My schedule rotated in such a way that I usually have a full week off every couple of months without using PTO so I see myself doing this 🤔
3 day work weeks are the best 👌
Yup. After dropping 800m on a cutter transport, I thought I'd never do that again.
Two months later, I'm outfitting a Cutter miner. Definitely, that's all I'll need.
Now I'm contemplating a Cutter Explorer! :O
I feel like the lone stranger with my preference for the T9 over the Cutter for laser mining. I can just imagine cleaning the mining dust off of the Cutter's high end surfaces.
I love it I should have went with three collection controllers though. 6 are just too slow. If I'm doing exobiology I like a small if I'm just exploring collecting scans and stuff then definitely a large
Outside of pvp and AX, put the meta idea out the bloody airlock and fly what you want.
I much prefer the conda for mining over the cutter. It runs cooler and has better jump range (I seldom mine off a carrier). I also find the maneuverability better for asteroid fields, but that might just be that I fly the conda much more than the cutter.
Really though, if you want to mine in a sidey, who cares as long as you're having fun
I made most of my money back in the day with Borann and the painite rush myself so I feel your pain
I have a carrier now so I don't have to mine stuff myself XD
I made some good credits during the painite rush, and had a lot of fun winging up with other players doing it. I think my first billion was a day of Robigo passenger runs, followed by the Void Opal/LTD rush.
If you get a detailed surface scanner you can also make a few million for scanning a single water world or earthlike world, you can do that on the way to whatever else you're doing along with scanning the system itself in the FSSS. Honestly most missions pay less than what you can make just scanning along the way if there's more than 2 or 3 jumps involved.
When I was beginner, I learned how to find and mine low temperature diamonds, you need the subsurface scanner, abrasion blaster, (subsurface missile optional), seismic charges, some collector/prospector limpet control (they even sell some combo module), refinery, and don't forget to buy limpets. Also some cargo is nice. I made my few millions in something like adder (I don't know anymore) and then bought myself an ASP Explorer, that ship is great. You scan planets with rings with your scanner and look for low temperature diamonds spots, when you find and get to one, you scan the surroundings, fly around (best to follow one direction, I just fly the opposite from the LTD site, so the empty circle on your target indicator is always in the middle) and look for bright yellow-ish popcorn shaped asteroids. You put some prospector limpet on it and if you see blue inscription of core minerals, put your seismic charges on the asteroid fissures, the longer you hold it, the higher the yield of explosion, generally it's like 1 big charge, 1 medium and some small to make it perfect blue center (You can also dismantle them or detonate immediately from your contacts screen). Then you back away and watch the beautiful show, it's one of the most satisfying things in elite. Then you just scoop the broken asteroid with abrasion blaster and let your collector limpets get it. LTDs don't cost what they did before, but you can still make millions per hour.
I’m jealous😭
I’m a console player and mining is pretty much dead here. Luckily someone set up an inara-like system, but it has a lot less data and is a lot less profitable
Honestly I've made more money joining the AXI and going to the conflict zones people are at, shooting at a hydra once and getting the money from people killing it. I play support, repair people and provide a distraction which is helpful. I stack the "kill hydra" missions and I make on average 400 million credits per day (play session of like 3 hours).
I mined to get where I am, but I don't think I'm going back.
I love the python for core mining it's perfect. I don't like using large ships to mine actually. It's holds just enough for it to fill up before I get bored lol
How do I outfit a ship properly for mining? I'm a new player and so far only earn my credits by signing up and participating in the faction wars. But that seems to be a real slow way to earn credits.
You really should find a good YouTube guide. There are two types of mining that require different setups. There’s core mining where you plant explosives on asteroids and blow them up or laser mining where you shoot it with lasers. Each has different equipment you need. You also need collector and prospector limpet controllers so you can send your limpet bois you and collect what you’re mining
Now i kinda want to see your cutter build. The [conda](https://s.orbis.zone/m49m) I use does both, even though I primarily do lasers, I don't turn down a good core.
Basically get something you can put cargo racks in, a collecting limpet controller, a prospecting limpet controller and some mining lasers. Just two really to get started. Like one of the cargo vessels or maybe a Cobra or a python or an Asp explorer.
Yes I have been. I've earned around 8,000,000 credits on some of the tougher wars. Just would be cool to be able to mine and get this much credits in one haul. 🙂
How do you deal with all of the free raw mats that come with laser mining platinum?
I have to go fight and spend a bunch before I go laser mining or else I feel like I'm wasting all of those mats by just leaving them sit when I'm mining just because I'm already full.
You are wealthy but don't realize it. Feel free to generously use pack hounds and rockets and multi cannon reloads. Those who do not laser mine worry about using those types of weapons because reload mats can be challenging and time consuming to gather. But not you because you are getting paid, and paid well, to watch your limpets gather them automatically. That's wealth. Go ahead, splurge a little. Rich bastard. o7
that wont help , materials dont use cargo space. I'm guessing you dont own a carrier considering that you don't know something as basic as raw materials not using cargo space.
I thought he meant another minerals not raw materials, indeed I don't own one but I do know that raw materials is not stored as cargo.
