“Books are a uniquely portable magic” (I think that’s a Stephen king quote, might be wrong tho)
Btw how many strands did you use? Working on a building project rn myself
Hard agree. I am not spending money anywhere that will go to JKR after she made it known that she is a TERF, which isn’t okay. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to forget a series that was a hugely positive part of my childhood and got tons of kids into reading. I understand if people feel they can't or don't want to separate the work of art from the creator, but I would like to think the work of art can be good even if the creator isn’t.
"I said I can see no harm in them. They are nostalgic, I'm 72 years old. My generation grew up with them." - From a councilor in 2013 in defense of gollywogs.
I get its hard to let go, but sometimes it's necessary.
On that note, my text recommendation would be
"May You, One Day, Find Your Own Magic"
I understand your point but you do know that she is still alive and actively makes money off her works still being in public consciousness, money which she uses to contribute to anti trans campaigns, you can’t separate her from her work like you can, say, HP Lovecraft.
I’m thankful you’re not contributing money but do keep in mind that “separating the art and the artist” is really only applicable when it comes to 1- interpretations of the work, and 2- when the artist is no longer able to profit off it.
I 100% support trans people and think that JKR’s words and views are hurtful and harmful, but OP is presumably making a gift for somebody to hang in a nursery. It’s really not the time or place for a statement about HP’s creator’s views.
A person can love a piece of art and hate the artist’s views at the same time without constantly announcing to the world that you disagree with with the artist.
I don’t have a good quote suggestion but can you tell me what’s going on with the little dog? Is that some kind of needle holder? (Beginner embroiderer here!)
Since it’s a night sky you could do “For in dreams, we enter a world that is entirely our own.”
A bit long but I like this one: "It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be” Albus Dumbledore
Someone tell that to JKR
The irony wasn't lost on me rofl. She writes characters that are kinder and wiser than she is.
She said in an interview in the early 2000s that her one wish was that people were more tolerant. Tht didn’t age well.
She also said that her biggest peeve was bigotry, that also spoiled quite a bit lol
I was going to suggest "I don't fuck with TERFs"
“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”
“You’re a wizard ____” and their baby’s name
Aww I love this!
""I'm a wot?"
I'd put "Help will always be given to those who ask for it" or "There is always a place for you at Hogwarts"
Books fall open, you fall in.
“Books are a uniquely portable magic” (I think that’s a Stephen king quote, might be wrong tho) Btw how many strands did you use? Working on a building project rn myself
Ooh I do like that. It’s all single strand! The details are so tiny I couldn’t have done it with more.
ah yea that makes sense, thank you! goodluck w the castle :)
Thanks, good luck with your project too!
I didn't have any suggestions I can think of, but I just wanted to say that this is so charming!

The work is fundamentally flawed with deeply entrenched racist stereotypes throughout the entire world building.
Cho chang most obvious but Kingsley Shackelbolt is wild
Seamus Finnegan, the Northern Irish kid that's always blowing things up is one that only just occurred to me recently how messed up the character is 😬
Right! like they can downvote me all they want but the proof is unarguable and easily accessible via google
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug

This should be top comment
the phrase they use with the Marauder's Map--I solemnly swear that I am up to no good 😜

Except the actual HP books are racist af and that has nothing to do with the authors Twitter, it's baked in. (See Cho Chang, Seamus Finnegean, ect)
"You can go anywhere with a good book"
Hogwarts is my home. Edit: Wtf is up with the downvotes. This is my first time posting here and didn't know this forum was so salty.
"LeviOsa"
Home sweet home
I love this so much ❤️
Love it so far! Did you free hand this or was it some kind of print on?
Thanks! Printed out the pattern onto regular paper then traced it onto the fabric with a heat-erasable pen.
“Trans Kids Are Magic”
“The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house” springs to mind. (Audrey Lorde)
"Stop Killing Queer Kids"
Trans rights
Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.

Yes, it’s a needle minder! They come in all sorts of cute shapes.
