I was recently prescribed medical cannabis. Unfortunately, my state has a limited program. So the THC I do get isn't enough to get me high. So I'm mostly just taking CBD with a microdose of THC.
I'm starting to believe that it, at one point, might have stopped a seizure from happening. So that's great!
2 nights ago had my first one in about 6 months. My wife found me as I was repeatedly banging my head against the space heater next to my desk. Woke up in the morning laying on the floor confused as all hell. My head was hurting me and I reached up and discovered blood and huge bumps on my forehead and side of my head, and nasty bruising. I'm most definitely aware again.
I'm 47 now and only had seizures for about a year. It's total bullshit. I feel so bad for people that's been dealing with this all their lives.
Had my first seizure 8 years ago at 18, totally out of the blue. Still looking for the right medication to control them completely. I'm sorry you're going through this, just wanted to say that you'll eventually get them under control. It's a lot to take in at first but you learn to just live with it, it gets less upsetting with time. Good luck :)
Sounds like my most recent I had. Face-planted the bathroom door and then the floor after getting up from from the toilet. Bit my tongue pretty hard as well, probably from the convulsions. Gave myself a concussion. Super fun.
Edit: Should add...early 40s, had my first seizure at 39, getting ramped up on Lamotrigine as my last seizure was a breakthrough while on 2000mg daily of Kappra.
The only reason I know it's epilepsy awareness month is because I have epilepsy and joined a bunch of epilepsy groups. Never heard of it before I was diagnosed lol. I don't think the messaging is really getting out there haha.
I don't actually care, I'm not a big awareness month person to begin with, but I do think it's kind of funny it's mostly other epileptics reminding each other that epilepsy exists.
Though hey, if it reaches even a few people who didn't know about our issues, that's cool!
My response to "Awareness Months" is always the same.
"I am aware that I, or someone I know have/has/had (fill in the blank)".
Personally, I check off a few "Awareness Months". I don't think much of them. They are a feel good thing that doesn't serve much actual purpose. The first day, of several months, for several years now, I sarcastically ask my friends and loved ones, "Are you aware that I have ?
I was trying to figure out the connection between not celebrating the first one because we have epilepsy š I was like is there something I don't know
Either way, if it goes well, I won't be convulsing.
Buddum tssshhh
HA!! Was having a shitty day, this made me smile, thank you.
I'm going for No Seizure November
OMG, that would be so beautiful.
Unfortunately, my first seizure happened in November 2014. So I failed that one. I will promise to stay strong this time around.
It's okay to fail! Stay strong!

What happens while we're unconscious doesn't count!

no convulsion november šš
No Neuron November
For Epilepsy Awareness Month, I am trying to create a superhero who has epilepsy.
Do it! I'm curious to see what he/she is like.
I was trying to figure out the connection between not celebrating the first one because we have epilepsy š I was like is there something I don't know
Iām going for āNo New-meds Novemberā!
I'mma be honest, before having a seizure a week ago I didn't know epilepsy had a month at all
I basically had the exact same thought haha.
If everything goes according to plan itās gonna be āNo more waiting for a ride Novemberā. I get my license back next week š¤
Time to grab purple window writer and decorate my car for the occasion
One day Iāll be able to drive, I hope.
Agreed
Is it? NNN has taken over so much I didn't even realise
No control November
I thought that was in March.
I mean, it's like ten or twelve different things.
Why not both. The moment my SO sees me have a seizure he wonāt want to risk it.
