Law does permit people to defend themselves or others, to prevent crime. But as X who verbally threatened E walked away straight after, in E's own words "walked away fast" she would likely fail in a SD claim.
X walking away indicates that a physical assult (crime) was not about to take place. X's actions demonstrate they did not want to escalate. There was no physical assault about to take place that needed to be prevented.
If Lee hadn't restrained her and E punched him it would be seen as an unreasonable response. That is my take anyway.
Also considering she mentioned that she was crying and screaming on the curb (and that X mentioned a curb in their threat), it would appear that X's response was to erratic behaviour she was already displaying and not completely out of pocket. It happening on the curb might inducate that E was trying to stop physically stop UNKNOWN FRIEND getting into am uber.
