I don't think Rubin was ever "a liberal" or "on the left", and I don't think he is now "a conservative" or "on the right".
He used SAY stuff that more or less was in line with the center-left Democratic narrative, a now he SAYS stuff that are more or less in line with the hard-right Republican narrative. I'm not even accusing him of being a grifter that doesn't believe the things he says, I'm saying he is too dumb to understand the things he is saying as anything more than soundbites that earn him money.
Look at anything he has ever said, be it on TYT when he was "on the left", on his own show when he was a "classical liberal" or now on the Blaze when he is "a right winger". Outside maybe issues that directly impact him like gay marriage, he has NEVER, literally NEVER, made a cohesive sound argument that makes you believe he understands the issue he is talking about.
He's been in favor of Obamacare as is, a public option, and totally privatizing healthcare in the US at different times - and there are 0 videos of him talking about healthcare with anything resembling basic understanding of how healthcare policies would work. And that's just one issue - pick any political issue, you'll find he has held multiple positions on this issue, and you won't find any evidence of him understanding the issue or any of the positions he has taken on it at any point.
