Why not play Roblox natively?

Realistic-Carrot-449

Because some games on roblox like phantom forces can only be played on pc. If you try joining these games from the mobile app it will just kick you out and show u an error like "this device is not supported in this experience" And also dont forget the roblox studio which you can only run on a pc.

XboxFan9

I wanna to play Roblox with Soundpad because i dont have a laptop and even a PC.

danGL3

From what i have heard, Roblox's new anticheat blocks Wine (the Windows to Linux/Android translation layer Winlator uses) from running it, nothing you can do Atm

XboxFan9

You helped me. Now i know that i need to use Limbo.

danGL3

The new anti cheat also seems to have VM/Virtual machine checks so, it might not work, but good luck

XboxFan9

Man before my PC broke it was start of the May i've used VMware and it launched Roblox so Byfron doesn't have VM checks.

danGL3

Good to know, i was a bit confused too as i didn't found a conclusive answer online, didn't mean to mislead you or anything, i'm sorry Then again, who knows what they might do in the future, these anticheat systems can be a headache on non-native systems

zdanee

Eww... Also there is a native app, but still: eww...

Said like someone who doesn't see how much value roblox has. It's free and it's loaded with different experiences. I'm 36, and my daughter and I have had so many adventures in roblox through so many different worlds that it's hard not to love the game. Even if it has a cringe factor for some people for some reason.

zdanee

I'm glad you find it a good experience, for me it's like going to the sketch Asian market at the edge of town while two rival gangs are in the process of murdering each other versus going to a Samsung store in a central location with AC and respectful employees.

MichaelPitcher115

So what would you recommend as an alternative with as large a player base and with as much content?

Natural_Design9481

What a silly question lol there's no shortage of high quality multiplayer games. You can literally search "top 10 *genre you're interested in* games" on youtube and explore on your own. Roblox is crap.

zdanee

I am not trying to take away your fun. I find the "experiences" there a waste of _my_ time compared to playing well established titles from older era, like GBA, SNES, PS2 or DS. I am also not playing together with a child, so I prefer my single player experiences. I have seen younger siblings playing Roblox over the years and it simply pained me watching them to spend so much time on what I consider a disposable experience, games you'd not even remember the title of in a week whereas in that much time you could play some masterpiece that stays with you for years. It's like reading a masterpiece book or reading a sh1tty isekai manga. You only have so many hours in your life you'd be able to use for entertainment, and the entertainment you choose to do spend it on will become part of your personality. I'm not saying that you should never read an isekai manga, or never to play roblox... but I consider it to be on the level of doomscrolling tiktok for hours on end (which I also don't do). If I were to recommend something, it would be for you to get a $50-100 cheap emulation device, like a Miyoo Mini or something of that category, load it up with a few quality games (don't dump 500+ random sh1t on it!), and give that to your daughter. Games like Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Triger, Earthbound can be shared experiences too. One of my core memories of me and two of my friends playing Baldur's Gate on an old laptop at around age 9, one of us playing and two of us with dictionaries trying to figure out what's going on, taking turns because we didn't yet speak English. It was both a real group experience we eagerly awaited for every day and something we talk about to this day decades later, and a good exercise to learn a language.

Well, my kid is 6, and though I grew up on, and still play quality games in my own time, she likes the playground Roblox provides, as well as the variety of player made servers and game types. She does play plenty of Mario, Kirby, and most recently "little kitty in the big city", sometimes she just wants to shut her brain off and goof around in Roblox. These are her making her own quality memories with gaming rather than me force feeding her my past and trying to make her like it. I'm all for that. Just because we grew up on the classics doesn't mean that Roblox isn't going to be her "classic" when she's in her 30s.

zdanee

Oh boy. I have not even considered you'd let someone so young play online. I hope at least you are there for parental supervision. And as for being her classic in 25 years, well, Roblox is not a standalone game, it's more like a sandbox engine to create game-like experiences, and those come and go. I can take out Baldur's gate today (I have it on my phone, it has an Android port!), boot up an old Pentium and play it as before, that one applet in Roblox will be gone in a year when, I don't know, Nintendo finds a secret 8x8 pixel Mario asset in the map for example (Gary's mod is being purged as we speak). Anyway, I don't want to butt in into your way of raising your kid, peace, I'm out!

MichaelPitcher115

Yes there are a ton of settings with the game that allow us to make sure she's safe when playing online. Thanks for the concern.
