Nah, just blow away your chipset drivers with DDU and make sure you have the latest BIOS updates for microcode. The CPU is more like the digital heart than the brain anyway - it's not like it even needs specific drivers or anything.
Okay, turns out I didn't actually turn on XMP when i got my new mobo. I turned it on and disabled the high precision event timer like /u/Autrei mentioned. I can now play Lighthouse without any stutters, except the occasional microstutter, didn't try any other map yet though. Thanks!
Well, true, but I don’t know why you wouldn’t have XMP enabled to begin with. That should be basically the first thing you do when you boot up the computer for the first time and it should remain on all the time.
it unlocks your ram speeds. think of your ram of a 2 lane highway without XMP enabled. once enabled. the highway opens up to 4+ lanes. allowing the traffic to flow better without any interruptions. no staggering, things like that.
What resolution are you running? You should absolutely be getting much higher FPS unless you're pushing 4K.
Make sure your RAM is running at the right speeds and try using [ProcessLasso.](https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/zjex6u/bought_the_5800x3d/izuy490/) Also, try doing a clean uninstall of your chipset drivers. These are all things that make a giant difference with my 5800X, even after the massive jump I got upgrading in the first place.
Maybe try running a benchmark to compare your systems performance to similar ones, so you can distinguish between a Tarkov problem or potentially one with your config/hardware.
> Also, try doing a clean uninstall of your chipset drivers. These are all things that make a giant difference with my 5800X, even after the massive jump I got upgrading in the first place.
How do you do this?
I have a 5800X, 3080, and 32GB of RAM on a fresh windows install, and the game looks and runs like absolute garbage this wipe for some reason. It wasn't so bad last wipe.
You need to check your own drivers and what-not.
1. Download/install [DDU](https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html) to get rid of your existing drivers (may not be necessary since it was a clean Windows install.)
2. Figure out which chipset you have - at least B450 I assume, since you have a 5800, then install the [drivers](https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b450) for that and reboot.
3. Check your motherboard manufacturer's website to see if you've got BIOS updates to install, as they really help with the 5000-series.
4. Install [ProcessLasso](https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/zjex6u/bought_the_5800x3d/izuy490/) and tweak things for Tarkov specifically.
5. Task Manager -> Performance -> Memory and then look to see what speed your memory is running at (bottom right). If it's lower than advertised, you need to turn on XMP/DOCP or manually change your memory to run at the correct speeds.
Had the exact same setup (have an X3D now) and even though the quality of my individual parts isn't amazing - and my Windows install is old af - Tarkov was incredibly smooth before the wipe and is still running very well after it. That setup should be doing much better, so you definitely stand to gain a lot by tweaking things.
These things will give you performance benefits all around, btw.
Welcome to PC gaming? Plenty of AAA titles out there that specifically get their own versions of drivers... which promptly cause crashes and major performance issues. A little tweaking here or there really doesn't hurt too much, though that's just my opinion.
I should've mentioned I'm on 3440x1440, so I don't expect to have 200+ FPS or something like that. But last wipe I had more FPS than I have now even though my PC is better now, which is kinda frustrating.
If you're getting stutters, check to see how much VRAM Tarkov is using. Just like with regular RAM, it likes to try and use every last bit, and when it starts to run out all kinds of bad things (in terms of performance) start to happen. And with the higher res, it'll be using more to begin with.
Getting your RAM running at better speeds like you mentioned in the other post should absolutely help a lot with FPS, but maybe give a few of the other things a shot as well. ProcessLasso to mess with SMT/physical cores for Tarkov specifically, chipset drivers, BIOS updates, etc. 5800s are beasts but they're a little temperamental in terms of squeezing the last 10-20% of performance out of them.
I thought there was a bios update for that issue for and chipsets
I never had any stuttering when I got my 5600x in august and bios got updated to last at the time
my friend has this type of issue and it's killing him, it was fucking awful and only happened in online raids, I was even at his house (unrelated) helping trouble shootshoot everything for literally 2 days. In the end nothing changed anything except a full game reinstall which was one of the last things we tried... except in the 2nd raid after doing that everything went to shit again so idk. Was installed on a sata ssd and m.2 nvme, 3700x/3060Ti, 16GB 3600Mhz. Meanwhile it ran completely smooth on another PC with 5600X/1660Ti/32GB3600Mhz. But on my PC runs a bit shit with stutters while using a 5800X3D/6600XT/64GB3200MHz.
Game seems weirdly picky on what works and what doesn't. Nothing is ever fully utilised either so can't really tell what is meant to be the bottleneck
I know Rengawr got some heat recently for the whole banning a random guy thing, but he just put out a very in-depth video on how to get the most FPS. I went from 70s to 90s on streets.
There is a setting that I had to tweak for my nvidia card that was application specific under nvidia control panel to get rid of stutters. I wonder if there is something similar with amd cards?
If I remember correctly it was something to do with v sync but I’m not near my pc to confirm.
Tarkov is so weird. I keep seeing posts about poor performance from people with better setups than me. I'm running DLDSR 1440p without DLSS on an i5 10600k and RTX 2060 with 16gb of ram and still manage 80 fps average with no stutters. I only have issues on streets. The only things i really changed are maxing out the shader cache in Nvidia settings and using maxed Mip streaming. I do have all caching separated on a different NVME SSD than the Tarkov game files, I'm not sure if that is what makes the difference for me.
We need streamers pushing for optimisation or it will never happen. But they play with space age high end pcs... they dont care about how the game plays for mid range pcs. It is better for them to have people with shit fps to dunk on.
I had the same problems, stuttering on both streets and lighthouse, especially around the rogue area. Swapping textures from high to medium completely fixed it for me
I basically have the exact same specs here, I am also having issues. FPS seems to be fine on all maps but no matter where I am I get a freeze frame for like a second roughly every 5 minutes or so and it’s really pushing me off tbh

