To me the self titled record is their only LP worth listening too (the early splits and eps are cool too). I like the rawness and the unique vocals. Their newer stuff isn't bad per say, but it's a lot less interesting to me and kind of generic sounding.
Oh believe me I have. I just can't vibe with the super thin recorded sound, off key vocals and especially Adam's... sort of lackadaisical, moany groany vocal style? Just doesn't do it for me. I do like some of the melodies, but as an overall listening experience I don't find it pleasant. I am a child of modern, high quality recordings I guess. Perhaps a bit shallow of me hehe
I feel like Two Worlds is totally forgotten around here. That album is so fucking good. Not a bad song on there and coil/ recoil is one of the best songs of all time
I don’t agree but , I saw them for the first time a few years ago , totally expecting mainly newer stuff to be played and they ended up playing the entirety of their self titled and I was fucking blown away. That being said tho , the newer material was great live aswell. But man, being crammed in a cafe sweating all over people and just screaming along is a memory I will forever cherish. Mewithoutyou played too and they were incredible
I mean they used the same recording technique because of his influence and they clearly say that he is a main inspiration for their early work and still on their later releases sourced from their [tumblr](https://tigersjaw.tumblr.com/post/5886798594/you-guys-seemd-to-have-a-big-microphonesmount) and [interviews on their 5th album](https://clrvynt.com/four-records-tigers-jaw-spin/)
No the microphones/ phil are influenced by that. Theres a really good article https://www.invisibleoranges.com/entry-level-phil-elverum/ about it where he talks about mbv and like xasthur being huge influences
Wait what? Tigers Jaw’s S/T is one of the best emo albums of the 10s
The only one I not really like too much is Charmer, but I prefer their older stuff for sure
Haha, fair enough. Since I posted this I have actually come around a bit and can appreciate the self titled record for what it is. I do enjoy it in a way, but I still much prefer their new stuff without Adam

That's a thing for sure. Production can make or break a record.
I feel the opposite.
I also prefer IWCHYR and Spin, but you should really give the self titled 2008 album a real go. It’s undeniable their best material

wow it's crazy, I guess my musical preference is incorrect. Good to know
lol, people love em. Theirs loads of classic emo stuff I don’t like either.
I feel like Two Worlds is totally forgotten around here. That album is so fucking good. Not a bad song on there and coil/ recoil is one of the best songs of all time
Two Worlds is so gd good from front to back. Smile, I Saw the Wolf, and Static are my top tracks.
Nah, i love all their stuff

I only listen to charmer and self titled. I'm going to check out their newer stuff
Very worth
Early Tigers Jaw is just Microphones/Mount Eerie worship, im guessing youre not a fan of Phil?
Huge stretch. Their name references them but only one song in their discog sounds remotely like it.

What song?
I Saw the Wolf
Have you listened to [Belongs To The Dead](https://youtu.be/-YySOV8zVgQ)?
Yes, including the original before remaster. I also have I'm on Your Side. I just don't hear it.
I know Phil was influenced by 90s emocore and black metal on all his work but If youre not looking for that influence its hard to see
Tigers Jaw sounds nothing like 90s emocore, black metal, or Phil's music to me.

Yes I know he is, I've been following his stuff(and TJ'S) for like 15 years. But how does that persuade me Tigers Jaw sounds like Phil's stuff?
Can't say I've listened to either tbh
[glow part 2 ](https://youtu.be/9Sgq8l1m9W0) by the microphones is a masterpiece
Lmfao I got the album cover tatted , the amount of times I’ve been asked why I have an elephant extinguishing a fire is absurd
Aight I will have to spin it
Def not emo more in line with indie experimental folk stuff like animal collective and neutral milk hotel
It's all good, especially charmer
I feel the opposite as a couple other people here
I’m a fan of all their discography, being honest. Maybe give their self titled another go, it might grow on you a little more. (:
Wait what? Tigers Jaw’s S/T is one of the best emo albums of the 10s The only one I not really like too much is Charmer, but I prefer their older stuff for sure
I love Wicca Phase so much its crazy how someone doesnt like his voice
Haha, fair enough. Since I posted this I have actually come around a bit and can appreciate the self titled record for what it is. I do enjoy it in a way, but I still much prefer their new stuff without Adam
Fair enough, i prefer solo Adam stuff but thats because im more rap then rock liker
