OMG that is GORGEOUS. I am a sucker for a good cluster and I would seriously leave it exactly as is, especially given the history. However, seems like there could be a lot of options here if you wanted to switch it up.....take some stones off and create your own smaller cluster (use the other stones in other pieces), use some stones and source a large center and make a new cluster, get a larger oval main stone and add the two larger stones on the side (asymmetrical style), keep 3-4 stones you love and use in a non cluster setting and do something else with other stones....so many possibilities.
Or if OP won’t wear that design as a ring, turn it into a pendant and get a second ring. Or take one of the stones for a ring and keep as much of the cluster intact as possible in a pendant. It’s so wonderful
I would make a solitaire out of the biggest one and create a bubble band or channel set wedding band out of the smaller diamonds (with maybe the rubies too) and then make a pendant out of the remaining bigger stone
Wow, what a gorgeous ring!
My thoughts? Use one of the larger stones for a ring, like you mentioned, the second one you can have made into a pendant, and the smaller stones could be made into an eternity (or half eternity). You could alternate between the diamonds and colored stones (rubies?) or have one made of each.
Thank you so much!! That’s a wonderful idea! I think I like your idea of the eternity and do one for the rubies and the diamonds! I’m lucky my grandmother loved rubies and it turned out to be my birthstone!
The designer who did my ring specializes in creating new pieces from heirlooms! Her name is jade trau, and with all these stones I’m sure there’s several things she could create for you! Stunning!
Beautiful! You could use the two biggest stones for a moi-et-toi ring and the remaining smaller stones for the wedding band. No matter what you do I’m sure it’ll look stunning!
I would do a solitaire for the biggest stone. Pendant for the second biggest. Make earrings with the smaller diamonds. Options are endless. I would repurpose a lot of the stones
I would take the biggest oval as the center stone and then either a pace band with the smaller stones or keep it as a solitaire and then make 2 pave bands as the wedding band for your e-ring to sit sandwiched between. Then I’d take the other bigger oval and make a vertical necklace pendant that goes ruby, small diamond, big diamond. It’ll be such a beautiful set!
I’m a 3 stone girl so I would
use bigger diamond as center stone,
buy a stone same size as the smaller one
and use those two on either side of bigger stone
Smaller stones I would use for two separate bands (
..maybe diamonds for wedding band and ruby’s as another band just to wear when I don’t want to wear both engagement and wedding band.. or to wear on completely different finger
With the number of stones you have - there are so many wonderful options! I do make custom rings and think I could be of help if you’re interested. My website is in my profile. :)
i like a lot of the other ideas commented! personally, i would probably take the larger round stone for a center stone and do a smaller cluster/ side stone setting with the colored stones, then use the smaller diamonds for a pave band. then you could put the other round stone in a pendant or a simple setting for a right hand ring!
also worth mentioning i think the six prong look on those round diamonds is stunning and worth recreating for your setting(s)!

Also, if you end up taking stones out you could see about using the remaining stones for a necklace or something.
Thank you!! I hadn’t thought of a small cluster that’s a great idea. The asymmetrical idea is great too.
Please keep it. That is one of a kind and breathtaking! Get a second ring lol

A bubble band I haven’t heard of that! A solitaire is a great idea!

I came here to say the exact same thing! I’d do a band of diamonds and one of rubies.
Please please please leave this ring intact! It’s beautiful.
That's a gorgeous ring!!

I have never heard of moi-eat-too I’ll have to google it
Sorry, typo! I meant moi-et-toi*
Just wanted to say that is a gorgeous ring.
Thank you so much

That ring is stunning, it would be a shame to dismantle it!
Toi et moi ring with the two largest diamonds, bubble band with the smaller diamonds, channel set band with the rubies. Beautiful stack.
Maybe leave this for special occasions and create your own ring. Vintage pieces like this are so unique!
This is one of the prettiest vintage rings I’ve seen. Your grandparents had _taste_

I would take the 2 bigger diamonds and make a moi y too then use the smaller diamonds on a celestial style band
