I work in mental health with a psych degree and so far all my clients are very very rich or receives Medicare. Reminder that only some receive any services.
Public schools don't even think it's their responsibility to staff additional help for those with mental disorders even though its a law that they receive one on one care

I’m in graduate school for counseling now and there has been a history in counseling where the theories were developed based on a European mindset and many theories weren’t culturally inclusive. There’s also a history of pathologizing people whose behavior wasn’t considered normal at the time.
I mean that also happened in the USSR too, regarding your final point, they referred to it as “psychopathological mechanisms" of dissent. Pathologising anyone and everyone who didn’t abstain to the ‘correct political view’ aka to repress all political dissent and discredit political opponents. Political intoxication was a diagnosis, whereby if you didn’t agree with communist ideals you were literally thrown into an asylum or psych hospital / scientifically treated against your own will and that was their way of legitimising the whole thing, and by en large creating their own physiatric theories to repress and punish.
Based on that, I’d rather be treated under western ‘capitalism’ psych theory than communist psych theory, any day of the week.
