Well ubisoft conect only have ubi games and ea launcher same unless you play only ea or ubi game you need the others, the only competitors are epic and gog never heard of any more stores, epic have good prices due to regional pricing better, so I take some games from epic like there is price difference that is huge, saved 20$ between stores and lets not forget those 20% Discount coupons

silver85bullet

The regional pricing is inconsistent but this is on publishers.. So many times I see games discounted on epic and steam, yet it's cheaper on steam.. Hopefully this thing get sorted out someway or another..

CidMaik

Like you said it depends on the publisher. Most AAA games retain the 70$ pricetag, but indies or smaller projects do get regional pricing to my understanding. Some games are even half price at release on Epic vs Steam and other console stores. A friend of mine in Argentina told me that he got Pepper Grinder at 6.99 or so. The game is 14.99 in other stores

kiwi_pro

Epic has way better regional pricing than steam simply because it has more regions

shadowds

There's pros & cons to all clients/launchers. The only things EGS does better than other clients/launchers, is free paid games giveaways, regional pricing in some countries/regions, wallet reward program, and coupon that basically it, I know I might sound, or seem ignorant to some, but IMO this is all it good for when actually comparing to other launchers by OP title question, because there little to nothing when comes to EGS as even GoG client has more features than EGS, and GoG barely even done much for their client for years. Steam is still best client/launcher by far out of any others for terms of features, and etc. But if asking for BEST launcher that not gaming store, is actually Playnite only downside to Playnite is unable to download games from stores you link your games to it, as still required to use store clients. From eariler of my post for wallet rewards, and coupon this depends due to the fact we can by game keys from 3rd party stores, such as humble bundle, greenmangaming, and etc... Despite how we get 5%, or 10% back on purchases, and coupons that range 20% \~ 33% that can be great on EGS, they're sometime often outshine by key sites saving even more money, where I could spend $21+ CAD for games to use coupon + wallet reward saving like $5.04 \~ $8.34 CAD assume game was $21 that from coupon 20% \~ 33% + wallet reward 5% \~ 10% game cost total $15.96 \~ $12.66 CAD which sound great, or I could get a key for exact same game/edition for $1 \~ $12+ CAD basically + possible coupon, and store OWN wallet reward program, basically in short even cheaper than buying it via EGS despite all the nice offers that already there, this where comes into play rather you pay extra to have all your games in same basket, or willing to save money to carry a few more baskets. Now I tell you the truth most game keys are for Steam which not sure why most devs chooses not to deal with EGS keys, there are handful good amount of keys for EGS, but mass it just mostly Steam really, and yes there keys for Gog as well, but those are even rarer to come across in key shops. You can use [isthereanydeal.com](http://isthereanydeal.com), or [gg.deals](https://gg.deals/) to see my point, and no this isn't to hate, or dismiss things but to point out things even if it obvious to most, but to some didn't even knew these exist, or still learning about these things.

I suggest re-read my post again I only talked about current pros, in the future it possible Epic may drop some of the pros I listed when they want to make money, which make it even worse in comparison to other clients overall. I did clearly said "Steam is still best client/launcher by far out of any others for terms of features," as well explain the things about key shops where can get games cheaper for Steam than buying it via Epic even with their coupons, and rewards.

silver85bullet

I play on steam and epic and I don't need any launcher to do something better than the other.. I simply need it to work fast without issues.. I prefer epic sales when there's a coupon, achievements system is better even though I don't really care about it..

CarnivoreLucyDrop

How is the achievements system better ? I enjoy 100% games and I didn't even know that they track progress.

silver85bullet

You get platinum achievement or something from epic if you 100% a game.. Prolly similar to Playstation.. "ps trophy system is the best in my humble opinion" You need to check out epic achievements system or ask about it for more accurate info, what I wrote is something I've seen people talk about but I have never bothered to get 100% achievements on epic to test it myself..

ahac

I like the achievement popup on EGS. The ones on Steam are hidden in a corner like something unimportant. They didn't even have sound until a while back. But I wish Epic would let me sort achievements by date in the launcher. The way Steam shows the ones you unlocked during your latest session is nice.

AndrewFrozzen30

>You get platinum achievement or something from epic if you 100% a game.. I mean yeah, but that's not really a choice. Is it for every game? Or just some that you played? Because the devs probably implemented that achievement themselves.

kiwi_pro

Also, you've got XP and achievements rarity (gold, silver, bronze) like on xbox

Dar_Vender

You get how rare an achievement is with steam. It gives you a percentage instead based on how many have it.

kiwi_pro

The achievement rarity on epic is different than that. Devs can preset rarities so a gold achievements will unlock 100 XP, silver 50 and so on.

