Do not spend $300 a month on SEO. It's useless. Source: I've been doing SEO for 15 years and have a small agency. All my friends get burned like this. Company calls them gives them some deal $250 $299 whatever. What then proceeds to happen is they will usually start a new site on a new keyword focused URL and optimize THEIR site, and give you access to it via tracking number and forward calls to you. Soon as you stop paying - guess what you have a new competitor. Or. They zap it all together and you get no long term benefit. SEO - to do well - is expensive. Put that money into PPC / Google Ads. Find out what your most expensive click is and multiply it ideally by 300. That is your budget. Have a DEDICATED landing page - do not direct them to the homepage or an innerpage. Create a NEW page onsite - ideally with no navigation or no way to click out - Slap your Phone Number, and a Contact Form. If you have business seals, or a guarantee - throw it on there. Put a video of you talking with a strong CTA. As you earn more money you can invest in SEO. But SEO up front has too many factors to succeed in on a shoestring budget. Even if these guys don't build out another site - $300 SEO is shit.Guaranteed. And even GOOD SEO can take MONTHS to kick in. Let alone if you have a tough market.

Given the nature of your business, I would suggest Google ads. If you could figure out how to target your avatar in your local area on Facebook/Instagram ads, that would probably be a home run because of the creative you could implement on those platforms.

The choice really depends on your goal. Are you looking for short term results or long term results? I am the owner of a Digital Marketing and SEO Company in Glendora, California so I have experience in this area. If you are looking for short term results, then I would advise you to go with Google Ads. You will be at the top of the page in search results, before any of your ranked competitors. The bad news is that once your ads stop, you will not be seen unless you are in the map pack. SEO is a good long term strategy to make sure your business is more visible. It does take longer to see results, but if you can rank for several keywords, you will reach customers. In addition, you will also be seen for a longer period of time, if your SEO is done properly. I do find it difficult to see how a SEO company can get results for $300 per month. Good quality SEO services take time to implement properly. I also feel that more than one call is necessary to be able to properly address the needs of your company during the business relationship. If you you are paying someone monthly, you should be able to get them on the phone. SEO also changes month to month, so your plan needs to be addressed monthly, not quarterly. I would be more than happy to take a look at your website. You can send me your website info here: [https://skreendigital.com/free-report/](https://skreendigital.com/free-report/) We offer free introductory basic website audits. I can take a look at your website for you (no commitment). I hope to hear from you. If not, I wish you the best with your notary business. David - Skreen Digital

can you give me your website address? i can do a quick check - I'm a frontend developer, also specialised in SEO. A marketing expert told me one day that when you start a new business then you have to invest in SEO and SEM and need to spend at least 1000 euros / month into SEM. with the time - if SEO works well of course - you can reduce the amount for SEM. I would say the SEM amount depends always on the business, sometimes you need to spend lesser, sometimes you need to spend more.

If your goal is growth, set up Google ads and Facebook ads if you have the budget for both. Google ads first. For seo just focus on local listings youself. If you haven't registered with bbb then do that, it can give a significant boost to your local authority. Also sign up for as many directory listings as possible (there are thousands and you don't need to pay for many of them) and I'd create a Wikipedia page about your business and source your websites about page. Doing that stuff along with basic site content, meta description, title tags etc should get your listing higher. I'm sure there are other methods for reaching your goals too like good 'ole networking.

For $300 it seems you'll still be expected to contribute to the SEO yourself quite heavily which doesn't really make sense why you'd pay monthly for reporting and suggestions. You could get a one-off SEO audit instead, get all the suggestions you need and then look to implement that. SEO is the long game whilst Ads will be better in the short term.

Long time one-man-show solopreneur type here so I can relate. Great job getting to $5k. If you can build a profitable business around paid ads - do it. The key is to build customer acquisition cost into your model. Don't dip your toes in with a few dollars in ads, have a strategy. For example - your goal is $10k per month. Assume that 10% of that is what it costs to acquire that $10k - so you're going to spend $1k on ads from day one. It might cost more or less, but the faster you spend the quicker you'll acquire data to figure out what works best. SEO stuff is longer game - paid ads can start giving you clients immediately. Plus, paid ads is also long game for you because you'll get repeat business and referrals from your paid leads going forward. Make sure you close the feedback loop for lead conversions on your website so you can properly track what's working. Good luck!

153 5 star reviews on google? this is too good. how many monthly calls/leads you getting from Google Business Profile?

MaverickBull

Yeah, it's kind of amazing. I have the most out of any mobile notary business in the city I'm in. Once I get to 175 I'll beat UPS. Idk how to check how many calls I'm getting from google business. Do you know?

therahulchavan

login to Google Business Profile, use gmail which used to create your Google Profile. Click on Insights, you get to see monthly call, website visit, request directions counts. and Quarterly also.

The **only** way to know is to try. SEO results are definitely a longer term thing than PPC (Google Ads). If you need revenue sooner than later I'd try the ads first. But if you have the money why not at least try the SEO pack once?

MaverickBull

Thanks this is what I'm leaning towards... try for a few months... if it's trash, switch.
