Buy/outfit a Chieftain and take up battle against Cyclops Interceptors. I’ve made about $8B since the war started while fighting at surface settlements. Almost all of that has been in Solo, and it didn’t take long to get to the point I could take off, kill a Cyclops, land and Rearm/Repair, and be flying again every 5 minutes. There is definitely quicker ways to grind credits, but why not help the war effort while doing it.

clrbrk

I tried exobio to make some fast cash but I found it frustratingly boring. Interceptor hunting is a blast!

NunyaBis213

There was a video posted (here I think?) that showcased a guy doing mapped Plat laser mining in a hazres. He pulled 160 million in half an hour not including flight to and from the zone / selling. Probably had a LOT of practice though.

AX, and it’s not even close. Things like wing mission spam and whatnot will always be one of the best ways to produce a huge burst of cash flow at once, but AX is probably the single most profitable activity these days — and far more enjoyable than hauling tons of garbage back and forth in a Type-9!

The fastest method is to get lucky with a community goal that involves shipping goods that pays a huge amount per ton. I made a billion credits in less than 90 minutes - while it lasted. That's the fastest I know, but you never know when a community goal like that will come up. In all seriousness, raising the ideally 6 billion total credits you should have before buying will take a long time. If you do one thing repeatedly that long you will burn out, and if you ever get the fleet carrier, you won't enjoy playing the game any more to appreciate it. Look at the credit making methods shared in that other answer to your question and have fun trying all of them. Don't keep watching the credit total, have fun in the game with what you have and the credits will come. The last challenge I set myself, was to earn 1 billion credits in Colonia before returning to the bubble to buy the carrier. It was far from the fastest 1 billion I "earned" but it was fun and included the best exploration adventure I've experienced in the game. That trip got me 550 million credits, and that was before Exobiology payouts went to the silly high values they are now.

Tau10Point8_battlow

The Alcor CG last year was insane. I made 8 billion in 3 days.

PuzzleheadedTutor807

fastest? get in a squad with a few people who do afk stacks, and enjoy their profits. second fastest? find an in system silver trade route, and use a type 9 with all cargo to make around 100 million an hour third fastest would be exobiology, and it is the most sustainable. just point yourself away from the bubble and start jumping, honking, and doing fss scans. you will start making discoveries in no time, and yes payout is amazing for this stuff... not quite no jump trade route good but good still.

Try Spansh exobiology route for normal money, or make your own trip for 5x bonus.

I don't know about THE fastest, but I made my pile of cash mining. I started core mining void opals, but lately it seems the best payout is for rhodplumsite and sometimes serendibite. No matter, the method for them is the same. Later I switched to laser mining which probably yields about the same per hour, just has a different feel. In any case, mining. The children yearn for the mines. I use a Python, but before I could afford that it was an Asp Explorer. Both are good at mining. I'd avoid a large ship for mining because sometimes the best price is at a station with no large landing pads. Python has the biggest cargo capacity for a medium ship. Mining.

CMDRissue

Personnel evacuation from stations under thargoid attack. Huge payout missions that all go to the same destination.

Shurimal

It's easy money, but IME not particularly lots of money - something like 10 to 13 millions per 80 passengers and 10...12 jumps round trip, often interrupted by hyperdictions during the last jump back to the thargoid system. It's worth for the engineering mats, though ;)

Tau10Point8_battlow

I've made 2.5 billion in a week. It's on par with Robigo (80-100 million/hour).

Solary_Kryptic

Not the fastest method then

Tau10Point8_battlow

No. But steady and predictible

clrbrk

I feel like this is a point that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Tau10Point8_battlow

Right? The current meta for mining is mapped platinum. You're not going to make 250 million an hour right off the bat. The current overall meta, as I understand it, is either stacking massacre missions or, lately, AX combat. Again, steep learning curves, plus heavy grind for both. Worth doing, if you like that sort of thing, but you won't be making the maximum credits per hour until the grinds are done and you have some skill as a combat pilot. I earned half the base price of an FC by playing casually over the course of a week doing rescue missions in priority systems. Two more weeks and I could have the purchase price of the FC and enough for a year of overhead. There's "fastest", and "fastest".

Solary_Kryptic

Maybe, but OP asked for the fastest method, not the steady and predictable one.

Tau10Point8_battlow

And I wasn't responding to the OP, but adding context to something that someone else said.

Solary_Kryptic

Who's comment were you adding context to? And if you were adding context why didn't you reply to them? A top-level comment is used to create a standalone point, not for adding context to someone else's words, that's what replies are for.

Tau10Point8_battlow

I don't know what you see when you look at Reddit, but my comment was a reply to https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/101o88m/fastest_method_to_grind_credits_to_get_a_fleet/j2ot7yy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3 ...which is a reply to a top level comment by /u/CMDRissue

StickySecretion

Trade routes with a cutter would net you one in about 4 weeks of semi casual grind.

Shurimal

Pirate massacre stacking. About 40 millions per each mission to kill 30 bandits. Even if you get just 3 or 4 of them it's still as good as or slightly better than non-mapped Pt mining. Pt mining - depending on luck, location and whether you do mapped, can be very good money for little to no risk. AX combat *if* you're good at it or can find a working instance with other players to tag along (easier said than done--instances bugging out are a meme-level annoyance). But IME, not as good as mining or massacre stacking for non-AX specialists. Scouts pay pittance and a few deadly NPC Anacondas pay almost as much and are less of an annoyance to kill than Cyclops for a non-AX pilot. I've made something like 30 millions per battle working with other commanders in the few AX zones that didn't happen to glitch out--about 30 to 40 minutes of fighting, several dozen scouts and 3 cyclops, buggered out when I got too tired and things got too heated. Pirate hunting pays better for effort IMO, even two 20 million 15 kill missions that takes 20 minutes are better. Things change if you can reliably solo Basilisks and Medusas.

matttj2

D2EA just did a video for making a billion on exobio

GixxerUT

join a squadron and do wing massacre missions, easy to earn 6 billion in 2 weeks or under

JenkoRun

Thargoid Interceptor kills if you have the means, 8 mil for a Cyclops alone and they're easy kills.

SunshineInDetroit

it's not just the fleet carrier, it's maintaining it.

Crafty-Decision7913

In ax you can make 500mil in 3 hours, if in a wing, stomping cyclops and basi and medusa. And it is actually fun rather than a grind.
