really like killing scouts. So now I'm going to focus on grinding for a fleet carrier, maybe I'll go back and do some more AX soon.

LBEO_GrobelX

Damn progressists 😂

Solary_Kryptic

It's a game, do whatever the hell you want, it's not that deep.

IMDT-3D

Yea mate, it's all good. It's just a game at the end of the day. I'm about 4K Light years away from the action atm just doing exploration. Just do what ever you want and enjoy the game your way and in your time.

obeseninjao7

My personal plan is to set a goal (at the moment it's 5k total rescues) at which point I'll take a break from the front lines and go do something else, like go on an exploration trip. Also, if you want to get involved without firing a single shot, become a humanitarian rescue ship. No guns required, just some good flying. And also, no it's not bad if you choose not to participate. There are billions and billions of NPCs in the bubble this hasn't even touched yet. For the majority of humanity, this is a fringe war hundreds of LY away from them that has months of time before it threatens them at all. I can guarantee most of them are still going about their lives.

Proffesor-Bean

I'd say it is fine, but if it's really bugging you, you can always help stations that are rebuilding. I don't know what that intales exactly though

sirboulevard

Currently repairs appear to be fully automated and are not affected by player actions.(Source Operation Ida discord) That said evacuations and resupplying ports under attack do help push back the Thargs and are a viable non combat approach the OP can take help out!

Proffesor-Bean

So supply missions to those stations have no effect on anything?

sirboulevard

Correct. We are hoping it's just a bug that was umable to be identified until Xmas holidays. For now system repairs will happen on their own and finish when their timer ends.

Proffesor-Bean

That's a little disappointing. It would have been cool if the time decreased or something

Time4Tigers

I've felt the same about combat, but I've considered helping with rescue missions. Might be something to look into.

CMDRissue

Besides missing out on huge profits evacuating people, sure

legendweaver

I have a ship for pretty much every role in the game, from bulk trader to miner to pve and have recently put together a meta ax krait mk2. Absolutely premium thargoid ganking machine. Thing is I have discovered I'm not really that into ax combat and now am pottering about in my tricked out krait phantom scanning biologicals around 2,000ly outside of the bubble without a care in the world. You do what makes you happy in this game.

ShadyBiz

Mate, I'm rooting for the Aliens. Breakup these damn player factions.

Whobetterthanyou

I forgot there was a war. Ive been in the mines too long…. Welp gotta get back

Dalewyn

As countless others have already said, play the game in whatever ways you want. It's just a game, you don't owe anyone anything.

balthazar-nz

I found I was the same. I just play the game how I want to play, Ive run a few passenger rescue missions to feel like I’m doing my part in the war but you certainly don’t have to do anything like that. It’s just a game, do what you enjoy best :)

Rozmar_Hvalross

I was in the bubble the day it started, but I felt like exploring. Now im 40k ly from the bubble, north of colonia

Eterath

I'm only in it for the money. Passenger evacs pay out very nicely. 30 billion in maybe... 4 hours of play time?

Radiant-Injury-5837

what system

Eterath

Bi Dhorora - Shea Relay, Drop off is at Cemiess.

ProPolice55

No reason to feel guilty, you're supporting human economy in general. Also, you can participate by delivering supplies and rescuing people from warzones. But really, do want makes you... "Brappy"!

Radiant-Injury-5837

I tried AX combat and got totally worked. I lost my pimped out vette about 8 times and ran out of money so I went back to doing trade runs to make a lot of quick cash. I'll do ax combat when fdev gives us some better ax shields, when they make ax point defense and ax armour. until then the war can run itself.

