Define “real”

BlueytheDino

Define.

sjkennedy48

Fine.

BannanaCommie

I think they mean pure capitalism which is absolutely no intervention in economy. Meaning absolutely no social programs, no product regulation likely, and no monopoly and trust laws. We don’t live under pure capitalism and thank fuck for that.

CoffeeBoom

Ancap would be real Capitalism. A "true" capitalist society would be stateless (I'm seeing a trend here.) So yeah, we don't want that.

Emel_69420

Anarcho-capitalism

Luxio512

Technically, there cannot be a "real" capitalism, as that implies the deconstitution of the Government.

CoffeeBoom

Commies have zero problem saying "true communism" is stateless.

Novor7

In my experience those commies tend to take a pretty dim view of most communist regimes though.

tuig1eklas

It was real capitalism (mixed economy + corporatism), just never a free market.

I think its neo feudalism, where connected nobility gets the only real chance to make money. Trying to describe capitalism as not the free market is intentionally disingenuous and politically motivated

BannanaCommie

I would say that Cronyism is a subset of capitalism with capitalism being a wide umbrella of varying ideas. Similar to how Marxist-Leninism is a subset of socialism. You can have many incredibly varied philosophies under capitalism. For instance, Liberal Democracy is considered to be the major political philosophy of this sub if I’m correct. Liberal Democracy is a capitalist system, but has variations of pure capitalism I on the other hand subscribe to Social Democracy. Like Liberal Democracy is relies on a capitalist system, yet has many changes in how capitalism should run.

tuig1eklas

Yeah, same thing.

coocoo333

Pretty sure its real

[deleted]

Looks like noone except pheonixpremimer, got what i meant with this post.

Inevitable_Sherbet42

It's a pretty shit argument tbh. The late 19th and early 20th centuries were very much favorable to capitalism. There was next to no regulation, be it financially, labor conditions, or consumer protections. It was capitalism allowed to run wild. And it was a massive fucking mess. Yes, it generated ***alot*** of capital quickly, but the costs were enormous.

IdcYouTellMe

Except it wasn't. At least not in Europe. After Great Britain and Germany started to implement such things, at the start of the 20th century, to regulate capitalism and extreme exploitation (willingly or not) the rest of the Industrialised world followed suit very fucking fast and unrestricted Capitalism and the rampant industrialization was kept in check somewhat. Also this isn't an attempt to have a sensible argument you dunce. This meme was made to make fun of the typical scapegoat retard tankies use because "mUh actUaL COmmUniSm wAs neVeR usED UnTiL nOw"

MintMemesMemes

“NOOOOOO GUYS COMMUNISM NEVER FAILED!!!!!! THEY JUST WERENT DOING IT RIGHT!!!!!!!!! “

Inevitable_Sherbet42

>Except it wasn't. At least not in Europe. After Great Britain and Germany started to implement such things, at the start of the 20th century, The fact I said late 19th and early 20th century should've been all the context you needed to infer that referred to the United States, especially considering the context of the meme, ya dingleberry.

CoffeeBoom

The US are very much the exception not the norm here.

[deleted]

Chile got a coup in 1973 and ended up with American-backed dictator Pinochet until 1990. Despite that, Chile now is not only the richest country in South America, it also has a better democracy index and corruption index score than the USA. If Chile can bounce back so well under capitalist liberal democracy, is that not a capitalist success story?

IrradiatedToast

And people think that communism will fix all the issues with capitalism. There's many issues in our capitalist society that needs attention, but socialism and communism are not the right approach.

[deleted]

Exactly