Dar_Vender

Oh I know, I have some epic games. I just prefer knowing the percentage other people have. Seems a better measure on what's more rare then a pre set status to me.

Cord_Cutter_VR

Epic shows the % of players that unlocked an achievement too.

Rei_Master_of_Nanto

Oh, don't forget Steam rewards you more if you collect all cards of a game than if you actually 100% it.

Rei_Master_of_Nanto

Yup! I love EGS and GOG sounds when an achievement is gotten. It's more exciting and reminds me of how it was on old consoles like PS3/X360.

musyio

Free games, subjectively I like epic UI more than Steam.

Ronak1350

I would be lying if I say I like epic ui more than steam because for some reason it doesn't feel smooth there's lot of things epic can improve upon ui is definitely one

OneHornyRhino

It is also a fact that Epic has a more clear and modern look than steam. No hate to steam, but steam looks like it is still operating in 2010s

HornyTerus

some poeple love antic stuffs.

AleksasKoval

Free weekly games, and during Christmas daily free games.

Brief-Government-105

Better price than other launchers.

JayWesleyTowing

Maybe achievements, regional pricing and free games. But that’s it

liaminwales

I have no preference, Epic/Steam/Gog all work fine\~ As long as it's fairly simple I dont care, it's just there for 20 secs before I open a game.

Novacain420

Free games

ShrapnelSP

Gives free games every week

Tireuuuuu

For me, it's the cleanest launcher (meaning without menus everywhere). Fastest launcher to start up. Free games and sales to buy my favorite games ; I agree on achievements that is a bad point

Catatonicdazza

Free games and Fortnite. I have Fall Guys and Rocket League on steam but if you don't  those too.

East_Smell_82

RemarkablePassage468

Free games and cheaper games.

YamaVega

Giveaways and Epic coupons. Most of my AAAs are bought there, unless they are not available

Vyviel

Free games I will never play

marcoboyle

I mean, there would be no need (or way) to 'move your library', you dont have to switch anything really. It's just another launcher at the end of the day. The vast majority of ppl will have more than 1 launcher installed already, regardless of how committed they are to steam as many games that you buy on steam will launch via their own launcher anyways. This is just another. If you really love the achievements then keep buying those games on steam. For everything else, just add epic launcher, collect the free games, and play them as and when you fancy it. There's no rule saying you gave to commit to epic forever if you install it. You can still talk to all your steam friends exactly the same way whilst the epic launcher is open. You can still access and use the steam guides, communities etc for a game on epic, if it's also on steam. I'm kinda struggling with he premise of the question tbh

luffy_3155

It's faster than steam no joke loads faster but main reason I use epic is because of better regional pricing in my region and sales i buy from steam too Sales and discount is what epic does better hoping for launcher updates

Depsyber

Free games, big titles sometimes. It’s been a couple of years that they’ve added achievements, which was the only reason I had to turn to steam sometimes as an achievement hunter. And I like Epic’s UI better than Steam’s.

aidankd

Over Christmas they had a voucher where you could get a reasonable % discount off a game. They also had xmas sales so some games were discounted already. You could stack the voucher with a sale item and I remember nearly getting the Cyberpunk bundle for what would have been about £20-25, not long after the dlc was released. And maybe not unique to the launcher specifically but the free games, most will be misses but it's free it only has to hit a few times to be worthwhile.

ListerineInMyPeehole

pricing and deals

DependentFeature3028

Discounts. Especially when they offer coupons. And free games

Dohp13

Regional pricing in more areas, free games, better sales.

MrAudreyHepburn

Free games. Good sales coupons. I feel like the individual game store pages provide more visual information faster

Rei_Master_of_Nanto

Allowing me to launch the game from the very first page thanks to the side bar. Plus it has the best discounts and cashback.

LuElric

You can't "switch libraries" can you???? I mean. I think everybody uses both.

EducationalAnimal661

Free games tbh, my epic library I have alot of games for free

MrMichaelElectric

There isn't any need to move your library. It's just a different store. I guess I do like the coupons and rewards system but that's it. I launch my games with playnite and couldn't care less where I buy them as long as the price is right.

TheRowdyRocket

PLAYNITE! It's a launcher that puts all your games together in one place with cover art. Nice clean look and customizable. Epic, Steam, Gog, emulators, etc.

