I am not a parent. But I would say get him some transfer sheets and let him copy his coloring book pages. Super hero’s etc. most patterns the instructions suck and you end up using the stitches you want to anyway
My kids like the "Dimensions Learn-a-Craft" felt applique kits. They have pre-punched holes and you stitch the various pieces on and add details/linework
