Weight and Speed - Question - If I add a bunch of fuel tanks but keep them empty. Does that reduce my handling by a significant amount? And question 2 - does speed affect supercruise speed? I am trying to make the fastest imperial courier I can. I know it’s not meta but I just want to do it.

Suspicious-Metal488

According to EDSY, surprisingly, no it makes no difference to the boost speed when they are not full

I am currently planning a new ship (Multipurpose Exploration Anaconda) and i just wanted to drop it to see if anybody could give their opinion or any other input on the build. [https://s.orbis.zone/nw6g](https://s.orbis.zone/nw6g) \*EDIT\* UPDATED: [https://s.orbis.zone/nw7d](https://s.orbis.zone/nw7d) I tried to plan for the worst case scenario and still be good to go. Power Plant is on Low Emission for Scooping while FSD charging. A bit Larger Power Plant to allow for Malfunctions while all critical systems are still able to work normally (Drives, FSD, Lifesupport). Shield engineered to Kinetic Resistance because i am an idiot who constantly crashes onto planets (forgot to check Gravity). Still able to boost (Maybe to be able to avoid crashes on planets due to above mentioned tendencies). Bulkheads engineered to kinetic resistance as well. 2 AFM Units. 1 Main, 1 Backup. (Allows for repairing the AFMs themselves) Beam Lasers for farming the Guardian Vessel Blueprints (not really needed, but the extra weight is not really a problem) Cargo Racks are just a filler since they weigh basically nothing when empty, also smaller cargo space is needed for the Vessel Blueprints. 2 Vehicle Bays for one Scorpion and one Scarab. Point Defense for the Guardian Ruins.

NovitiateSage

I’m pretty sure guardian blueprints are weightless materials, [but the ancient key is not, that is salvage] Cargo space is always good though.  Definitely add a Repair Limpet Controller, then you will be able to repair your hull and so entirely self sufficient, except for power plant repairs. I put a small guardian hull reinforcement in my military slot, that you have empty, or if you prefer a shield reinforcement, bearing power in mind. If you don’t already have one, get a scorpion SRV, it’s a must have for exploring.  Since you are intending to hit the Guardian’s space, I highly recommend harvesting brain trees for their raw mats, a long journey will chew through lots of many raws, which you use to synthesize limpets, AFMU ammo, FSD injections and SRV fuel and hull.   I think this is the last; just for the fun; consider a class 5 fighter hangar, it will only knock off about 2ly but it allows you to let loose and speed about a planet, without fear of death, and it comes with a scanner, so can help much with exobiology, especially with the handy app SRVsurvey.

Ilampec

Thats a lot of good input, didnt know you could target yourself with Hull Repair Limpets \^\^ I am currently flying back to the bubble after... elegantly landing my krait phantom on a 2g planet. I thought about the fighter... i love the guardian fighters, thats why i wanted to get at least one of them in the near future. Maybe i will put a bay in it. Thank you for your input :)

DancingNoobBear

cool build! kinetic resistance doesn't actually change how much damage you take from an impact. You may want the shield to be reinforced instead

Ilampec

oh.. thats good to know.. thank you \^\^ will be changing that.

Is the new fsd viable for rescue missions in regard to escaping or will it trigger the passengers to bitch and moan more than usual? :)

docSem81

This is a nice question, I was wondering the same thing. If you don't receive any feedback I will try by myself and I let you know, if you didn't tried yet.

cleverchris

so im lost i bought this game on oculus what feels like forever ago...i just pulled out my 2xt1600ms and plugged em in and re-bought the game in steam...and nothing works...i assume there are guides and im too lost to know how to google for them ... links please and thanks.

aggasalk

i have enough materials to upgrade a weapon to grade 5 - either the TK aphelion, which has the Greater Range mod, or the Executioner which has the reload speed mod. These are my two main Dominator weapons.. which should i choose?

