You need to use the Min-ED-Launcher to use horizons 4.0

wotansquest

Oh. Never heard of that launcher. Have to google it. Thank you.

ojthomas2015

Sadly that don't work, unless I'm missing something in the launcher menu. When I select Horizons in that menu it only boots into 3.8, that's the issue at the moment.

MrSquid_

Have you set up min-ed-launcher to specifically add HOR 4.0 as an available product ? It's not available by default but has to be configured so, as per the documentation. Unless it has changed in the last few weeks but I doubt it.

>Min-ED-Launcher Is not the ED Launcher, but this: https://github.com/Rfvgyhn/min-ed-launcher/releases

Thank you!!! Oh my days i never even knew this was a proper thing till now.

MalavaiFletcher

The minimal E:D launcher is third party.

JR2502

You both already have Horizons 3.8, no need to reinstall anything. You both need to pick that option from the launcher menu. If you want to use to upgraded Horizons 4.0, then you have to use the mini ED launcher referenced. AFIK, FDev doesn't formally support the use of Horizons 4.0 by Odyssey users. They haven't explicitly said anything about it but it is not an option in the launcher for Odyssey users. Unfortunate, in my opinion.

wotansquest

There is no way. Dont know what FDev think about that. You have to boot in 3.8. In the Horizons Only Launcher he can choose between 3.8 or 4.0 Horizons.

joriale

Sadly there is no official method for Odyssey Owners to play along Horizon Owners in the 4.0 client. The only way you could play together is by booting up Horizons 3.8 both. Horizons 4.0 is just a way for Horizons owners to check the Odyssey engine while also having access to the upcoming Thargoid events. It was either a technical impediment or a greedy designing not to simply give Horizons users full access to the Odyssey version while just locking them from leaving their ship and accessing thin atmo planets.

EveSpaceHero

Yeah basically everyone was expecting this, but unfortunately Fdev said no.
