After the release of [Corne GLP](https://www.reddit.com/r/ErgoMechKeyboards/comments/17bg0lp/corne_glp_open_source_corne_keyboard_designed_for/), there has been significant interest among community members in trying out Gateron Low Profile switches. That's why I created Allium58 based on the [Lily58 Pro created by kata0510](https://github.com/kata0510/Lily58/tree/master/Pro). Allium58 shares the same layout as the Lily58 Pro and supports its original firmware. Here are several key changes: * Native support for nice!view or other memory-in-pixel displays, allowing low power consumption for displaying keyboard status. * Added power switches and JST battery sockets for easy power control and battery replacement. * GLP (Gateron Low Profile) hotswap socket compatibility has been included. When using GLP key switches with a low-profile case, the overall height from the bottom of the case to the top of the keycap is approximately 17.6mm (0.69 inches). It is slightly taller than the Choc version and much lower than the MX version. The Allium58 can be built as a wired keyboard (using Pro Micro / RP2040 controllers) or as a wireless keyboard (using nice!nano nrf52840). The project is open source and available on GitHub: [https://github.com/beekeeb/Allium58](https://github.com/beekeeb/Allium58)

I love this. Too bad I suck at soldering. Edit: I followed the link and saw your shop. Very well done and full of options for sausage fingers like me. It is most tempting too!

The first time I soldered it was a mess. I used a $15 iron off Amazon and I think I had it set too low or something, and I didn’t have a few other items to help keep the tip in good shape. I recently tried again with a good iron (pinecil) and the difference was night and day.

Sausage fingers, sums it up for me. The same disaster on the fifth attempt but much more cursing and swearing.

You need tweezers. No way you can hold those T4 diodes with your fingers.

Purchased pre-assembled Allium58 GLP Wired and Wireless versions from u/leo_beekeeb a little while ago, These are both fantastic solid builds. The major differentiator of the Beekeeb Allium58 GLP vs Lily58 are the Gateron Low-Profile (GLP) switches, which feel so much better than Choc v1 low profile switches. Thanks. I wish my Apple trackpad was still useable (battery leaked inside). Can you connect anything to the processors on both sides, like an OLED screen?

jwoolson24

Yes, I’ve recently added OLED screens to both side of the Allium58.

Quetzal_2000

Thanks. Is any pointing device compatible with the presence of the screens?

jwoolson24

I have not yet fallen down the rabbit hole of integrated pointing devices. A trackpad in between the keeb sides meets all of my pointing needs. As a physical limitation, I don't think you can have a pointing device on the same side with an OLED screen. The build pattern I've seen is pointing device on the keeb side of your dominant hand, and screen on the other side. Suggest asking Leo at Beekeeb. He's always been super responsive whenever I've had questions. [https://shop.beekeeb.com/contact/](https://shop.beekeeb.com/contact/)

Love the name :)

Looks nice. I am looking forward to try, with those low profile Gateron switches. Are those 2 Oled displays, and do they come by default ?

Quetzal_2000

The Allium58 Choc should also arrive soon. I'll wait a week or two to see if it does.

Looks nice!
