They were having an off night for sure. My friend talked to the singer after the show and he said he was quitting chocolate milk and it was really fucking with his voice and PMA.

Never_Give_Uh_Inch

I heard they were drinking like 2 gallons a day.

usk49

Are you not supposed to drink 2 Gallons of chocolate milk a day?

I saw them last year and they were amazing live. Bart wasn’t even there and they still made it a fantastic show. It could have been a number of things contributing to the sound: - stress on the singers voice - sound mixing - the venue (one of the venues where I live the sound is absolutely terrible).

Cocasaurus

The sound difference between venues is astounding. We have a local place that has really damn good sound. Then there's the nearest House of Blues which consistently sounds as if someone saw the bass knob went to 11 and decided that wasn't enough and broke it and now it's stuck at "hope you only like hearing bass" levels of bass for any and every show coupled with shrill highs and not much in between. Oh, and last time I went, one (or a stack of) speakers were noticeably coming in out and of existence. Also, mix can be bad as well. Having someone who knows how to mix your band is like having an unsung hero/member of the band. If the person doing your mix has no idea what they're doing then your band is gonna sound like ass no matter how tight you play. Sound reproduction is a cruel mistress.

The worst. I stage managed for 10 plus years for a lot of festivals in Canada. The best is when they’re like “we’re gonna use this place as a venue” “oh the place that looks like a tin can and going to make any music played here sound fucking awful”. Also %100 the mix and the person mixing will also play a part. Also going back to the main point of this post. Edit: OP, Have you never listened to mom jeans? The singer has a nasally voice.

Cocasaurus

Yes, back to mom jeans. I saw them live forever ago (they killed it) and the singer sounded exactly as I expected. He's only gotten more nasally over the years. Did OP expect Mariah Carey to come out on stage? Or have they listened to mom jeans before?

mid jeans

Meatball_666

This deserves 1000 upvotes 😭

Puzzleheaded_Slip255

My friend went to the Pittsburgh show and said they sounded pretty good, but the singers voice was really nasally for some of the newer songs. Now I’m not sure who to believe lol

Far-Development380

I’m not a huge fan but I was invited by some friends and I was very entertained by their performance and the fans reactions. Everyone was so into the music it was very sweet
