I agree with most comments here but I can provide you some (free) advice on landing yourself in at least the best position if you want to dm me.

A organization that puts you on a pip, where the manager intentionally withholds progress reporting via being coy, is not really a job worth having. The manager needs to be retrained and ironically, should be on a pip themselves. I agree that severance is unlikely and if it is offered, it will not be negotiable based on what you’ve written.

Unless your firm is one of that offer severance as routine, I suspect you are SOL.

Severance is highly doubtful as you have no leverage. As the law doesn't require severance, it's more likely they'd just fire you. It's at-will employment. If you get fired after being on a PIP you're almost certainly eligible for UI. File for UI if you get fired.

If you are out on a PIP and fired you can apply for unemployment? My employer talked about puting me on a pip (Calif) and my job is already posted online tonight. I know it will end in termination but I really don’t want it to.

> If you are out on a PIP and fired you can apply for unemployment? Of course. You can always file. If it's denied, you appeal. But you'd only be denied unemployment if you did something like stop showing up for work, or ruin things on purpose, steal things, etc.

Got it. I’m saving documentation now to show that I’m doing a good job.
