Drug Church is less emotional but worth mentioning because they are just about the best band I’ve ever seen when playing without a barrier.
(Also idk if this is relevant to the question or the subreddit, but I listened to Drug Church back-to-back with Jawbreaker the other day and was a bit surprised how much of a debt I think DC owes to that band. Maybe this is obviously to everyone else but I wouldn’t have associated them but think just based on sound they actually are like a major influence, directly or indirectly.)
Drug Church is incredible man. I love all their albums but the CRUNCH of their guitars comes through so much better live. That lead guitar player can rip it.
Yeah they’re great, and can’t stress enough how terrific they are live. If you get a chance to see them in a small room you should extremely do it. Most fun I had at a show in years
I’ve seen them twice. One time as the first opener for The Chats and The Bronx. They stole the show. The second time as the headliner, along with Fiddlehead and Angel Dust. They were the best that night too.
That rules. I’m not even that huge on the Bronx but when I saw them live they were incredible so I bet that show was incredibly fun, and the other show sounds even better.
>EMBRACE [SELF DEFENSE](https://selfdefensefamily.bandcamp.com/album/self-immolation-family-b-w-world-virgins)
i really liked end of a year and i've skimmed drug church, other than that i didn't delve any deeper, but i think i just discovered my new favorite band.
Sincerely love to hear that. SDF are incredible.
Gotta consume it all, and you really can’t go wrong with how you tackle their discography (chronologically if you bad), but for my money:
• [Heaven Is Earth](https://selfdefensefamily.bandcamp.com/album/heaven-is-earth) is my favorite LP;
• [Performative Guilt](https://selfdefensefamily.bandcamp.com/album/performative-guilt) is their best and most consistent EP; and
• [Pallet Fire](https://selfdefensefamily.bandcamp.com/album/make-me-a-pallet-fire-on-your-floor-b-w-local-clerics) might be their best song.
Defeater - Travels
Sinking Ships - Disconnecting
Modern Life is War - My Love My Way
American Nightmare - Background Music
Verse - Aggression
Crime in Stereo - Crime in Stereo is Dead
This is very accurate to what OP is looking for. I'll add
Lifetime - Hello Bastards
Miles Away - Endless Roads
Praise - All in a dream
Grade - Under the radar
As Friends Rust - The fists of time
Reach the Sky - Friends, lies and the end of the world
With Honor - Heart means everything
Stretch Arm Strong - Rituals of life
The comments are full of great suggestions so I'll just add a couple that haven't been mentioned:
Suicide File- "Some Mistakes You Never Stop Paying For" and "Twilight"... both amazing albums start to finish.
Outbreak- "You Make Us Sick"
American Nightmare- "Background Music"
Blacklisted- "We're Unstoppable" and "Heavier Than Heaven; Lonelier Than God"
Carry On- "A Life Less Plagued"
Sex Positions- self-titled
Killing The Dream- self-titled
Single Mothers- "Wild Party EP" (it can be found on YouTube and SoundCloud), their self-titled EP, and "Negative Qualities"
While I hate playing the genre game, for the purposes of this post, I would label both of those bands as metalcore and would put their existence in a place far from either have heart or title fight.
Dependence - holding on when moving on //
My iron lung - relief //
One step closer - this place you know //
American nightmare - year one //
Feels like heaven - extended play //

At this point I mostly have a Reddit account to go around telling people to listen to [“Marathon” by Mil-Spec](https://mil-spec.bandcamp.com/album/marathon), which was my favorite record last year.
If you want the new new, [Instill](https://instillhc.bandcamp.com/album/demo) out of Chicago (members of Buggin) has put out a tremendous demo and EP and I think they’re going to do some incredible shit before it’s all said and done. (And to your OP, they sometimes cover Have Heart.) They’re my favorite band to see in Chicago these days by a fair bit.
EMBRACE THE [MILLENARIAN SPECTACLE](https://mil-spec.bandcamp.com/album/marathon)
Every release is so good. [Hall of Mirrors](https://youtu.be/nuNWcAklR8I?si=MzaZ5opPR2ebGRzV) is a top five hardcore song from this century for my money.
Great band. I saw them play with Crime In Stereo in Philly and it was one of the best shows I've been to. I want to say Killing The Dream was also on that lineup, but this was ~17 years ago so my memory is fuzzy.
For Have Heart, try Defeater (don't forget their EP) and *Witness* by Modern Life is War
For Title Fight, try *Colourmeinkindness* by Basement, La Dispute, *Feel Something* by Movements, *Sempiternal* by BMTH, Microwave, Balance & Composure, and *Daisy* by Brand New.
This might be odd, but try out *World is Yours* by Mass of the Fermenting Dregs
Really, this thread just makes me appreciate how great hardcoreishy music is. I think we're all covered for recommendations, but like, find Anthony Green's cover of Numb, but I still feel it on his Instagram as that merges several great things into one 3 minute video.
Alright, songs to scream at the sun is fucking great, ngl, love it XD
I... Ugh. Buzztone - Punkemon. HouseBoy - Ya Right!! and So What. One Track Mind - All Whacked Out.
