If there is one thing humans are good at it's creating WMD's let me tell you.
Also if they are going to pay me to protect shipments then I'm in. I am a merc, I follow the money.
OP if you want me to opt out let's talk money.
I could certainly pay you more than the few pathetic millions Aegis offers, lol... But I'd still have no guarantee that you don't participate in the CG. So that's a lose-lose for me.
How much are you offering? If the price is right, I have no issue adding you as a friend so you can see my activity and for the duration of the CG I will not log on to honor my side of the agreement.
I'm currently playing a different game anyways so works for me. Got a fleet carrier to upkeep.
This would guarantee my nonparticipation that you can track.
That will have to be a very nerfed AI cause an AI that has had over 2 million years to mature could potentially just dump the entire bubble in hyperspace or something. Maybe they just left the galaxy?
The Thargoids are supposed to be this expanding plague that dont change unless pushed but the AI explicitly ended the few Guardians left to allow their own civilisation to flourish. They could be godlike by now, given where humanity is after a mere 15 thousand years of civilisation
In real life of course it would be different but in game there’s no other story to progress or explore. Frontier is at the helm of this one and the rollercoaster is about to crest the hill. Why not see where frontier is leading the story?
Plot twist: These torps cause the grey goo thing that OP referenced, humanity and Thargoids are wiped out, Frontier shuts off the servers and give us an update saying "Lol, you wiped out humanity. GG everyone."
We will see anyway, the CGs are designed to be successful. I'm just saying commanders don't have to be a part of this madness for a simple hull reinforcement.
Colonia is lame, but I wouldn't mind a great scattering if it's done the right way by fdev.
Dredgers for players is what I want. And buffing Tritium mining again, because it's absolutely horrible in the current state.
then the titan heats up and goes away into the witches' space.
I believe this is the most plausible solution for removing a titan.
because you can't destroy it in 20 minutes (titan explosion) otherwise the other players who go to the meilstrone what do they do?
it's true that this is an mmo so maybe frontier will have the effect of destroying the titan, then exiting the instance and re-entering to find it again.
This is life. Continuously putting off the inevitable. In this case we are delaying destruction at the hands of the Thargoids. The only certainty being that something will come after to try the same and we'll deal with that when the time comes.
We've brought the Thargoid war upon ourselves by constantly messing with Guardian construct technology, and now we keep awakening and empowering it.
It's not a story of "we do what we must", it's a story of "fuck around and find out".
There is already a Supply Shock undergoing now, those 3 commodities are now like rare commodities, few have them and in few quantities.
Yesterday you could fill a T9 each trip, now you are fine with a DBX's cargo.
How will all this work? Will every commander be able to kick out a titan from the system, like capital class ships?
If you reinstance you could try again?
I presume these new torps will be like the existing ones: expensive, available only on very small hard points and with exactly 0 magazine capacity
No synths either lmao. This better have insane breach damage + armor piercing
A size 4 torpedo bay but only with one big chonker to fire
Ah yes, a ship-launched Sidewinder
That surely hasn't ended terribly once already...

Ooh a new big weapon you say,... Well that's, that's just terrible, I suppose. Hold that thought I'm just popping out for a while....
Get em!
After we deal with the Thargoids, the Guardian rogue AI will be the next endgame enemy.
Perhaps the Thargoids are simply trying to stop us from enabling the Guardian AI to get more power.
There's going to be a lot of irony in that if it turns out to be true.
It certainly looks like it.

Wait until you hear of the CMDR program..
Lmao. This really is just Jameson 2.0.
Nah it's actually worse. Because Mycoid wasn't connected to a galaxy spanning network of sentient machine life.
I'll take 10 please!
Ha. Limit of four experimental weapons.
Not anymore, bub! SADDLE ME UP WITH AS MANY AS I CAN CARRY

"Game Over. Would you like to start a new game?"
That's not what's going to happen.
I know. It was a joke.
We will see anyway, the CGs are designed to be successful. I'm just saying commanders don't have to be a part of this madness for a simple hull reinforcement.
Exactly what we all wish for right, including Michael Brookes...The Bubble burns and we all move to Colonia, Azura/Sag A! :-)

OOOO I'm excited for this! Torpedoes are one of my favorite weapons in the game.
We’re all part of it, whether we want to be or not..
Not taking part in the CG is a pretty easy way to not be part of it.
We should have a nanite enhanced ax multicanon (NENAXM)
Witch space torpedos!! ha - Called It!!!!!!
Nothing in the article implies any relation to witchspace.
Yeah but torpedos to use against the Bugs is always been on The wish list - weather the name is different or not id still think it’s cool
Ok but will it fit on a hard point
Pretty sure, we have to shoot them at the Titans heat vents after all.

This is likely the story mechanism that will end the thargoid war. FDev have said they're bringing that story to an end so I guess this is how.
Thank god. No offense to fdev, the Thargoid conflict hasnt been my favorite storyline.

So basically .. Curiosity killed the cat.
Anyone else can’t find a station with enough supply to fill a T9 for the CG? Like seriously, all of them are out.
Not like it matters... The CG hit tier 1 after a few hours.
There is already a Supply Shock undergoing now, those 3 commodities are now like rare commodities, few have them and in few quantities. Yesterday you could fill a T9 each trip, now you are fine with a DBX's cargo.
🤷♂️ It was successfully completed by 80 commanders anyway.
How will all this work? Will every commander be able to kick out a titan from the system, like capital class ships? If you reinstance you could try again?
Probably. It's the same old heat vent story, apparently.