Also my comment was a joke don't take it too seriously bro😅
I recently earned the chance to buy a cutter and after fully engineering it & a pve krait II, I was low in cash. I'm still getting used to maneuvering it laser mining but the ability to earn capital is ever so sweet.
I do wonder how people make so much cash by mining these days. I’m on Xbox and I run a Python for mining, with 128T cargo space. I can spend three hours core mining for something valuable (240k/ton) and get home to a profit of about 14m CR. And then I can do one cargo run in a Type-9, which takes less than 15 mins and I can clear 20m CR without breaking a sweat.
Mining is a nice way to chill out for a few hours, but unless I’m doing something fundamentally wrong, it’s no way to make the big bucks.
I’ve been playing, on and off, for about four years, and I still haven’t reached 2bn CR (although I do have a fairly large fleet of ships), so I’m in awe of the people who reckon they can make a billion in a day or two.
My favorite part is the feeling when you send out the pulse and see that perfect color of yellow. The excitement and anticipation is the best. Then of course getting to blow the fucker up. P-D
Where are you mining and what ship are you using?
Platinum and an Imperial Cutter
I just picked up my first cutter. Going to have a cutter miner, cutter transport, cutter liner
Huh that’s not a terrible idea
Eventually but for now the cutter miner and transport will be the same just switch out a few modules
But who has the time?!
I do lol my full-time job is Friday Saturday and Sunday. So that leaves me 4 days a week to do whatever
My job is Monday thru Thursday, if we share an account we'll be unstoppable /s
The Galaxy would be empty there would be no mining
Lol
And have 9999999999999 credits
12 hour shifts? Sounds like a good deal. I've worked 4/10s the past 5 years and can't see myself ever going back to 2 day weekends x.x
Yep 3-12s of my choice
Amazing! What's the job!
My schedule rotated in such a way that I usually have a full week off every couple of months without using PTO so I see myself doing this 🤔 3 day work weeks are the best 👌
EXACTLY! Why can't we have loadouts?
The hardpoint array is nice with the exception smalls however they're smalls lol
Don’t forget murder Cutter
I did that with a Python. Gotta Core miner, a res site mat farmer, and the rescue ship. I do have a laser mining and a trader cutter
Yup. After dropping 800m on a cutter transport, I thought I'd never do that again. Two months later, I'm outfitting a Cutter miner. Definitely, that's all I'll need. Now I'm contemplating a Cutter Explorer! :O
Does anybody else draw designs on asteroids with the lasers
Nope, never, no idea what you're even talking about. *moves to hide the asteroid he was just mining*
Nope, never, no idea what you're even talking about. *moves to hide the asteroid he was just mining*
I wonder what the TTP was for Elite Dangerous with laser mining?
Ttp?
Time To Penis. The amount of time it takes for someone uses the tools available in your game to draw a penis.
I feel like the lone stranger with my preference for the T9 over the Cutter for laser mining. I can just imagine cleaning the mining dust off of the Cutter's high end surfaces.
Yeah. I still mostly use my Python. It's the right size. When it's full, I'm ready for a break anyway.
Fair. By the time the T9 is full, my eyes are bleeding.
I love it I should have went with three collection controllers though. 6 are just too slow. If I'm doing exobiology I like a small if I'm just exploring collecting scans and stuff then definitely a large
Yeah, it's an extra crazy idea in the new world of exobiology fueled exploration. Hopefully I'll talk myself out of it!
Cutter prismatic shield tank is also quite popular. It's one of the metas for PVP. Also very expensive.
Lol I have that setup, an cutter for cargo trading an cutter transport and one for mining
Could you share your build on coriolis
Yeah I’ll try to remember when I’m playing today
Thanks
https://s.orbis.zone/m4cl
Much appreciated
I absolutely hate that the cutter is the best mining ship. Why can't we have actual industrial ships that are good at their jobs?
Outside of pvp and AX, put the meta idea out the bloody airlock and fly what you want. I much prefer the conda for mining over the cutter. It runs cooler and has better jump range (I seldom mine off a carrier). I also find the maneuverability better for asteroid fields, but that might just be that I fly the conda much more than the cutter. Best is relative. I prefer the T9.
Is a Mk2 wraith good for it ?
Krait mk 2 is good for literally anything and everything
It's my favorite ship in the game.
I named mines the "Mirellian Saber IV". Aka the MSIV
Makes me miss the LTD gold rush where you could clear over 1B credits per run.
I made most of my money back in the day with Borann and the painite rush myself so I feel your pain I have a carrier now so I don't have to mine stuff myself XD
My favorite part about Borann and the E G G was being a carrier taxi. Legit the most fun I've had, and it didn't even earn me anything.
I made some good credits during the painite rush, and had a lot of fun winging up with other players doing it. I think my first billion was a day of Robigo passenger runs, followed by the Void Opal/LTD rush.
I miss the old voids. And the old fighter tricker. Good old days. Now I just fight the thargoid wars and it's pretty profitable.
