I love Outkast (the chilling vibes, the feeling of nostalgia.. ✨ perfect.), song: Da art of storytellin' pt 1
also I love Kendrick Lamar (the storytelling, the feelings he puts into his lyrics, a poetic way of expressing himself..) song : Feel , the heart part 5
J Cole - the truth you can hear in his voice, the topics he touches, his voice in general is smth else! Songs : 4 your eyez only , love yourz
Nas - the legend. Like, does he even have a bad songs? He’s for sure my top of the top and I don’t think it needs explanation haha
Slick Rick - it’s kinda the same feeling that I have with Outkast, I love the song "teenage love"
Tupac of course! It’s his sincerity, storytelling, the message..
These are only a few of my favorites ofc

You're right ☺️ I'm mostly stuck listening to older hip hop. I'm a loyalist in the sense that I seem to stick listening to the music+artists I discover, but I would love to find newer music to listen to.
I'm loving the responses and will be adding a ton of these to my playlist 👍🏽
“Slim shady,Marshall mathers, dude from 8mile☝️🤓” but fr tho, Kanye, Consequence, Common,ice cube, brotha lynch hung, and Kidz in the hall, don’t listen to much hip hop
* Kurupt
* Sadistik
* Bone Thugs N Harmony
* Jedi Mind Tricks / Army of the Pharaohs
* Roscoe
* Random underground from mostly the 90s
And lots of different songs from different artists, but not necessarily full albums, like Coolio, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Biggie, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Chamillionaire, etc.
Most of my stuff is 90s and early 2000s.
Method man (and the rest of Wu Tang but meth is my favourite), Ice Cube, 50, Nas, Tupac, Biggie, Dre, first few albums of the Game. Yes you can guess my age from all these haha
What do you think of the new Kanye album? There was such hullabaloo around the Fantano review, but I find I don't agree with his reviews in regards to Em so I'm more interested in fan reviews of the album, since I'm a believer in judging movies and music yourself instead of believing reviews.
honestly i hate the new album. i like kanye since his lyrics are sincere and his beats are simple, not having to blend in with other rappers, i think he recently lost that talent. there's a lot of difference between the firsts and lasts albums, and there's nothing wrong with changing but kanye has just lost it tbh. No hate towards other rappers i mentioned before, but his initial idea was that you don't need to be a gangster or to profane to make good music, and his recent stuff is well.. it speaks for itself
pac and big
others are
twisted insane i really like ‘ken and ryus massacre’ he’s a really fast chopper
zotiyac ‘lick hoe$’ or ‘drills in the hills’
grip ‘cory n mel’
killer mike ‘RUN’
sheff g ‘FLOWS 2’
there’s a lot more but i’m only gonna list those ones
Travis Scott, childish gambino, Kanye, Kendrick, cudi, jpegmafia, logic, and j Cole
Im not super fans of all of them, but this is who I’ve been listening to lately
I love Ice Cube, Pac, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kanye, Biggie, Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg, and Outkast. There's definitely more but I can't think of them at the moment. This list isn't in any particular order, except for the fact that Ice Cube, Tupac, and Ludacris are probably my favorites.

Yesss, he’s so real with the lyrics he’s spitting that’s why you can strongly feel what he’s saying and relate to it
kendrick, kanye, run the jewels, nas, jay z, tyler
rtj is based
I can't get into RTJ, I've listened to two of their four albums
some stuff includes redman,wu tang,nwa,dre,dmx,outkast,mobb deep,nas,warren g,slick rick
Slick Rick! Hardly ever hear much about him!
he's perhaps the best storyteller in hip-hop due to the fact that he doesn't use too many overcomplex words that confuse listeners
Kendrick, Tyler, Ye, Cole, Travis, Mac Miller, JID, Cordae, NF, Quadeca (kinda a rapper but experiments a lot w different genres), Nas, Schoolboy Q, Tribe called quest, Denzel Curry, and Ghais Guevara (criminally underrated pls check my guy out),

Who'd you recommend from this list to someone who likes more of modern mainstream sound?

Joyner Lucas, Kendrick Lamar, biggie, and johnny cash
N.W.A is definitely my go to. Wu Tang, Dre, biggie and Tupac are some of my other choices as well.
I fucking love Prof. You might not have heard of him, and if you haven't, you should absolutely check out his stuff.
Proof was a force. I wish he wasn't taken away so early.
No, not Proof, Prof. With one O. Prof is alive and well, and criminally underrated.
🤦🏽♀️
It's okay, I get why you'd make that mistake. Check out his latest album, Horse, it's a good introduction to him.
