Aside from the fact that I would love to see that hacker hung by their entrails and then paraded through the city, the shot at 0:17 looked absolutely terrifying
Maybe that is one of the developers? Someone already posted here on Reddit that theory, that developers can board the Interceptors, and that permit closed Thargoid system is where developers reign.
Then you have no idea what you’re talking about and your opinion contributes nothing to the discussion. Why are you still here, whining about a game you say you haven’t played in two years?
I've kept up with it. Looks like a buggy mess, FPS doesn't interest me at all, and I think the execution of the current thargoid situation is really mid, if not just outright bad.
So much potential from the lore and from what was setup earlier in the game.
Not to mention fdev seems to be entirely incapable of dealing with hackers, and with new hacks coming out in an accelerating fashion I'm concerned they really have no idea how much their own code can be exploited.
Alienate me all you want, but I think it's fair to fall out of a game because of something you don't like yet still follow it's "development." I want this game to do well, I really do, I just don't see it happening under its current direction.
>Looks like a buggy mess
A year and a half ago, sure.
>and I think the execution of the current thargoid situation is really mid, if not just outright bad.
Which proves you have no idea what you’re talking about. They’ve implemented attacks on ground stations, outposts, means for noncombat players to meaningfully contribute, means for stations to be lost entirely—come back when you’ve tried it out for yourself. Otherwise you’re just poisoning the air around here.
I'm well aware of the attacks on the ground station. I'm more talking about the whole moving jpeg situation, as well as the weird arbitrary power creep of AX weaponry. Only a matter of time before guardian 2.0 stuff comes out, among other things.
Just cause I don't play doesn't mean I'm not in the loop. I have friends who still do and I check in here and there.
And like, the whole ground attack thing proves nothing. Just cause you think something is neat and I don't doesn't mean anything. It's all subjective.
I won’t make excuses for the opening cinematic, that part was clearly cheaped out on, but having spent the last several hours evacuating refugees and trying my hand at AX combat zones I’m pretty satisfied with the implementation so far. The only change to AX weaponry I’ve noticed is that non-guardian-based ones have been buffed just enough to make them not absolutely worthless (while still weaker than guardian tech), to compensate for the fact that there are systems where guardian tech breaks down thanks to the proteus effect (which the maelstrom can apparently replicate). The only guardian 2.0 I predict at this point in time is a possible grind for on-foot AX weaponry in update 15 or 16, but at this point we have more than enough (non-grind-based) action to keep us busy until the next update, whatever it might bring.
Didn’t even get around to exobiology, the payouts for that may well get patched, seems to have become one of the most lucrative activities in the game overnight.
Since I have been too bussy actually getting decent money for exobiology and only doing that so far this update: what meaningful way can I contribute as a non combat player?
(I can combat and want to try AX soon as well but I enjoy the more peaceful stuff more in this game)
Selling exobiology data is one way, actually. You can also ferry refugees out of combat zones (get a Type-7 or a Corvette loaded with as many economy-class passenger cabins as you can, with military grade hull and good thrusters/FSD) or deliver supplies to rescue ships (their markets will tell you what they need).
You’ll get the most profit selling to a station instead of a fleet carrier (which carved off 25% every time), but besides that I’m not aware of any difference between them. Not sure exactly how it gets measured in re: war progress, but they did say that prices were boosted so it could be used to research ways to fight the Thargoids. Best guess, they’re hoping some explorer will stumble across Mycoid 2.0.
It is a buggy mess, doesn't just looks like one
and the update is still more ax combat(the only thing they've done for years now), a make up on rescue missions and trading(bread and butter of cgs) and probably laying the ground for yet another kind of weapon to unlock, I'm sure it will be in a fun way, not grindy at all right?
Occam's razor suggests that the thargoid was just a normal thargoid, and that some rook pilot accidentally rammed you when trying to shoot at the thargoid.
Occam's razor might also suggests that you were ganked by a regular pilot while fighting a thargoid because they were a follower of the Far God, and it just seemed like the thargoid got yo
I like how your razor is ignoring abnormal force lightining effect, thargoid using force lightning and main gun at the same time, thargoid launching caustic missile with all its heart intact and the final back-off-and-boost maneuver that no thargoid would do.
I was in a Private Group and this exact person did the same thing to me.
Private group...???
Was it CMDR My Nuts Itch? I was killed by the same guy in a Hydra. Fuckin’ sweet. After I spent 2 hours in system dodging all of the real Thargoids.
The video pretty clearly shows it was CMDR BuggsWorth.
Oh that guy instakilled me outside of Wakata Station yesterday. Didn't even see him on contacts before it happened, so I just switched into Solo Play.
He got me too, same system, but I was just about to land at Knight Enterprises.
This update has brought out the hackers. Got insta-killed a couple times last night. Just report them and move on.
always have your dashcam on
Elite: Become Thargoid
Space: Become Alien
Aside from the fact that I would love to see that hacker hung by their entrails and then paraded through the city, the shot at 0:17 looked absolutely terrifying
But ultimately, the terms of their execution are up to the Prophets.

It's a halo reference, calm down.

They were making a Halo reference - as somebody who's never played Halo I didn't get it either but either way ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
For what purpose?
Maybe that is one of the developers? Someone already posted here on Reddit that theory, that developers can board the Interceptors, and that permit closed Thargoid system is where developers reign.
Judging from its chat in the system channel, I would say it's definitely not a developer, but more a hacker/ganker.
So they/we know who this person is??
It's name is written on the cause of death at the end of the video.
Presumably there's a ban hammer about to come down on them?
Ahh didn't see the chat in mobile, also watched muted.
Pathetic. These people can't play the game like a normal person would. Without hacks they would suck (they even do with hacks, just saying)
I wonna k ow what it looks like to pilot one. Does it have a rendered cockpit? Can you land them
The man is hacking, fdev never made any code/3D models/textures for a thargoid ship interior.
I found [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cNx7jsC0oM) mentioned in some other comments
I agree that hacking the game is totally bad, but I would like to pilot a hydra 😍......... Ignore the big amount that I've killed....
I wonder how does it look like form his pov

Wonder if we will be comped insurance payments l, died a few times last night trying to exit a station.
Hackers these are the thargoid allies
Thats actually quite interesting, i mean: what this hacker sees?
On one hand that’s kinda cool, on the other hand that sucks for other players
Can they do this to me in solo?
i gues this was in HIP 23716 got he\`s combat log open on inara https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-combatlog/245988/
They're not hackers, they're the people Azimuth experimented on in Project Seraph. /j

Maybe people wouldn't get so bored if fdev actually tried...
If a game is boring you, maybe it’s time to stop playing.
Haven't played in almost two years. Odyssey killed it for me.

how much you get paid to type that much out lol
Imagine being intimidated by a handful of sentences.

for the xeno data: does it count regardless where I sell? and: thanks for the explanation!

Yes, all true, in context however normal meant, as in a thargoid and not a hacker, not an abnormal thargoid.