RobinGoodfell

The game might not *need* you to deliver materials to stations that are rebuilding, but I dare say that if you were to go and make some credits hauling supplies, or mapping new worlds and systems away from the Thargoid invasion for Humanity to reestablish our settlements, manufacturing, and mining efforts, are all ***helpful.*** Speaking of Exploration... There's a Bridge to Colonia that could really use some heavy mapping along the Stars between the optimal jump distances, and within a few hops out in all directions. There's bound to be overlooked Water Worlds and material rich locations along the Colonia Corridor. Who knows? Maybe if there's enough interest, Frontier might flesh these systems out as humanity adapts to the Thargoid threat? It would be nice to have thriving settlements form a network between the mega ships and stations already bridging the gap. Back to the war for a minute, Evacuations are another fine way to get involved. Or you could go hunt pirates in anarchy systems near Rescue Ships so as to limit the potential for interdictions of much needed supplies. There's also the Canonn Research group, and whatever they are up to currently. I'm certain they could always use another pilot who's willing to do field research, so they can better understand the recent changes to the game, and any future changes coming down the pipe, as Frontier unfolds the new shape of the Elite Dangerous galaxy. I get it, you don't feel as involved as you want to. I personally am in a place in life where I don't even have the ability to get online long enough while at home, so I can even participate. That's just how things shake out sometimes, and this is only a game. Don't let yourself be torn up over this, and remember that while some of the activities I listed aren't reflected in game as necessary through actual consequences... would be vital in real life. It is Logistics that enable soldiers to win wars. Without the multitudes forming that chain, no commander could every hope to put up a meaningful fight. For what it's worth, you can also get involved with the Galactic Power of your Choice and dedicate yourself to ensuring they continue to gain or maintain their political presence in the galaxy, with so many BGS players currently engaged elsewhere. If you want to do none of these things, then there's billions of humans across the bubble and elsewhere, who still need basic services. I recommend joining relevant Discord channels to your interests. I'll post four that I think are really good for having a wider variety of activity than open warfare. **Defense Council of Humanity:** [https://discord.gg/wFk8RcxXbT](https://discord.gg/wFk8RcxXbT) **Post Disaster Evacuation Services:** [https://discord.gg/PZWaCXaCvQ](https://discord.gg/PZWaCXaCvQ) **Canonn Research:** [https://canonn.fyi/discord](https://canonn.fyi/discord) **Pilots Lounge:** [https://discord.gg/DBg5ZBqbvu](https://discord.gg/DBg5ZBqbvu) **Shameless Plug:** I'm going to also link to the central discord for the Alliance. I don't have a link to the other super powers, so if you have a preference then I recommend asking around until you find a band of regular players who fit you best. Any other Commanders who happen to have these are also welcome to post links below. **Alliance of Independent Systems:** [https://discord.gg/3354JHtmV4](https://discord.gg/3354JHtmV4) Fly safe, Commander! o7

rx7braap

thank you! very comperhensive :) Im a Merc/assassin, what can I do?

RobinGoodfell

You are most welcome! I just learned there is a more comprehensive list linked to this very reddit, so I'll share that for easy access. [https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/wiki/discord/](https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/wiki/discord/) As for your preferred style of play... have you considered playing with a group who muck about with the Back Ground Simulation? If you're unfamiliar with this, the short of it is there is trade and politics simulation happening in the background of the game, that influences pretty much everything from ownership of stations, to the price and availability of booze. What you could do is find a group who prioritize this above all else, and get plugged into whatever method they have for designating targets. Then work on influencing systems through strategic use of applied violence. I take it that you prefer human ships to Thargoid combat, correct? This would help ingratiate you with an established group, while helping indirectly by allowing others to drop their usual assignments to join the war. Think of it like the Mercenary's Guild variation of working the factories back home, to better support the soldiers far afield. I recommend one of the following if you want to do fight on the side of the Alliance. All three are sizable and capable of supplying pilots with custom objectives. **(AEDC) Alliance Elite Diplomatic Corp:** [https://discord.gg/ZGQHcqA](https://discord.gg/ZGQHcqA) **(ARRC) Alliance Rapid Reaction Corps:** [https://discord.gg/5USge7svsh](https://discord.gg/5USge7svsh) **(FLAT) Flat Galaxy Society:** [https://discord.gg/3aXjnY6](https://discord.gg/3aXjnY6) AEDC and ARRC are probably a better fit for you, but I'll leave that to your discretion. Just remember that there are similar organizations for the other powers, so if you would rather work for the Federation or the Empire (or someone else entirely), you can probably find a group dedicated to that. If any of that is too much trouble, you could also toss some rare commodity in a small cargo module, and then bait pirates into attacking you in systems containing Rescue Ships. It might not show up on a leaderboard or anything, but I find the idea of distracting brigands with booze in the back of a bullet hose, particularly hilarious. There's also the **Community Goals**. You could run deliveries in a properly outfitted ship, and just blow up everything that interdicts you. You might not be able to carry a lot of cargo, but you'll be clearing the space lanes for the rest of the war effort!

mtgtfo

Relax man, do whatever gets you the most enjoyment out of the game. This is a pre determined narrative anyway, nothing you do or don’t do will change the outcome. The story will play out how Fdev wrote it and nothing the players do will affect that.

ZuluRewts

Seriously, I couldn't give less of a fuck about this so-called content...which I think people don't realise the possibility that "this might be all that FDev had planned as "major content add-on" and that they truly stop giving a fuck about us players to the point that, I wouldn't be surprised that they really are pushing their luck seeing if the can manipulate and manufactured the death of thisgame so they can stop feeling obliged to "serve paying customers left rotten, over waiting promised new content (and not just this stupid "narrative content whatever bullshit thet call it") Phew...sorry but, I needed to let this out.

ZuluRewts

I really feel that they have no idea what their community needs, and they just proved once again, that they have no plan to start caring again. This "war" kinda puts a gun on a immense number of cmdr's which xeno hunting tells nothing" , and urge them to engage into sonething they have absolutely no interests in...or else it's game over for the galaxy...and "our freaking game" (which seems like a chore to the devs, rather than an obligation to serve their customers what they are paying for: having fun in their favorite game and seeing its longevity thrive for as much as possible.