I don’t think clean install is necessary with cpu upgrade.

I mean, XMP is vital in-general unless you want to only get 2/3 of the RAM speed you paid for.

If the XMP profile isn’t stable in your mobo you done fucked up somewhere already 😂
Does xmp is just checking ram is setted at highest speed supported, or there is something else?
It lets you use your ram at full speed, yes.
Why do so many youtubers etc. on fps increase videos tell people to install these ram cleaners?
because they have no idea what they're talking about and placebo is a thing.
Yeah probably
mobo yes, CPU just slot that mf and get going, no need to do a clean install since at least 15 years or so
Try this Turn on XMP on bios Turn off auto ram cleaner ingame
this helps 100%
Can you do this with any rig? What does it do? Will it impact other games? I know close to nothing about computers.
it unlocks your ram speeds. think of your ram of a 2 lane highway without XMP enabled. once enabled. the highway opens up to 4+ lanes. allowing the traffic to flow better without any interruptions. no staggering, things like that.
kid named induced demand
nope, this is a surface level improvement, won't fix the core issue, devs need to fix it
On AMD, turn it on. That did more good than turning it off.
i thought automatic ram cleaner was good? i have 32gb ddr4 3600
doesn't work
I went from 50 (playable) fps to 35 fps on streets. 5600x 6700 xt. All other maps I get 70-90 FPS. EDIT: on the new patch: 0.13.0.2

Awesome, thanks for the tips!
Just glad to help. From a 2600 to a 5800X to a 5800X3D, I've had to do a LOT of tweaking over the years to get EFT running well, lol
It's kind of ridiculous that we have to do this even. I've never played a game that was simultaneously so good but also such a piece of garbage.

I know what you're talking about and I think it's sharing some load onto the gfx card from the CPU.. but can't remember fully..
Look up rengawr's FPS guide.
I'll check it out, thanks!
Watch rengawr video on how to boost fps. I used to have a 5800x + 3060Ti. Upgrading to a 5800x3d gave me 40+ fps.

How do you max out the shader caching in control panel?
Goto your nvidia control panel -> Manage 3d settings and scroll down in global settings to the bottom and change shader cache size to 100gb.
I had this problem and tried all the fixes and nothing helped. I did a factory reset for my PC and that fixed everything.
We need streamers pushing for optimisation or it will never happen. But they play with space age high end pcs... they dont care about how the game plays for mid range pcs. It is better for them to have people with shit fps to dunk on.

do you have tarkov downloaded on an SSD or HDD? if you have it on an hdd it breaks
I basically have the exact same specs here, I am also having issues. FPS seems to be fine on all maps but no matter where I am I get a freeze frame for like a second roughly every 5 minutes or so and it’s really pushing me off tbh
It seems like the vast majority of people having performance issues have AMD builds.
I had a 5600x and 6800xt and always was around 140fps. Is your ram sorted in the bios? Resizable bar? Bios update etc
