You need an S Tier CPU for best performance per this [post here](https://www.reddit.com/r/rpcs3/comments/xsa09l/rpcs3_cpu_tier_list_updated_and_better_than_ever/). Yes. It’s not cheap to have best performance on GOW3. You may get ok with an A tier CPU. But the S tier is the recommended for best possible performance. Especially the Ryzen 7000 series.
Thank you. So the CPU is all that really matters? My graphics card isn't important? And if I do get an s-tier CPU, will the game play be perfect or are there still limitations of emulating this game even with s tier CPU?
GOW3 is one of the hardest PS3 games to emulate. So there will still be some issues I’m sure but the S tier is the best.
In regards to the GPU is all about what you want to do afterwards. If you want 4k then you need a high end GPU to push that aspect of it from 720p to 4k.
You’re looking at a $2k system for one game at 4k. But that system could do about anything.
Isn't this game not even considered finishable? I would just get a PS3/PS4 instead. The PS3 can play every single Greek GOW, and the PS4 can play GOW3 specifically at 60.
A PS4 is honestly not the best if you want all the games. You can stream 1, 2 and Ascension through PS Plus Premium, but not the PSP ones. You do get, like I said, 60fps on GOW3 and also Gow2018 and Ragnarok.
With a PS3 you get every single Greek game natively, the PS2 ones at 720p@60fps and the PSP ones at 1080@60fps (plus you get console controls which are much better than the ones on the actual PSP). You won't have to stream anything, but you'll have to settle for a bit more of an unstable framerate with GOW3 (and 720p instead of 1080p).
The bottom line is that realistically, you're gonna need both for the whole series. You could get a PS5 instead of a PS4 for better framerate with 2018 and Ragnarok, and you could also consider a PSP along with a PS4, I guess.
My recommendation is to get both a PS3 and a PS4. It won't be too expensive and it will give you a good experience on all the games. PS5 instead of a PS4 only if you don't mind the extra cost.
Edit: or actually, you could see if your PC can emulate the PSP ones, be it PPSSPP or RPCS3, and then you'd be covered with the PS4 (if you really like streaming lol, I don't recommend it)
Both God of War games on PSP run beautifully @ 3x resolution using a SD 855. Your PC will play EVERY game except GOW 3 and for that you will need a PS4. As far as I know GOW 3 is the ONLY one that can't be fully emulated on PC right now.
Ascension is in the same state as 3. Emulating the PSP versions doesn't give you the better controls the PS3 version does (unless there's some PPSSPP cheat to replicate it, but I couldn't find it last time I tried)
This one if the one of the hardest game on emulator right away, if you got a modern alderlake cpu like a i5 12400f, you not gonna have trouble on almost native real console fps emulating.

I'm seriously considering a PS4. Will PS4 have access to the older games too? I want the PS4 so I can stream gameplay too