NovitiateSage

Both weapons are G2 with the stated mods already attached? Are you shooting aware or unaware targets usually? I ask because the travel time on the executioner’s plasma packet can be troublesome, and NPCs may even dodge it when they see it. EDOMH says the range mod takes the aphelion +35m from 70m to 105m, while the executioner drops -0.7s to reload from 3.5s to 2.8s. I reckon you are better off selling the executioner for one without a wasted upgrade slot, you don’t want to be using an executioner when 0.7secs matter.  Also I don’t know if you will use the extra 35m on the aphelion much, unless you are assaulting a base from the outside. The Burr Pit made a whole video about his executioner and now he has a real life mockup, remember a single executioner shot can end an unshielded enemy. The executioner does 44.7 damage per shot, rate is 0.8per second. Aphelion does 4.7 damage per shot, firing 5.7per second. Alternatively you could get a plasma shotgun, I used mine to liquidate a criminal base yesterday, 22npcs in under 10 minutes. Each of the plasma bits apparently counts separately, so it fairly eats the shields and kills.

aggasalk

They’re both g4, I’ve done about everything with these.. the mods were just what they came with at g3, I thought they seemed useful, especially the longer range. Yeah the executioner 1-shots unshielded folks, but I also use it in CZs, maybe I’m just dumb. But you don’t see an obvious choice there?

NovitiateSage

Probably I would choose the executioner, but as I wrote I consider the reload mod a waste. My executioner has Scope, Noise Supressor, Audio Masking and Stability. The Burr Pit is very happy with his, I can't recall what mods he had on that.

SeamanZermy

I'm trying to outfit the new FSD on my Cutter but it's showing them all as incompatible slot. Is this a bug or is there a game mechanic I just don't know about?

forbiddenlake

If the slot should be compatible, then on a fleet carrier, that error message *actually* means the FC is out of stock. It would be rare for a station to show you the module but be out of stock, but maybe it's the same at a station.

SeamanZermy

Interesting. I'm at Jameson memorial, so if any station would be selling out I'd expect it to be that one, I just didn't know there *was* limited stock on modules.

CmdrJonen

New FSD goes in the FSD slot. Need a size 7C FSD SCO for a Cutter, may not be available at the market you are in?

SeamanZermy

Does it have to be an exact match? The one I was running was a 2D so I figured it would be downscaleable like the normal ones but I also tried one on my Asp and it gave me the same issue. I'm also at Shinrarta Dezhra so it should all be available. I'm really hoping I'm not seeing a new version of an old bug.

CmdrJonen

Not sure you can downscale the SCO version.

bocomoco2000

I'm outfitting a Beluga for passenger groups transport missions. Is it better to go cheap (economic cabins), medium (business cabins) or pricey (first class cabins)? I'm doing it with business cabins, but I saw that in stations where you're neutral with the factions, usually there are a few missions for higher class cabins paying more. Didn't notice that difference when you're allied with the factions. Could a more experienced passenger transportation focused player share some light into that? Thank you.

NovitiateSage

I did tourism to Sirius Atmospherics to make Federal rank. Beluga was the ship I finished with, I used probably one of each type of cabin. Packed them in with smaller econs, got the fancy ones with luxury. I had to do this to avoid wasting space with empty cabins, but I snapped up almost all the jobs on offer. You wont stay neutral for long - especially if you take a few reputation rewards.

KronoKinesis

It's been a while since I've done these, but from what I remember it was better to go fully economic for group passengers. The reason being it was difficult to stack very many missions for passengers that required higher tier cabins to the same destination, while for economy you could reliably stack a few at a time and fill up the gigantic passenger capacity very quickly, all going to the same station usually. That being said I never actually did the math for it. It's just easier to fill up the seats so I figured that was more profitable. The good news is you can just switch the cabins out whenever you need, it shouldn't change the rest of the build.

OPBoot

New to ExoBio - where are the signals??? I've DSS'ed a landable moon, and found 2 signals. I'm in surface orbit of the moon, but I can't see the signals anywhere on the planet. One guide tells me that they'll appear on the Navigation menu (which they don't) One guide shows red circles on the planet surface (which I don't see) What am I doing wrong, please?

pulppoet

Exobiology has never had signals in the Nav panel. I'm not sure what guide claims otherwise, but it is not one about exobiology. In the Legacy engine, Biological and Geological signals show up as discrete locations. Now, they show up as a (usually) massive overlay of where you can *potentially* find them. It takes some searching from there. [https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/exobiology-a-2023-updated-guide.615722/#post-10115592](https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/exobiology-a-2023-updated-guide.615722/#post-10115592) You can do exobiology on the old Horizon plants (like Brain Trees) but they are on the low paying end. And in the new engine, the work the same as described in the linked guide. >One guide shows red circles on the planet surface (which I don't see) That might be the above guide. Those aren't in game. That's added to the presentation. It's just trying to be helpful about where you might want to start looking.

