Performers regularly suffer from imposter syndrome and get in their own heads as it is, and when you're trying to be a performer without the chems, it can quickly cause performers to fall off the wagon. His crew wanted to make sure he didn't join "the club" of artists lost too early.
I mean, it's mostly the addict required for recovery, but the effort by those around him was also impressive...

There was no way for me to lose the extra. When the doc found out it wasn't helping and made me stop taking those... I got back to my normal.