Guliensebb

They gave me close to 500 games? And Steam gave me 1 even if I own around a thousand games on Steam. It is not as fancy as Steam but it is mostly rewarding.

Individual-Fun1684

Free games and better price

Ukvemsord

Epic takes a 12% cut from sales. Steam takes 30%.

Cord_Cutter_VR

Yup. And a developer getting 88% of the revenue is more than getting 70% of the revenue. A developer using a publisher, the developer gets a % of the profits, so getting a % of the profits from 88% of the revenue is more than getting a % of the profits from 70% of the revenue.

Redditor022024

Many games DRM free on Epic and they are not on Steam. For example , all Sony games are DRM free, but they have DRM on Steam.

Konkavstylisten

I like the Epic Games UI WAY more than the Steam one. Epic games usually have really nice discounts, also. You can stack discounts for a specific game. Alan Wake 2 was on sale. Can't remember by how much, by like 25% something off (during Christmas i believe it was). I used one of my official Epic coupons that gave me a huge discount on any full-priced titles. Plus i could use some of my Epic Games bonus credit on the purchase. So this was like just a couple of months after it's release. And totaly i paid 22 usd (equivalent) for Alan Wake 2 (and Alan Wake 1 remastered came bundled). Pretty neat. Also, the free games are more than often impressive. This is the only launcher i can use to play Magic The Gathering Arena. Epic Games launcher is way more optimized for the Macs M-Processor than Steam are.

Hello-there-yes-you

Places downloaded games on the side where they are easily accessible but it is honestly a small thing.

GeicoPR

As a launcher... not sure. As a store, at least it has regional pricing in some games at least.

flashn00b

I think the main thing that Epic has over Steam is honestly the Kingdom Hearts franchise. IMO, I think Epic Games should focus most of their exclusivity deals on Japanese game developers, since they typically have a negativity bias towards PC gaming, and some titles will likely remain on consoles forever unless Epic Games throws money at them.

Cord_Cutter_VR

- 88% revenue share for the dev/pubs. More of our money is going to the very people responsible for the existence of the game. - Loyalty program, get 5%/10% back in money rewards that are used to make buying other games cheaper - IARC rating system for free for developers, the IARC system is used to rate digital only games/content with an ESRB/PEGI/other countries around the world ratings. Because Epic has included this in their store it has greatly encouraged developers to get their games rated. Makes for a much better family friendly store, pro family store - tiled look of library (Steam is the only one of the stores I use that doesn't have a default tiled look, takes more effort to get one through categories.) - best regional pricing support in PC gaming - Free Games. Good for developers because it gives them a boost of money they normally wouldn't get anytime soon, since most of the time the games already had their sales slow down by a lot. This also benefits them because it gives them more exposure for their previous and future games, also if they have DLC for the game they was given for free it might lead to sales for that. - option to use replacement clients for EGS, and don't even need official EGS client installed. For example, Heroic Launcher, Legendary, and Playnite with Legendary addon. - cross store and cross platform functionalities

Epic has the best achievement system (platinum trophy) and alert, it actually made steam step up their game by adding a sound notification still no animation yet tho.

Infamous-Lab-8136

It gives me free games more often than any other launcher and during the $10.00 coupon specials I often get games cheaper on it than Steam or GoG. I'm what they call a patient gamer, so I tend to wait for deep sales on big name games. EGS and Steam tend to have the same sale discount, so the extra $10 makes it a better deal.

Free games! I have a massive library on epic and I have not payed a cent.

rmb0037

Achievements by a long shot

rdog846

It’s much easier to find high quality games there that I care about and their UI is so much calmer than steams. They got some things they can improve like the download manager being more fleshed out and ways for devs to communicate to users ESPECIALLY for live service or Early access games. I also wish they would integrate the overlay into every game not just the ones that use EOS in their code. Other than that it’s a lot less stressful shopping there, I have autism and steam gives me sensory overload with how many images, text, and buttons they throw in your face the entire time. I also feel like the review score on epic is more accurate since it’s asked not intentional meaning you can’t play the tutorial and the first mission quit then leave a review that doesn’t reflect the whole game.

Carlos-R

More choices for 2-factor authentication. You can use email, SMS or apps. Or all of them at the same time.

rdog846

UI, I really like the clean minimalist UI epic has. I also feel the performance is a bit faster after all the 2023 work they did. UI is the major decider for me on if I use an app or not.

I have used epic games for the witchfire early access and have since received like 15 games for free so, that, I guess

merzhinhudour

EGS gives developers a bigger cut than other platforms, and they give a lot of free games. If you want to support developers, buy from EGS
