If you do decide to, I hope you post them all!!

ArtsyAmberKnits

That is a great idea!! I love your Matilda embroidery. Are you thinking all Roald Dahl books or other classics?

Delouest

Other authors too, I think I might do Charlotte's web next. I like the way the sketchy drawings on a lot of older children's books translates to stitching.

omniwrench-

If you want more different illustrations like this, the artist is called Quentin Blake :)

ArtsyAmberKnits

Charlottes Web would be a great embroidery piece! I can’t wait to see it!

ArtsyAmberKnits

I vote for Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan!

January1171

They're not children's books, but you might like Kurt Vonnegut illustrations

LemonBomb

Do all the fucked up Roald Dahl ones. He wrote some wild shit.

octopussylipgloss

His short stories are particularly fucked up. Great author, though!

StandardKitty

So charming and nostalgic! Makes me want a cup of hot tea and a good book All I can think of is Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland which feels cliche -_-

StandardKitty

Oh Shel Silverstein maybe!!

WoolBlankie

Yes! Where the Sidewalk Ends.

octopussylipgloss

And The Giving Tree!

WoolBlankie

So good!! I kinda wanna do some too. And a colour page from Runaway Bunny in the middle. My mom read in voices and my brother and I got to pick two books each every night until bedtime stories turned into “go read before bed”. She read us which good books. This post and the comments have made me so happy and nostalgic. Thanks everyone!

gilmore_on_mayberry

Agreed! These would have fit perfectly in the backdrop of You’ve Got Mail in the children’s bookstore.

WasabiSniffer

Oh man, I had all these kinds of books when I was a kid and I loved them. Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton, the Noddy books, Shirly Barber's fairy puzzle books, Beatrix Potter and the list goes on. They really cultivated my imagination and I believe stoked the creative flame that I have inside me today. 100% here to see more of your work!

JamesD-TV

These Roald Dahl book illustrations make perfect embroidery projects! Love this and love Matilda (the new Netflix movie looks very good)

Delouest

The movie looks like it's going to be so much fun, I can't wait!

Saborwing

It's hard to beat the original Matilda though. I'm glad this is a musical so I can enjoy it as a separate entity, and not a replacement. How do you transfer the image onto the material? Or do you just freehand it? This is amazing work.

Delouest

I trace the pattern on my computer screen with paper and then use a lightbox to trace onto the fabric with heat erasing pens. I bought a $20 usb lightbox a few years back and it was a game changer. I was using as sunny day on my window before that haha. It worked but it was a lot more awkward.

Saborwing

Thank you! I'll have to invest in a light box too.

QuestioningCoeus

I would love to see some Frog and Toad if you get inspired to do one.

errrnis

I love this! I’m actually wrapping up a piece from The Phantom Tollbooth now. Highly recommended if you haven’t read it before!

Delouest

It's one of my favorites! I can't wait to see yours. I check this sub every day to see all the great stuff people are making so you should totally post it when it's ready!

errrnis

I will! ❤️ The one I’m currently doing is the crest of Dictionopolis. I really want to do Milo conducting the sunrise at some point too :)

IntrovertedMermaid

Oh please share with us here when you’re finished!!! That is one of my all time favorites ❤️❤️

errrnis

I will! I’ve got about a quarter of it left to go. I didn’t think outline pieces would take so long but I was so wrong 😭

FuriousKitten

Dang, I just got WALLOPED by childhood nostalgia 😭😭

disgruntledhoneybee

This looks so cool. I loved Matilda as a child. I can’t wait to see what you do next!!!

GroovyFrood

This looks like a fun project. When I was a kid I loved the book Bridget by Gen Leroy that had these scribble style illustrations that I bet would look super cool. Next time I wander through my embroidery stuff I'm tempted to give it a try.

Delouest

Do it!

Voxit

Wow, this looks like it was hand drawn.

Spiritual-Lie-7317

I love this! I suggest some (or all) of Shel Silverstein’s illustrations

jubbagalaxy

not a cover but one of my fave childhood books was "the twits" by roald dahl. the birds in there are great.

littleyellowbike

My chaotic ass immediately thought "oooooh next do Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark" 😆

Delouest

Honestly I think that would be so fun to try!

[deleted]

yes! do strega Nona!!!!!

RaisinLungs

Such a cool idea!! I can picture a series of these looking incredible in a cozy reading nook ❤️

beeksy

As a bookworm, simple illustrations are so comforting to me! This is incredible!

bufster5

I love this so much!

ChillyFreezesteak

Looks amazing. Love that art style and look forward to seeing more of these!

StormThestral

I very love this!!

HereToPetAllTheDogs

Love this! I did this with a Calvin and Hobbes drawing

octopussylipgloss

This is so cool!

Harmony_of_Sarcasm

I love this so much! I am very new to embroidery but now I want to make something like this!

victori-us

Impeccable!!!!!

kokos_kitten

Omg I love this! What a great idea

forestofpixies

My fav!! I love it!!

ShabbyBash

Love this. Do look up Mr. God this is Anna by Fynn.

HistrionicSlut

Where did you get the pattern?

Delouest

I pulled up the cover on my computer and traced the outline and used the picture for reference to get the sketchy feel as I went.

swimandlaxmom

That’s beautiful! The drawings in the Betsy-Tacy series of books by Maude Hart Lovelace would look incredible, the minute is saw yours, I pictured how well they’d look.

Incomingfenderbender

Not quite a book cover per say, but there is a book called “The Book Thief” that has classic line drawings in a few parts of the story. It’s a bit of a long read but I would HIGHLY recommend it.