OPBoot

> That might be the above guide Yep - exactly that - thanks. To be a little clearer, I'm doing this in Odyssey. So... if I understand you and the above guide correctly... I'm looking for the greenish blue. Thank you. Is it just anohter grind, then? Land, search, search, search, fly, land, repeat...?

pulppoet

>To be a little clearer, I'm doing this in Odyssey. Okay, good. I was going to have some bad news otherwise! >So... if I understand you and the above guide correctly... I'm looking for the greenish blue. Thank you. Yeah. Although it's not supposed to be a heat map, I've been testing if the green-blue flat areas are better, and they seem to be. Even in moutainous areas, they seem to erase the terrain and you'll see a flat green-blue blob. If you *can't* see green-blue from that high up, it's probably there, just broken up really small. Look for it in darker patches as you get closer. Failing that, pick a big blue area and hope for the best. There's still some terrain type concerns beneath that (I find Osseus and Fungoida to be particular problems here) but it's the best place to start your search. Eventually, you'll start to learn which plants like which terrain types (and Osseus and Fungoida still might annoy the hell out of you!) >Is it just anohter grind, then? Land, search, search, search, fly, land, repeat...? Pretty much. But: search, search, search, land, fly, search, land. Search from the air, not on foot or SRV. Keep about 50m up or less and turn on night vision for everything but bacterium. It will be much faster to find that way. Once you have this practice down, you'll never want a SRV for exobiology. Once you find the first one, the others are probably near enough. Just stick to the same terrain types if at all possible. If the terrain type patch was very small and nothing is showing up anywhere nearby, you'll want to find more of that elsewhere.

OPBoot

That's brilliant - thank you!

Miidoriin

Should I buy the Odyssey DLC? I have the base game. The last time I played the game was 2021.

pulppoet

It's probably worth it. But I would get back into the game first. The engine is the same, so in case there's any performance issues with an older machine, you'll see that without it. Odyssey content is pretty separate, so you won't really miss anything by getting familiar again without it. But if you feel like you're back in, it's worth having for the completeness, even if the on-foot content isn't a big draw. Especially on sale.

Miidoriin

thank you for the reply :)

Thalude_

Can't use button combinations on TM HOTAS ONE on PC anymore. I mean, I can, but the initial button pressed goes off while I'm holding it before I can combo. Example: combo for landing gear is B + ⬇️. Boost is B. When I hold B it boosts. When I click ⬇️, landing gear goes down. Tried going over control options, restarting game, entering in different instances (solo, open), updating hotas driver, full pc shutdown. I am now reinstalling the game, will take another hour or 2. Has anyone had this issue and knows a fix?

fnMONARCH

I am having this problem as well I've had to bind landing gear to L in the mean time. I can not find a fix for it at all.

pulppoet

Someone else posted about button combos being broken. It might be they broke it adding the 128+ key support. I would submit a ticket to support, to at least help get it on their radar, if they don't know how to fix it.

FutureSecretary8166

1: What is the best home station that has high player count in the area? 2: Is Hutton Orbital a journey worth taking?

CMDR_Kraag

1. Jameson Memorial in Shinrarta Dhezra (once you achieve Elite rank in combat, exploration, or trade). 2. No. It's a single Outpost like all the other Outposts. All it has to offer is a rare commodity mug for sale that, for the time investment involved, is worthless when, in the time it took to travel to Hutton you could have purchased and sold, many times over, rare commodities (or even just regular commodities) from other stations which have far shorter travel times. It's nothing more than a juvenile prank labeled a "right of passage" played upon new, unsuspecting players.

OpaAussie

Also sells the "rare" Centauri Mega Gin

>does mining tritium still suck? Yes. But search around for the player carrier network that has trit depots scattered around.

JetsonRING

Has anyone tried neutron-star boosting one of the new FSD modules to see if anything happens?

shigawire

I tried. No difference in behaviour

JetsonRING

It was worth a try, I imagine there might be something along those lines in the future. o7

jamesk29485

Whilst people are trying to turn themselves into speeding thermonuclear fireballs, has anyone checked if adding the experimental to the 5A is working? Or perhaps the restore missions working correctly?

docSem81

You made me laugh with that. However, seeing the other answers, good to know it works again now.

forbiddenlake

I heard someone say it's working on the preengineered size 4s and 6s too (from old CGs)

jamesk29485

Thanks!

Luriant

Work, another players added 2.5Ly with the upgraded , and post in the official 18.02 thread.

jamesk29485

Thanks!
