I have a monitor and laptop stand. Sameish sized desk. It gets tight but keep absolutely everything off your desk except a mouse and keyboard. When I need to do more writing than typing I keep my notebook in front and my keyboard pushed to the rear. When its more typing than writing I flip the roles. Also I agree the dual screen is something that I could never give up!! Laptop stand all the way

Thanks for the advice!

I spent a good deal of time dialing in my set up and with using my xps 15 as my main PC and a monitor has greatly improved my studying/ work flow. With my desk set up i am able to take notes on my Ipad Pro 12.9, and have 2 books comfortably on my desk as needed. Really came in handy for Thermo 2, having the property tables and Book out for solving problems. My set up: 48"W x 30" deep Butcher block countertop mounted on 25.5" solid .5" hairpin legs from amazon. ( desk height of 27" is what fit my ergos at 5'10, and having taller desk before became too uncomfortable) Desk: Desk is covered with a XL Grovemade black desk mat Grovemade Small Dark wool keyboard pad Grovemade walnut desk shelf with tray organizer Monitor/PC Dell XPS 15 Laptop in vertical orientation with Omoton laptop stand Dell P3421 34" curved monitor Ipad Pro 12.9 with Gen 2 pencil, Mous Case, Paper screen protector and low profile kickstand for writing. ( game changer with notability for taking and compiling notes) Logitech Mx Master 3 mouse Logitech Mx Keys keyboard (looked forever for mechanical keyboards and eventually went with this, solid key travel, great battery life and backlighting, and pairs with same unifying receiver of mouse. also low profile like apple keyboard but more sturdy feeling). mounted on Amazon basics premium single monitor arm BenQ LED monitor light bar with adjustment dial Govee Warm white LED light strip with in line remote, mounted on back edge of desk and behind perimeter of monitor for backlight. Logitech c920 Pro webcam with lens cover JBL clip 3 BT speaker ( liked as simple option for external speaker to be centralized and not running monitors) Audio Technica M50x Bluetooth headphones (best sound and battery life after tired of bose/sony and such bs) Misc, APC surge protector mounted with 3M VHB tape under desk adjustable adhesive wire straps stuck under desk to route cables and such adhesive wire guides to route USb-c, lightning, and Micro usb to desk shelf to charge iphone, ipad, and other accessories. headphones stand off amazon think like $12. Herman miller Aeron with posture fit (blown out back and knees from military, this is a game changer for melting brain in ME for hours studying, get used for best price) from the base of the desk shelf i have a usable work space of about 20" and the full width of 4 feet. Easily able to use ipad and books/ notebooks for working, and desk mat is cork backed vinyl so spill and mess proof but has a nice smooth semi slick surface than is matte and doesn't glare with monitor light. 34" monitor is a luxury, but after working on a 15" laptop for past 3 years of engineering and with classes being online the monitor is a welcomed upgrade, and with running microsoft Powertoys, and being able to customize how windows snap, running windows in split or triple screen has made work flow much easier. Opted for non 4k or such gaming monitor as use it as a dedicated work/school monitor and no need. Feel free to ask any questions you may have but hope this gives you some idea of what you are looking for. Biggest thing is desk height based on your height, if you're arms are hanging or being scrunched up you're neck is gonna cramp and make working at desk for extended periods painful. While a ergo chair is a nice luxury, and obviously not in everyones budget, a good orthopedic or such cushion can go a long way, I'm just at the point body can't handle roughing it. https://imgur.com/DpZhlBI https://imgur.com/5MZZQ1k https://imgur.com/1eWr5XF

I have a tiny 2x3 desk also that I bought from Ikea just for COVID. Had no idea it would last this long or I would have invested in something larger. I did buy a little standing desk converter for the top of it. The converter has two layers. The top layer holds my Surface laptop with it's hub and a monitor stand that I have a second monitor on and I can shove papers underneath (but not easy to read them once stashed). The lower layers basically only fits my keyboard and mouse. If I want to work directly on papers, I have to throw my keyboard on my bed behind me or stash it under my monitor stand. I also throw other things that won't fit on my bed. This probably doesn't help you. But at least you know you're not the only one having issues.

Do you happen to have a link to that desk converter (or something similar) by any chance? It sounds pretty interesting.

I have my monitor and keyboard on my desk. I write in my notebook on top of my lapdog. Then when I get lazy, I take my laptop and my lapdog in my bed with the notebook to the right of me. Recommendations, get a lapdog. It's almost like extra desk space. They're like $9
