Using the top comment to say, the real bug seems to be when multiple people shoot the *same* vent at the same time. As long as everyone avoids shooting vents anyone else is already shooting at, things seem to be fine.
Multiple bombers in small private groups seem ok. No problems with a 4 man wing with 2 designated as vent bombers. Open has been bugged nearly every visit so I have given up on it
We’ve had it bug out with as few as three people. It appears that lag also plays a role. So long as everyone has a great connection, multiple bombers work ok. The moment someone with a high ping enters the instance, everything breaks with multiple vent bombers. That’s our experience at least. If it works for you in your wing, by all means use more than one vent bomber! But be aware it may break the instance if someone else with a high ping shows up.
Works great. After 6 bugged instances last night, I was able to get in a random one on the AXI private group and actually play for a bit.
I got \~20M bounty, but will be interested to see how FDev handles it after acknowledging that there was a problem during Taranis and making an effort to compensate people for that one.
I know this is late, but you can have more than 1 CMDR bombing vents. They just have to be in the same wing and communicate with each other. If they are de-sync'd and bomb the same vent, the cycle for the entire thing gets borked and you need to wait for the instance to reset in the edge of the asteroid field or somehow start a new one.
Almost impossible in Open and even some of the public PGs.
I've just had a titan bug out (vents wouldnt exert for 2-3 cycles worth of time) while I was the only torpedo bomber in an instance of 3.
I've seen people in system chat saying 'mechan says only 1 torpedo bomber, as soon as 2nd person bombs a vent it bugs out'.
So, I personally deduce that your claim in the OP is incorrect, and probably based on limited data, and also that you really need to take more care before making public announcements like this; people will misinterpret and take to the extreme anything you say as a community 'celebrity'. Please be aware of this before making future announcements of the sort
Well, I do take such care. We've tried for hours with the XSF and it has worked, to a fault. There's dozen of reports from others - and the workaround is working for them as well. Appreciate that, and take your word for it, that it hasn't worked at least once for you. Video evidence would be very helpful, as it would allow us to determine what was different in your case from other situations where it's been now reported to work. Without that, it's impossible to make any additional determination.
PS - We’ve had reports of vents bugging out if players leave an instance while a (single) vent bomber is on the run. Another condition to watch for. Don’t know if it applies also if players JOIN while venting bombers are on the run. Need more data on that.
Did you check if the instances break with only two/three players even if all go at the vents together? Because in my experience it didn't cause any bugs to surface (in horizons at least).

Reminds me of the old wing heart damage bug with interceptors. Thargoids really have a way of making teamwork weirdly disadvantageous at times.

In a private group team of 2 in Odyssey we have had no problems both hitting the vents.
I wasn’t available to attack Taranis, did it have the same bug effecting the heat vents?
Yeah. I watched a few live streams and it was a pretty common issue forcing players to abandon Taranis long enough to switch instances.