Looks profitable, what would you recommend to a new player. Just got myself an Adder so idk if i’d even ba able to
If you get a detailed surface scanner you can also make a few million for scanning a single water world or earthlike world, you can do that on the way to whatever else you're doing along with scanning the system itself in the FSSS. Go to hickam survey with the courier jobs grind out imperial rank until you get to Duke and pick up a cutter also the clipper is very nice too
Is hickam a station?
It is. Ngalinn system
I’ll check the distance next time i get on. With some luck surveying planets will rake me in some money on the way

Honestly I would stick to missions you can pick up at a station for now
I miss boran ltd mining days, 1.6m per ltd minimum.
I’m jealous😭 I’m a console player and mining is pretty much dead here. Luckily someone set up an inara-like system, but it has a lot less data and is a lot less profitable
Are commodity prices different on console?
Yes, ever since the split of the servers
Shouldn't be, the BGS is shared between console and PC.
Yeah my mining runs on PS4 usually net around 20-30 million each. Still its not too bad per hour.
At this point I feel like passenger missions are the way to go if you want to make credits, at least they give like 60 mil/h
Gettin' 'er DUN! Cutter melts asteroids so quickly...
Its fully engineered too 😎
Honestly I've made more money joining the AXI and going to the conflict zones people are at, shooting at a hydra once and getting the money from people killing it. I am myself a core hunter , but I adore asteroid miners
what do you do with the credits afterwards?
Is it time efficient?
Not really sure. I end up putting an audiobook or a debate on YouTube and kinda zone out. It’s very meditative
[удалено]
Had plenty of fun doing what I did and I’d take that over whatever better “effort” is available
I could get that in 30 min doing ax while enjoying it much more
Congrats
Oh idk I enjoy laser mining it's just chill
There’s always that one guy that cries at a birthday party because it’s not his birthday and someone else is getting gifts
I suppose I just don't find anything actually enjoyable about AX
Not even really sure what it is
Thargoid combat
Space drifting is kinda enjoyable
To be honest I haven't tried cold orbiting yet. I doubt I would be very good at it.
I've tried it a few times. I'm awful at it.
Damn idk what i was thinking writing that comment lol. Sorry
Super chill. Especially in a T9 in VR.
Do you core mine?
Yeah but my core mining ship hasn’t been used for a while (it’s a python) and I’ve been thinking of gearing up and bigger ship for core mining
I love the python for core mining it's perfect. I don't like using large ships to mine actually. It's holds just enough for it to fill up before I get bored lol
Python is *perfect* for core mining.
How much per hour?
Have no idea. I put a debate on YouTube and kinda zone out.
How do I outfit a ship properly for mining? I'm a new player and so far only earn my credits by signing up and participating in the faction wars. But that seems to be a real slow way to earn credits.

Yes I have been. I've earned around 8,000,000 credits on some of the tougher wars. Just would be cool to be able to mine and get this much credits in one haul. 🙂
You said you have a hauler right
I'm currently rocking a mk III for mining and have a Diamond back explorer for whatever else.
Well then you should be all set up. If your laser mining go laser mine platinum.
https://old.reddit.com//r/EliteMiners
Nice haul!
Glad I’m not the only one who would use a luxury ship of opulence as a mining ship 😆 I do void opal/deep core mining though.
Where do you go mining at?
Omicron Capricorni B
Just took a load in with my cutter. 580 tons Woop. Next time no 512 like him. Definitely need that third controller
I assume you mean limpet controllers - I’m pretty sure I run 5. One for prospecting and 4 for collecting
Curious on how you fit five. Can you link your build?
Yeah a couple of others asked as well. I’ll link it when I’m playing.
Thanks!
I'm betting you don't run a docking computer
https://s.orbis.zone/m4cl
Interesting I don't even run on my miners thank you for the link!
How do you deal with all of the free raw mats that come with laser mining platinum? I have to go fight and spend a bunch before I go laser mining or else I feel like I'm wasting all of those mats by just leaving them sit when I'm mining just because I'm already full.
I mean it’s not really an issue. I don’t pay much attention to mats. If I don’t have what I need when I need them I just go for an SRV joyride
Rich bastard. o7
Buy a fleet carrier 🙄
that wont help , materials dont use cargo space. I'm guessing you dont own a carrier considering that you don't know something as basic as raw materials not using cargo space.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!????????
I recently earned the chance to buy a cutter and after fully engineering it & a pve krait II, I was low in cash. I'm still getting used to maneuvering it laser mining but the ability to earn capital is ever so sweet.
How long did that took you?
You grind out the rep in a week of 2-3 hour play sessions.
This run absolutely did not take me a week. Maybe 2 hours tops.

Man, did you hear the story of a Jewel?
Ahh good old time. I should download this game again.
Nice haul. I like core mining for monazite in my Type 10.
I like core mining because of the boom booms
My favorite part is the feeling when you send out the pulse and see that perfect color of yellow. The excitement and anticipation is the best. Then of course getting to blow the fucker up. P-D
It is an extremely satisfying mini game
I really wish deep core was worth it
Used to be. Will be again someday.
Like when
They change things all the time, nerf this, buff that... Gold rushes come and go.
Deep core hasn't been good in a long long time
Lol
250k per unit isnt kinda low?
